See what happens when you don’t use a Battery Operated Boyfriend?
Congratulations!
See what happens when you don’t use a Battery Operated Boyfriend?
Congratulations!
You are bad.
And hooray for new Little Lissar!
Soapy, I finished up Anne Frank’s diary this weekend, so I had my own Holocaust Remembrance. It involved me taking my German heritage out back and pistol-whipping it.
Yesterday’s Nature Adventure involved raking up a snake. It was a kingsnake that liked to coil. It was released into the same woods where the Tiny Turtle lives. (The anole from Saturday was released to the side of the house which is the Hot Anole Pickup Spot).
Mosquitoes were sighted yesterday. Spring is officially Not Fun anymore.
I should probably head off to work now.
Much to my horror, the acronym for that is BOB.
You forget. She has multiple husbands.
CONGRATS, LI-LI!
As for drae… You don’t kid around when you make a grand re-entrance. Oh, and my final words on the subject. You can’t beat Mother Nature.
soapy, I pray no one ever forgets.
My only news to report from the weekend is car trouble. My nearly-ten-year-old Grand Cherokee overheated when I reached the grocery store on Saturday. Drove it home after shopping with the AC off and Mr. Anachi and I took it to the shop where some computer gizmo that works the fan had to be replaced to the tune of $350.00. At least it’s fixed.
That is all.
Tupug
DRAE!! Welcome back! I was thinking about you not long ago and wondering how things were going. Glad you’re doing well. Aside from the TMI, anyway.
Now we just need to get MagicEyes to come back too!
YAY LILI!! Congratulations!!
We had a really good weekend. Saturday was beautiful out so we decided to bike to Target to do some shopping. It was almost lunch time while we were there, so we decided we should find some food. And ended up biking an additional 6 miles to a new place that KT had heard about recently. Really good food, and an unexpected adventure biking somewhere new. By the time we got home again, we’d biked almost 18 miles over an hour and a half. (Not a great rate of speed, but we’re doing this for fun, not a race.) It was good. But I had to sit on an ice pack when I got home!
Yesterday was a pretty lazy day after church. KT made some excellent gumbo 'cause I had decided I wanted it once more before it gets too warm. And yesterday was the perfect day for it - overcast and cool. It was good and a good day to just stay inside and veg out.
Now back to work. I could really use an extra day of sleeping in!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! Congratulations, congratulations, con-gra-tu-la-tions!
Welcome back, Drae. Glad your naughty bits aren’t seriously hurt, mine were trying to crawl inside.
Shortly before ditching Sheboss, I bought me a Yoda plush doll. It’s one of The Niece’s favorite dolls (the other one is a little Basque girl), she likes to grab him by the oh-so-grabbable ears. Like every other plush doll since Safety Labels got invented, it’s not supposed to be in the hands of little girls below three years of age, though… am I a bad auntie?
SIL is one of those people who are totally convinced that it makes sense to move from LA to San Francisco via Hong Kong, with a stop along the shores of Maracaibo: “straightforward” is not in her vocabulary. She told The Nephew (whose grandma and great-grandma are using The Niece’s future-bed and the one that tucks away onder it) that there is a bed under The Niece’s future-bed “in case we ever get another little sister.” The Nephew brought it up during yesterday’s lunch at Mom’s, asking what if it’s a little brother; Mom said “well, then you two switch beds, and the little brother stays with you while she gets to be alone.” The Nephew thought that made perfect sense, but SIL jumped on the ticking grenade and explained that it’s highly unlikely that there will ever be another little anything. When they left, Mom asked me whether it’s Bad Form to pray to the patron saint of broken condoms and out-of-date Pills, I told her it is
It is your duty as the childless aunt to provide unsafe toys to your nieces and nephews.
Nava, I do my best as the childless aunt to provide toys that are not only unsafe, but also as loud as possible. I have little fear of reprisal if and when I ever have children, because I know my sister-in-law does all the gift shopping and she wouldn’t dream of giving a child something so crass.
Evening all. Welcome back, Drae! And YIKES!!! I bet that had to hurt!
LiLi, yayyyyy for another little Lissar!
Soapy, I lit a candle.
So, we are home. Cairo was nice, but it’s good to be back. HRH decided she didn’t want a bar of her Daddy (hubby was obviously upset at being so firmly rejected), but was torn between not wanting to let me out of her reach and being mad at me! Sigh … I think the next few days will be tough.
Congrats, LiLi! Hope the morning sickness stays away this time… from what I gather, you had it bad enough with Gnat to have used up the allotment for a dozen kidlets at least.
I am also sneaking from work. Shhhhh. (actually, we’re on a coffee break and if I have any more coffee, I’ll be ping-ponging off the walls, so this is the next best thing)
Sorry to hear about your friend, rigs. Meant to mention that earlier… I blame a bad case of the blurfs.
Hugs, yays, boos, etc for everyone else to be distributed as needed… must run back to my meeting and be a productive employee (or at least provide a reasonable fascimile thereof)
I was viciously sick with Nat. I’m now being scheduled for an appointment with the midwives who delivered Nat, and I’m going to immediately demand a couple week’s worth of anti-nausea stuff, just in case. Yes, before I develop symptoms, dammit. I remember last time.
On the bright side, all I could eat for three months were potatoes and gravy and chocolate milkshakes, which might be considered kind of fun. Except for the puking part.
How are you and your family doing, Muppet?
And Soapy, thank you for starting that thread.
I’ve already co-opted Quasi-Daughter as my doula. Again. She sort of volunteered. She’s brave.
YAY, LiLi!!!
Today was very rainy, and it started badly at work. I was the first one in, and I couldn’t get the office unlocked. We have digital combination lock - you dial the 3 numbers, then it says OP for open, and you turn till it unlatches. Well, I’d get the OP, then it’d go off, and the numbers would start again. I tried it 4 times, then the head security guy came by, and I did it 3 more times. So he said he’d call a locksmith.
That left me with nowhere to go. I sat in the lobby for a little while, then went to the Ops Center to try to access my email, but my roaming profile was hosed. I left there and went to my old office to use their internet terminal. Back to discover the locksmith still hadn’t come, so I went to the tech library to hang out with them. After that, I went back and it was finally open. Two hours wasted.
The day didn’t get much better. But I’m home now, so there’s that.
It’s still raining. I had to run the furnace to take the chill out of the house. Who stole spring again??
Off to check on my poke chops - they’re defrosting in a big bowl o’water. Sides will be cabbage, and shrooms-with-onions. nomnomnom! Maybe rice, too.
Congrats LiLi! Just think in a couple of years they can gang up on you and Mr. Lissar.
rigs I’m sorry about your friend. Those are the ones that make you go why. I mean, do everything right and still…
Yays, boos, hugs, welcome backs, trouts, chitlins, nougies and how you doin’s as needed.
Tonight is men’s night at church. I’m bein’ good today and goin’ early to help peel N.O.T. for garlic smashed N.O.T. and help peel veggies for crunchy sallit. Crunchy sallit is any fresh veggies ya like chunked up in a sallit. Any veggie ya like raw will work. So, it’s not really a recipe but just a bunch of raw veggies chunked up and served as a sallit. It’s a nice sallit for summer time when lots of fresh veggies are around. Y’all should try it.
Anywho, ol’ y’all know who will show up with the steaks and beer under penalty of death. Ok, maybe just sad puppy dog eyes, but they are his responsibility tonight.
Tummy is growlin’ at me so maybe I should give it a snack.
Later Y’all!
It’s spring cleaning day here.
I woke up to find DH had pulled down most of the curtains in the house to de-spiderify the walls behind them and to wash the actual curtains.
Keeping in the spirit of the cleaning, it was also Dressing Changing Day. My post-op instructions said to leave the dressing alone for five days, so it was due. It was also starting to come loose on one edge. DH is such a wuss - he was worried about how it looked, so he called over Nifty Nurse Neighbor, who pronounced it fine and dandy. I’m trusting her as I can’t see it. So, a fresh dressing goes on. Feels nice just to have a smaller dressing - went from something the size of a salad plate down to a 2" square bit of gauze.
Back to work tomorrow. The “I wanna get up and do somethings” have finally overtaken the “Ah, I just want to lay down and do nothings.”
That almost never happens to me.
LiLi, I don’t know if this will help, but almost every woman I know who had horrible morning sickness during her first pregnancy had very little trouble with it during her second. And if that’s not the case, my college roommate swears that two sips of beer will solve all your problems.
Congrats, LiLi! You’re going to have your hands full indeed, aren’t you?
I’m glad you’re healing so well, gotti. I’m not sure what your rush to go back to work is, though. It’s not often you have such a good excuse to stay home!
I’m sorry about your friend, Rigs.
I got not much today. I worked till all hours last night – between needing to get a job done and having massive insomnia anyway, I got piles done. And then I took a lovely nap in the recliner this afternoon. Isaac has not even suggested going out to play today; heck, he’s hardly even suggested going out to pee! I think he got well worn out this weekend, which is a Very Good Thing since it’s been raining all day and he wouldn’t have gotten to go out in any case.
Back to knitting or something.
I was going to lay outside today and finish up my current Salman Rushdie novel (Fury), but then A HAILSTORM came. And now it’s too wet to lie around outside.
Yesterday we discovered Zeldadog has the early signs of hip dysplasia. It’s not too bad yet, but she’s definitely favoring one side, which explains why she’s started chasing her tail all of a sudden. Other than that it doesn’t seem to bother her too much, but it’s looking like she’s only got four years or so left. She’s six now. Still, ten years for a 64 pound dog is a pretty good run.
(from last week’s MMP)
That is sad that there will be no one left with first hand experiences - but a good thing that many of the survivors put the stories to paper.
YAY!!! Drae’s back!!! (her front and apparently her insides as well)
Last night I was going to type “inquiring minds want to know”
of course we do - I had even sent you a few sporadic emails but you never answered
ow and oy!
and to VBob: Bad, Bobbio! Bad! No biscuit! (had you left well enough along, I might have foregone this comment, but no - you had to push the envelope)
Congrats!!
what “almost”? with me - just plain “never”!
It’s rainy and dreary today and will be until Wednesday afternoon - so I am depositing a super BLURF which should just about cover it.
I came home early from work because I had a headache that would not quit. I took a hydrocodone and then took my blood pressure. It was kind of elevated - 144/99 - so I called the doctor. He advised me to take Tylenol for the headache, take my blood pressure every 4-6 hrs, and come see him tomorrow.
Pressure’s back to normal, and the headache is about gone. Scary!
In other news, ReboSon starts a new job tomorrow, and hopefully will get more hours to pay his bills!
Gonna make a chicken pot pie for dinner. I picked the chicken meat yesterday, so it’s a simple throw together dinner.
Hugs and smooches to all!
I thought I would be canceled because the schedule was so light, but a coworker called in, so I worked. A nice day.
I’m home and OFF tomorrow–and I’m not answering the phone–because I start my insane schedule of working the next 10 days out of 11. Gah.
Where is Ed McMahon with my check?
Congrats, LiLi! Someday you’ll figure out why this is happening and then you can stop it!
