Rachel Maddow’s A-block last night was about all the people from both the Trump campaign and administration who have lied, constantly, consistently, and without exception about their or others’ contacts with various Russians even though, on the face of it, there was no need for them to lie. Unless you’re selling them intelligence of one sort or another, it’s not illegal for US citizens to talk to Russian citizens. So if you’re lying about talking to them, it does make the rest of us wonder *why *you’re lying about talking to them.
I was watching the Journal Editorial Report today and they were discussing Stone. They talked about how all these folks are being indicted or pleading guilty to lying, which is just a “process” crime and none of it has anything to do with conspiracy. But they (and all right-wright pundits) don’t go past that to why everyone felt the need to lie if everything they were doing was legal.
They also talked about how stupid and incompetent the campaign folks were that there is no way they could conspire with a dog. I’m not sure they realize how damning this excuse is. If they were so incompetent, then how did they manage to win an election without help?
What’s in it for Putin to shelter him? Stone’s no longer of any use whatsoever. Might as well put a bullet in him on the tarmac and blame it on Chechen rebels.
I think the line is something along the lines of these poor victims being interrogated so long and so harshly that they inevitably get flustered and contradict themselves on some minor point, which then gets blown up and trumpeted as lies, with trumped up (pun intended) charges of lying to law enforcement following.
Yeah. For Putin, the cleanest, cheapest, most expedient thing would be to kill him – arrange an “accident” or just shoot him and blame it on some “radical fringe splinter group”.
I had to check out Fox News snippets to see how the other side was digesting the news and “process crime” seems to be the phrase du jour. Roger Stone mentioned it and Jerome Corsi used essentially the same language. Fox News’ Gregg Jarrett tried to sell it too. Alan Dershowitz appeared less enthusiastic about pitching that angle but he was ranting about how heavy handed the FBI tactics were in raiding Stone’s house. Dersh has been a Fox News fanboy as of late, but it’s interesting because if you read between the lines, you can kinda tell where the line of demarcation between bullshit analysis and reality lies when you see what he will or won’t agree with when it comes to his co-hosts’ legal analysis.
Agreed. I don’t think they should stop with the White House; the entire Republican party (and Jill Stein) need to be investigated for their affiliations with Russian oligarchs. This also applies to grassroots organizations like the NRA.
