A Tough One: Gallery Wire.

This is a purely mundane question, but I’ve been searching for years and haven’t even come close to the answer.

There is a product called gallery wire (aka gallery strip) that is used by silversmiths. It is a very intricate pierced material used for making elaborate settings for gems.

It can be bought retail at great expense from large jewelry suppliers–but who actually /manufactures/ the stuff? And how?

This has got to be right up there with the Best Kept Secrets of All Time, along with “What Size Trowel Does Tammy Faye Use?”.

This was a tough one alright. One problem was the stuff is more commonly known as bezel wire.
Anyway, check out this site.:

If this is the stuff you’re talking about, then Hoover & Strong makes it. Visit their site here:

I hope that helps, and welcome to SDMB.

Hey, thanks, TNTruth. I think you’re right. I’ll pester them
a bit on Monday.

Thanks for the welcome. I just found the Board today, and already it looks like more fun than rolling down a hill in a barrel of barbed wire, hittin’ a big rock, and bouncing into a lake of boiling lemonade…

Please allow mw to be the first to invite you to MIPSIMS:
You’re gonna fit in just fine…
