We could put the bag over the Russian translator and wire him up to the Tucker telephone until he spilled the beans.
"Ah, Mr. Trump. Remember that time in Moscow at the Ritz-Carleton in 2013? That was a very interesting time, was it not?
If you or even Mrs. Trump would like a little memento of the occasion, I’m quite sure that I could ask my colleagues in my records department to provide one. Now, about that situation in Ukraine…
"
“What, you mean that time I had those hookers pee on the bed? How old were they, anyway, 12? I thought you said that you’d never bring that up again, and that you’d destroyed the tapes.”
<looks over at interpreter> (uh oh. better get those notes)
Bob Barr, nominated to become Attorney General, pledges to allow Mueller to finish his investigation: Trump's AG nominee pledges to allow Mueller to complete investigation - POLITICO
Remind me again what Republican pledges are worth.
They pledged that Merrick Garland’s nomination would not be voted on.
They pledged their souls to Satan.
Well, there is that. :dubious:
Bummer.
I wonder who the leak was and what the purpose was. Some of these, I feel like the investigators leak anonymously just after getting a wiretap installed, figuring that the mark will call a compatriot to talk about what to do.
I may soon be proven wrong, and it’s quite possible he’s drunk the Trumpian Kool-Aide in the past few years, but Barr has a reputation - dating back to even before his stint as AG for GHWB - for being a decent, honest guy with an abiding respect for the rule of law. I, for one, hope he lives up to it.
William Barr, President Trump’s attorney general pick, once warned of a lack of “political supervision” at the Justice Dept. that he said gave too much leeway to career prosecutors and made it “very easy for prosecutors to go hunting for scalps.”
Adam Schiff:
Under Barr’s reading of the law, an obstruction case Mueller may be pursuing is “asinine.” He says results of Mueller’s report should be made public but nothing about its contents. And he has a view of presidential power that renders all of his promises moot.
Senate must vote no
Schiff again:
Bill Barr wrote a lengthy memo outlining his hostility to an investigation implicating the President, and then discussed it with him prior to his nomination for AG. Absent recusal, this should be utterly disqualifying.
When Trump is gone, what will be left of the rule of law?
One of my friends is a Bernie bro who hates the Clintons. Every time I bring up Trump looking like he is a Russian asset, he massively rolls his eyes and dismisses me (along with Rachel Maddow, whom he calls “cuckoo”) as being the equivalent of Alex Jones or the people who said Vince Foster was murdered. This annoys the hell out of me, but I had thought it was just this one guy until another friend of mine says he knows several “far left Democrats” who talk the same way. Is this really a thing? Are these lefties so anti-Clinton (or maybe pro-Russia??) that they end up sounding like Trumpites on this topic?
It is absolutely a thing. There is a large contingent of Bernie Bros and Steinistas who are quite happy to see Trump in the White House. (Nevermind that whole kerfuffle about Russian troll farms agitating for Jill Stein and her close relationship with RT.
Just a singular data point I know - A very good friend of mine is a Bernie supporter. Big time. Detests Trump like any rational person would. When I warned her that Trump could be a problem, and it may be best to through support behind Clinton, she insisted that SHE would still vote for Bernie, and that the WOMEN of the country won’t let us down and let Trump be elected.
:smack:
Oops on many levels. We don’t talk about it, as I’m not a “I told ya so” type of guy.
You should be. I blast Jill Stein voters all the time. Rub their noses in the shit they helped make.
