In the FWIW Dept., Alan Dershowitz throws in his 2 cents:

Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard law professor and frequent defender of President Donald Trump, has a grim prediction for the president regarding the outcome of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

“I think the report is going to be devastating to the president,” Dershowitz told ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday. “And I know that the president’s team is already working on a response to the report. … When I say devastating, I mean it’s going to paint a picture that’s going to be politically very devastating.”

Dershowitz expressed doubt that Mueller’s findings would result in criminal charges against the president, stating that “collusion is not criminal.” He also dismissed host George Stephanopoulos’ suggestion that the special counsel could accuse Trump of conspiring “to cooperate with an attempt to defraud the U.S. government.”

“It’s too much of a stretch,” Dershowitz told Stephanopoulos. “What I think Mueller is going to do if he’s smart ― he’s not going to take the chance on being rebutted … he’s going to lay out the facts, leave it to Congress to decide whether that rises to the level of an impeachable offense.”

Mueller is smart - too smart to fall for Dershowitz’ attempt to declare that it’s stretch to indict the president for conspiring to defraud the US (ie - collusion) because unlike Dershowitz, Mueller has seen all the evidence.

I’m reasonably certain that neither of those two numbers is related to the number of days that we have to wait, let alone in accordance with your formula.

And granted, I’m sure that you didn’t intend your formula to be an actual formula, just something stupid to be able to say, but well…you’d have to explain to me the value of saying something stupid.

Special counsel Robert Mueller said in a court filing Monday that Paul Manafort had breached his plea agreement by lying to investigators since signing the agreement.

So what does this mean exactly? I know it’s bad form to lie to federal investigators, but…what now?

He’s in worse shape than if he had just pleaded guilty and didn’t cooperate. He gets sentenced, and the deal is invalidated. The judge can take his lying into account in sentencing.

It likely means he expects a pardon.

Don’t forget that now they’ll likely be bringing charges against him because of his lying; those lies were federal crimes.

I’m guessing it also means that everything he told Mueller is useless except to use as leads for further investigation?

If you have a deal on the table, and the only thing that you have to do to avoid spending the rest of your life in jail is to tell the truth, then there must be some compelling reason for lying. Either expectation of a pardon or expectation of being murdered.

So like this man just can’t stop committing crimes? It’s like he’s addicted to the rush or something.

You’ve got to admire his commitment to doing crimes though, he’s done 100% of the crimes he’s had the opportunity to do.

Or expectation that you won’t be caught. These guys have outsized egos and are convinced in their ability to pull the wool over Mueller’s eyes, to their own detriment.
