I feel honored to have known you through the miracle of the Internet and the one time we met in person, in Norfolk.
May you enjoy retirement, and contribute as worthily, if perhaps not as often, to the world-wide community that is these boards, because we’ll miss your wisdom and gentleness if you don’t pop in from time to time.

And I think it’s absolutely terrific that Unka Cece is giving you full retirement benefits – the Doper public may not be aware that Uncle Beer is getting fully as much salary from the Straight Dope in retirement as he did as an active Mod.
For whatever reason, I read the latter part of this sentence as “and the one time we met in prison, in Norfolk.” The image of Polycarp and UncleBeer incarcerated together in their orange jumpsuits has had me in tears for the last 10 minutes. I pictured Polycarp singing “Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen” while UncleBeer blows softly and sadly on an aging harmonica.
