A time-traveling, hijacked MMP

Am home from 1 job. Thought I had tomorrow off, but got a late call back and no, I have to work as a nurse tomorrow.

Everything is in bloom–even my tulips. The yard is lovely, but I am afraid that this new heat will wilt it all and I won’t get to see any of it. :frowning:

Everyone sacrifice small animals or obnoxious relatives/neighbors so that I can get out of work by noon tomorrow. Please? Ta.

Hope all are well. Someone’s (Spaz’s?) skirt needs elastic, which means weight loss, which is good, and swampy is in cleaning mode (come up here and do MY house, dammit!) and** FCM** is working her kiln but good–all is right with the MMP world…

It’s on the Mumper’s blog already.

Here it is!

Lemon Cream Cheese Pie

1 graham cracker pie crust
1 10oz jar Dickenson’s Lemon Curd (in the baking aisle)
2 8oz pkgs cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbs lemon zest (you can leave this out, I’ve made it both ways)

Beat all ingredients on medium speed until creamy. Pour into pie crust. Lick the spoon. Chill about 2 hours.
Dinner was sooo good. We had Wonton Soup, Crispy Duck, General Tso’s Chicken, and Triple Meat Lo Mein. I am so stuffed. Dessert will have to wait. And enough leftovers for three of us to eat twice more!

(The bill before tip was only $27. It’s CHEAP.)

I have to get up early tomorrow - the guy is coming to fix my window screens so I can get some air in this room and maybe it wil be bearable this summer

I foresee a Lemon Cream Cheese Pie in the near future at da cave. YUM! and ::drool:: I think I’ll just make one and serve up ol’ y’all know who a big ol’ slice and report back on the ::drool:: factor which I am sure shall commence.

Now, if I can only find some Dickenson’s Lemon Curd here in south Jawja…

The Semi-Homemade Lady recommends it highly.

You mean the The Drunk Bulimic Sandra Lee?

Work is over, the pack is walked, now it’s Beer O’clock. It’s hot now.

rigs, I once offered to sacrifice a cat for a goal in a hockey game. I guess I can do it for a quick day for you.

Good luck with PapaTigs’ job search!

Pugs, don’t feel bad. Family reunion before last, the contest was to see who took the biggest wad of pharmaceuticals each day.

BBBobbio, the other night, somebody had an accident, and i caught Gordie trying to dispose of the evidence. [Ralph Wiggum]My dog’s breath smells the same as his butt[/RW]

Read, but only retained the pretty pretty knitting needles.

Tired.

Dinner at a friend’s till 10 or so…apparently it’s social butterfly week.

Have to be up early for a meeting. Need to finish notes from last time and pretty up the agenda. So I’ll be getting up early-ish.

Guess I should try falling asleep now…

Hugs…I’ll catch up tomorrow.

They were doing the closing keynote at the RSA Security Conference. I’m a security geek, I like Mythbusters, and my office is about a block from the conference center. How could I pass it up?

They ended the show with what they called “Explosion Porn” - a montage of some of their favorite explosions. Interestingly, Adam’s favorite explosion isn’t really an explosion, but is the predictable failure mode of water heaters to blow out at the bottom, propelling the tank skyward. They also caught hell from the FAA from those tests - one tank failure launched the tank so high up into the sky as to be a flight hazard - it had a 15 second “hang time” and went roughly half a mile up into the sky before falling back down.

Speaking of which, they’ve recently built a test rig to revisit exploding water heaters as a lot of people wrote in to say “I live in a two-story house” after they’d said how it might be a good idea not to put anything you value over a water heater. Hmm… I better move over a couple of feet as my home office is over the garage.

Up, caffeinated, off to work.

I was up early, but I managed to doze off for almost 2 more hours - didn’t crawl out of bed till after 6:30, which is sleeping in for me.

Daughter has left for a week-long house-sitting stint over near where she works. She’s also going to training for a Ren Faire - she’ll be handling the Queen’s hounds (a greyhound rescue group.) Plus one of the girls who was in her wedding is coming to visit for a week. She’s got excitement.

**FCD **has left for the boat - he’s going to start masking the top of the cabin so we can paint the non-skid surfaces. And after that’s dry, we’ll mask and paint the deck. Then end up masking and painting some surfaces around the cockpit. The boat will be beeeeeeyoooooteeeefullll!

I’ll be leaving about 9, taking the dogs to the groomers before heading to the marina. So I have about an hour to kill before I have to exchange the robe for clothing I can wear in public.

It’s gonna be hot - like 87° predicted for today’s high. I’ve got the windows open, and I absolutely refuse to turn on the AC. Sorry. Not in April. It’ll drop down to the 60s tonight. We can deal. I was hoping we’d have a little spring before summer whapped us…

Happy Saturday, all!!

Yay for Saturdays! Everyone is still asleep, and I’m enjoying my coffee while listening to the birds chirping. I love Saturday mornings.

It rained very hard last night, and today is overcast but nice and cool. Promises to be warm, though - about 85° thay say.

Nothing much on the agenda. Laundry, as usual. A couple of weeks ago I bought new laundry baskets for us. It has three bags hanging on a rolling frame. And I’ve trained the hubby to SORT! So now I just wheel the thing to the laundry room and place the clothes directly into the washer! Woo-hoo!

Yes I know. But it’s the little things that make me happy!

Have a great day, my Mumpers.

New screens are in - fresh spring air is filling the room -MMMMMMMMMMM :):):)
also I finished the map of the mushroom game and am working on the 2nd one - nb: your money does not carry over - but on the plus side your life points go back up to full

I’m up and caffienating. I’ll have to pop into the shower so I can drive my son down to get his permit. Let’s hope he passes the test.

Later this evening, we’ll head over to Sonic because we have a family invitation for 50% off on our order. We plan to load the Expedition up with us, my daughter’s boyfriend, and some of my son’s friends.

I don’t know what I’m going to get, but I see onion rings in my order. I lurves me some onion rings. I’m hoping these don’t disappoint me.

After returning from the DMV, I’ll be doing yardwork. My yard is in serious need of attention.

Have a great day everyone. Hugs and smooches to all.

Your attention to detail and ritual paid off because I was indeed done by 11:15. However, I must take issue with whatever deity you all prayed to–I didn’t need to be at work until 0800, but I arrived at 0615 because nobody told me differently. The manager says I should have called back (why when the message said she’d see me tomorrow morning and our default time is 0630?) to find out the time. :dubious:
So, I got paid to sit on my ass and drink several cups of tea. There are worse ways of spending a morning. My beauty is fading since I am lacking in the sleep department. Anyone have a portrait in the attic I can borrow?

Off to soccer game soon. It’s very Dorothy and Toto out there. <cue music>

Happy Saturday, everybody. Or something like that. It is indeed beautiful and warm here; thus far, it’s not getting too warm; it’s just perfect, to be specific. Being just a few blocks from the water does help; it keeps the temps here much more equalized than further inland. I like that.

That Explosion Porn sounds fun, Gotti! Those guys do love to make things blow up, don’t they? But they do it so well. Sounds like a great event!

Taters, Sonic onion rings are the best anywhere if you like 'em big and fat and juicy. None of this minced onion crap from them – oh, no, great big fat slices of great big onions are used. I miss going to the Sonic near our house in New Orleans and getting a burger and great big fat onion rings for a sinful lunch. Yummy! Enjoy some for me!

We had all kinds of excitement this morning at a nearby house – the one across the side street from Mae’s house, snowbunny, in case you were wondering – looks like the guy who lived there died. :frowning: We didn’t know him, but we’d see him out working in his yard and exchange pleasantries. He was younger than us. :frowning: Looks like it was natural causes, though, since a funeral home came and took him away. That’s still a shame, though. :frowning:

I ended up knitting on the first lacy scarf last night (no, Cesar Millan wasn’t knitting, Swampy, you grammar geek you!), but ended up tearing it out completely once, then re-knitting about a dozen rows and tearing several back again. Not because I’d done anything wrong, but the first time I decided it was going to be too narrow so I wanted to add in a couple pattern repeats, and the second time because even though the pattern called for a couple rows to be knit in garter stitch, I thought they’d look better in stockinette. Perfectionist, me? Who’d’a a thunk it?

Anyway, I’m now off on the pattern that repeats all the way down the length, and it is a very simple pattern indeed; once through should be more than enough to have it completely memorized. And the yarn I chose to work with is knitting up like a dream – it’s called fingering but is closer to lace IMO, but is a nice firm merino so it doesn’t split or catch on itself when I rip it out. And I’ve got twice as much of it as I need for the scarf – heck, I could make two identical ones so the two sisters the two scarves are going to don’t bicker over whose is nicer! <g> I got it from an acquaintance who, after evacuating from Katrina, decided to follow his dream of making a living dying yarn; he does gorgeous work. This was one of his one-of-a-kind end-of-the-dye-jar specials. I’ve also bought some of his sock yarn, and an odd skein or two of his worsted for making hats – I love his colors, they’ve very rich. Not everyone applies the color quite as intensely, but I like that. His turquoise is the most beautiful anywhere.

Enough knitting babbling, especially since most of you neither care nor understand. I’m debating whether I want to do any actual work today, and thus far the answer is no, not hardly. Which is fine; I just have one stupid thing on hand right now that’s one of those nobody-cares-about-it jobs, and then one of my favorite jobs will be arriving on Monday. So I’m going to take it easy this weekend and save up all my energy for working on the good job on Monday. Sounds like a good plan to me, anyway.

Back to knitting!

Sorry to hear about your neighbor, Mama Tigs.
Instead of doing laundry, I made an awesome breakfast of leftover porterhouse steak and mushrooms and onions - sauteed it all up with a spash of Marsala wine and used it as omelette filling. Yum!

Then I decided to brave the [del]mudhole[/del] dog park and took the mutts out. It wasn’t too bad, but we all needed baths when we got home.

So I’m sitting here eating leftover lo mein and the first load of clothes is in the washing machine.

I love Saturdays.

My son passed the test for his permit! Thank goodness.

Now, although it’s cold and not all that pleasant out, I must commence with yardwork. Lucky me, not. I wouldn’t mind it so much if it was just a tad warmer outside.

If he ever drives on this side of the country, please warn me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, I think it’ll be awhile before he’s ever over on that side of the country, **rosie, **so you don’t have any worries…yet.:stuck_out_tongue:

Bleh, I really don’t want to go outside…it’s cold out there.
