CNN is reporting that Mueller could deliver the report as early as next week. Unclear what their source is.
True story: A public defender I knew well from having worked together in our shared past once dropped a brown paper bag on my desk during a trial I was clerking, to be marked for identification as an exhibit. The bag contained a pair of worn, unlaundered underwear.
As he waited for me to mark the exhibit and note it in my minutes, he leaned down and whispered, “Counsel, have you filed your briefs?”
Ordinarily exhibits of this sort are offered as evidence by a prosecutor and are pre-marked for identification in advance of the trial. To the greatest extent possible, we pre-marked all exhibits before jury selection. Not always possible, as demonstrated in this instance. But I’ll never forget that line, or how I struggled not to show any reaction in front of the jury.
I wondered how long he had yearned to find himself in the exact circumstances that allowed him to use it.

There have been credible reports from sources not linked to wishful thinking of Trump types for about a month that a report submission is imminent, between mid-February and mid-March.
Couple this with the pending departure of Rod Rosenstein in about 3 weeks, who vowed he would not leave until he had seen the Mueller investigation through to at least an interim report, as well as the fact that Mueller released some of his key team members back to their regular lives, and I do believe there is a reasonable basis to think a report will soon be submitted.
I’m not sure it will be a final report, but a substantive interim report will be just dandy.
I expect the actual investigations to continue for years. Maybe even a decade.
There is also a rumor that SDNY may be willing to take on the DOJ policy to not indict a sitting president. Oh, how I hope this one is true!

It does seem like the Mueller investigation is wrapping up, and I think it will end not with a bang but a whimper. Even as indictments are popping up all around him, Teflon Don is convinced he is without a scratch or even a grease spot. The Pubbies aren’t going to turn on him. He will go on to get elected for another four years and even the Dope will get tired of giving a shit.
