A time-traveling, hijacked MMP

I did, thanks! It was in the mid-80s here, breaking records for the day. But it was REALLY windy. Not the greatest biking conditions, but still wonderful to be outside!

Hope you get your patio time in tonight!

So far I’m feeling very unmotivated this morning. So I’m working on my grocery list. What should I make with chicken this week?

Woo hoo, thank OG it’s FIRDAY!!! I’m really glad that I made it to Friday this week.

Hugs and trout slaps, as necessary. Glad to hear that the pups are back to normal … well, normal for them, that is, BBBBobbio. I don’t even want to begin to imagine what their breath was like! (actually, there aren’t enough  's in the world to cover that one! LOL)

I just finished doing timesheets so now I’ve got a slight headache. Again, thank OG it’s Friday!

I’m wearing an outfit today that I haven’t worn since I had my interview for Reference Work two years ago this July. It fits better now, but the skirt is begging for new elastic. No idea how that’s gonna work since my mom made me this skirt back in high school fifteen…years…

Holy crap, I keep my skirts a long time.

Still needs new elastic, though.

Also my ballet flats have rubbed a blister on my Achilles heel. Stupid new shoes.

Happy Firdays all around. The day is not starting good. The cow-orker burst into audible sobs first thing. She has arthritis and is in pain. Not much I can do about that except feel sorry for her.

Now I has a headache. And my neck is still stiff after six weeks. I must discuss this with the doc when I go back for my thyroid check. God, I’m starting to sound like those old people who do nothing but talk about their operations and prescriptions.

We are supposed to hit the 90s Murkin today, too. Okay by me but I will still be stuck inside this frigid office. The AC is actually cranking right now. I can hear it. And it’s only 73 degrees out. ::sigh::

Appropriate well wishes distributed as needed.

Tupug

Happy Firday!

Spaz, I feel your pain. I wore a new pair of Converse this morning and they’re rubbing my feet raw… it’s like my feet grew a half size overnight - and this is with thinner socks than I wore when I first tried them on. OW.

Happy Friday one and all. I’m home on my RDO. It looks beautiful outside, and I should get outside and do some yardwork, but I haven’t showered yet.

My son stayed home today and just now got out of the shower. This means I don’t have any hot water.:dubious::rolleyes:

My son has discovered the suckiness of co-workers. Apparently, there’s a group of people he has to work with who are being jerks and lazy. I told him not worry, that those types of people don’t last long at fast food places. The place my son is working has it’s grand opening on Saturday, so, they been practicing putting out orders in the time allotted, cooking the food, and running it out to non-existent customers. However, the little turds my son is referring to, ate ALL the food, messed up the floors after they had been cleaned, and weren’t doing what they were supposed be doing in regards to their duties.

I told my son to concentrate on what he had to do, and let those folks hang themselves, and they will. Apparently, the manager and trainers already talked to them last night.

So, tonight is the last practice night, and tomorrow my son works six to midnight. He’s going to be tired because the place will be slammed. I know people who are coming from over 30 miles away eat there tomorrow. Is Sonic really that good, or are people just nostalgic?

Well, I should get going. Hugs, smooches, and gropes to all.

Good to hear he’s well. Presumably he’s on Happy Pills. Unless his doctor has said otherwise, he should stay religiously on the Happy Pills through the weekend as this will do a couple of things:

They’ll keep him fairly inert. Completely inert is not good, but neither is running around as if nothing happened.

They’ll keep pain from getting bad. Being in pain slows down healing and just sucks in general terms. For the first few days, he can expect an achy back at the operative site, but should not be in any actual pain. For the first couple days after my surgery, my back felt like someone took a good whack at me with a baseball bat, and at skin level, there was a smidge of “owie, I’ve been cut!”

IIRC, for the first two days, I took two 5/500 Vicodin every 4 hours, then cut down to one every four hours for the next day, then by Monday, I was back to regular naprosyn.

Ice, ice, baby… An icepack will be his new best friend for a few days while he cools things down at least five times a day.

The dressing - It’ll probably be due for a change on Sunday or so. The stuffis a bit hard to find, but it’s just the right stuff and it works a treat as you don’t have to juggle a gauze pad and the cover material. Don’t use any ointments or try to clean the wound - just peel off the old dressing and stick on a new one.

Hi all!

It’s my RDO, too. I am so glad for that! The presentation went well yesterday, I even got applause! How embarassing. The only foul up was double-booking of conference rooms, so we had to start late, and I ended up leaving twenty minutes late, which adds an extra fifteen minutes to my commute. But that was yesterday.

Today, I went and got a mani/pedi in the spa chair. Aaahhh! Heaven.

Today is my Dad’s 85th birthday, and we’re all going out to eat cheap Chinese. But it’s awesome! They serve everything family-style, and have free hot tea. I’m making a lemon cream cheese pie instead of a cake - 'cuz that’s what he wants!

Oh yeah - I meant to tell y’all. Mr Rebo bought a stereo receiver (circa 1975) from a garage sale a while back for $5. Yesterday he sold it on eBay for ~drumroll~ $299! I’ll quit bitching about all his “junk” now. At least for a while.

Foot soaks for blisters, hugs, smooches, and neck rubs for anyone who needs one!

Laterz…

**gotti **- one thing I’m pretty sure of - my MIL will ride herd on the patient. She takes notes, asks questions, and almost smothers him with her care. But she will make sure he doesn’t overdo. He’s supposed to walk with a wheeled walker and not lift anything for now. She’ll keep him in line! I just hope he’s a better patient than his eldest son, who is a real pain in the patoot when he’s recuperating…

I got home a little early today. Picked up my car from the shop (oil change and break cleaning/adjust/lube.) Having some leftover pasta while doing laundry. I’m going to try to write my report for class.

And speaking of reports, I narc’d on the “psychology” student’s ad for selling homework papers. It was pulled from the classifieds listing. Don’t think I can get her website killed, tho. Oh well.

Off to be productive… after I finish reading the funnies.

Howdy, all. I stayed up way too late last night finishing the congress[del]idiots[/del]people, but Isaac was such a good boy this morning – I went to bed really late, got up at a decent hour and let him out and fed him, and then we both went back to sleep for a couple more hours. When I got up he was totally sprawled across both dog beds in the living room. Silly doggie!

So today has been a lazy day. I finished the sock I was test-knitting; as you can see, it turned out quite nicely. Now I have to knit the second one. But I was a good girl, cast on for the second one immediately! There’s no rush on it, however, now that I’ve finished the first, which was all she needed a photo of for her test knitters album. I liked the pattern; it was easy to knit, even on the teensy needles.

That’s still better than what my mother does, which is talk about her bowels. For some reason, she feels compelled to report upon every bowel movement in great detail – size, ease of production, density, etc. It’s really obnoxious, but I managed to develop a certain immunity to it while I was visiting her. Thank heaven, because she just called me and gave me a full medical update, including the fact that drinking the warm prune juice one of the visiting nurses recommended (ewwww!) has solved her problems. Just lovely.

Speaking of medical stuff, those Nexcare nonstick pads really are wonderful, aren’t they, Gotti? I used them after my knee surgery, and I will never use regular gauze pads again if I can help it.

I’m hoping to have a nice, quiet evening, too. Isaac has had a good play session, and I figured out how much work I’ve put out in the past five days – nearly 600 pages of transcript! – so decided I really need at least one full day doing NO work. Maybe two. It’s such a pretty day, it’s perfect for just sitting here enjoying the fresh air and sunshine and knitting and reading.

Back to knitting. Can’t decide if I want to do more of the ribbing on the second yellow sock, or if I want to go back to the super-challenging sock (Cookie A.'s Stricken sock pattern) that has been languishing for a bit. Or whether I want to really get working on one of the lace scarves for the nieces. Or whether I want to just take a nap. Decisions, decisions!

Is it Beer O’ Clock yet? Huh huh huh? watches clock impatiently

In other news, someone had the bright idea of sending me the latest revisions to our documentation in PDF format. A whopping 7MB PDF, no less.

Too bad PDF doesn’t track changes… which, you know, might be a slightly useful feature when all you care about is the revisions, rather than the whole whopping 1000+ pages of [del]crap[/del] valuable information. It’s a good thing it’s Firday, because otherwise I might be screaming bloody murder at someone.

Recipe. Now.

Please?

Yay it’s almost the weekend!

And I still have no idea what I want to make for dinner for the next week, which is important since I’m going to the grocery store after work.

It was just Wine O’Clock down here. Ah, Duplin County Scuppernong. The Prince of Wines.

Howdy Y’all! It’s beer o’clock at da cave! I deserve it too. I depolinated the back porch and the deck. WHEW! And it’s hawt outside! It was 94 Amurrkin whilst I was pressure washin’. On the upside though, the porch is almost dry because the sun is bearin’ down on it right now, so it’s all good. Beer. Cold. Good.

Spaz few things are finer that scuppernong or muscadine wine! They are two of the true joys of livin’ in the southern USofA. Around hear it’s Still Pond Vineyard and Winery MMMM-MMMM Good!

Here’s to Muppet and beer o’clock!

Just got back in from seeing Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage in person. Not up close and personal, but in the same auditorium, at least. I was probably about 100 feet away.

It’s funny, but even on my 50" HDTV, certain aspects aren’t real obvious, but on a roughly 30x60 foot projection screen, Jamie’s eyebrows are crazy! They looked long enough to wrap back around to his ears.

Every morning, the inner conversation must be “Which pair of gray jeans will I wear today? And which long sleeve black Tshirt? Honey! Have you seen Beret #6?” A few years ago, we saw him leaving a coffeeshop near our home, and yes, he looked like he always does. At least Adam mixes things up.

We had an early dinner so our son could eat with us before heading off to work. I went to the butcher shop and bought some lovely ribeye steaks.

After that, I headed to grocery store and got the fixings for baked potatoes. I grilled the steaks since it was such a nice day out.

In just a bit, I need to take my son to work.

bows before you

I wanna meet them. They do fun things with 'splodey stuff.

How fun, Gotti! What was the occasion?

I finally decided that I should get my behind (or my fingers, technically) in gear on these graduation scarves. Since I’ve got other charity knitters working on hats now from the group and have already received a couple of excellent samples, I’m going to take the evening off from hat knitting and see how far I can get on this scarf. The pattern is actually far easier than I thought it would be (it’s this one, and the yarn I have is a hand-dyed yarn that is remarkably similar in color), so I have hopes that once I get the basic pattern memorized, I can fly through it.

I also had to switch needles twice before I ended up some that are not only sharply enough pointed, but that I can see the dang stitches against the needle points! I was using KnitPicks wooden needles, but the points are very dark and multi-colored (much darker than the photos), so I was going blind trying to see the stupid stitches. :frowning: And I’m too cheap to buy Addi lace needles, which cost at least three times as much. There are just too many needle options these days! Not like when I learned – a choice of straight or DP only, one brand, crappy aluminum that would make your hands freeze in winter or sweat in summer, take it or leave it. I like the options today, but it’s much more of a challenge matching the right needles to the yarn and project!

If I win the lottery, though, I know what I’m getting – Signature needles – one set of every size of straight and DP, and two sets for each sock size. Except at $28 and up for a pair of straights, and $45 and up for their double points, that ain’t happening till I win the lottery. :frowning: Those who have them say they’re worth every penny. I may pick up a pair next weekend at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival, or at least try them out. Any other Mumpers going? I’ve never been, and I really, really have to go at least once while we’re still in this area!

Papa Tigs is starting to look seriously for jobs in the Pacific Northwest, so we may be outta here in the next few months. My job is, fortunately, portable. Keep your fingers crossed that he finds something because we both would rather be in that part of the world than here!

Time to shut down the 'puter and go put my feet up for the evening and watch Cesar Millan work his miracles with dogs while knitting. A lovely pleasant evening!

If he knits and does dog miracles that would be worth watchin’! :stuck_out_tongue:

The porch and deck are dry! I even put all the stuff back in place. Go me! I say that calls for an ice cold beerverage to celebrate.
