A Very Early and Stolen MMP

What, this isn’t innocent enough for ya? Yup, that really is me.
So I had a little adventure. Daydreaming as always, I went to my car, got in it, and drove like four feet. Felt some thing weird. Jumped out, and saw my right front tire was flat. A pancake.

So the first thing I do is use the cell phone I fought getting tooth and nail to call my SO. He says he’ll be right over.

I get out all the tools and the donut, and take out the owner’s guide. I mean, I know how to do it, I just wanted a refresher. It says “Loosen the lugnuts first.” Great. That’s like the hardest job. I attach the tool-thingy, and twist and twist but nothing budges. Four people stop to ask if I need help, but I tell them my SO is coming so no worries.

Finally a fight one stops - Gaelan. He insists on doing it, even though he’s wearing a nice white button-down and a tie. I keep protesting, saying he’s going to get filthy, but he doesn’t listen.

So he gets the lugnuts open, and I jack up the car, and together we change the tire. I offered to pay him but of course he wouldn’t let me. He walks away, across the street to Hannaford, and my SO pulls up. I wave frantically, and when he gets out of the car I say, “I don’t suppose you’d believe me if I told you I changed it myself?”

Anyway, he asks me who did it, and I point, and I say “That guy waaaaaaaaay over there, in the white shirt.” And indeed, you could still see Gaelan, walking across the Hannaford parking lot.

What a nice guy. He works in my building, so maybe I’ll bake him a cake or something.

As for MMP, it’s gotta be Bus Guy! Bus Guy! Pleeeeeeeeeeease?

Er…“fight” one should be fifth one. Don’t know what happened there!

Bus Guy Bus Guy Bus Guy !!!

Gotta be–but tis only Thursday–why are we so organized this week?

#1 son is going to his 8th grade dance Friday noc. My baby-amongst all those nasty girls. What’s a mother to do?
He is going stag, as are all his [del]geeky[/del] nice friends. (hey-I like geeks, but some of these boys take geekdom to stratospheric levels). Last year, #1 son had two “girlfriends”–he was a “playuh”. This year–WoW has sucked out his soul…
Oh, look! more rain on the way! How exciting.

I like it better than DogButt

TWO,MBG Wow! It’s only a flesh wound, I guess.
LiLi Congrats!

I haven’t been stabbed/shot/threatened, but IAATMGWABTC*

Maggie and i went to the dog park today. It was hound day, 4 beagles, 3 bassets. Pic

*[sub][sub] I am a twitchy mumbling guy with a black trench coat[/sub][/sub]

Seriously? In miles - about 25. In cyberspace, that’s pretty close.

Whoo! I just had these wings. It was like when Sylvester Cat would eat a pepper or something, and his stack would blow and smoke would come out of his ears and you’d hear a train whistle. That’s exactly what it was like. And I’m used to spicy food and most American levels of spiciness hardly faze me. But this wing, seared my throat I think.
They were the best wings I ever had.

Congrats on the tire, BTW.

Off to plant before even MORE rain comes our way. (can you get trench foot in the suburbs?)

Just for the record, I’m voting with the MMP and not with the crickets on the “Drae should switch doctors” motion. Sounds like partner was at least somewhat better than original non-surgeon doctor. Hope you’re doing better tonight.

Yay for the new baby!! Welcome Ryan! (And pictures…we need pictures…the kid is aging fast…)

And welcome YaWanna. The charm of the MMP is that you can pretty much start in anywhere and still be on-topic because, well, there’s not really a topic. Or rather, it shifts frequently.

And here’s another vote for Mr. Bus Guy.

There was more, but I can’t remember what; and I’m tired. Spent just about all day in meetings. Long meetings. And, unfortunately, they were meetings where I had to sit back, listen and be polite. And think about the work I wasn’t doing. Some of it was interesting, but…long.

dogbutt, sorry, I like that… :stuck_out_tongue: Maggie is a cutie! Speaking of dogs, see, there’s this therapy dog that visits work for one of our programs that has stolen my (and everybody’s at work) heart. He is up for a big time award sponsored by Pedigree Dog Food. Normally, I don’t do stuff like this and I’m not sure if I’ll get a mod smack down for doin’ it, but, I’m gonna point y’all to a website where y’all can vote for Hero. He’s the yellow lab with the blue bandana. According to the site everybody can vote once a day. Heh. I’ve been doing it from work and home, cause it’s different email addresses. Hero’s humans are also members of my church, which makes it even more special for me. So, I’m encouraging y’all to give Hero some votes. Of course, if any of you happen to have knowledge of any of the other dogs, then please vote for that dog. I think this is such a cool thing!

Oh, and I cast my vote for MBG to host next week’s MMP.

I’d like to make an announcement.

I will be off the air starting tomorrow and all through the end of next week, as Vunderwife and I are heading for Indianner tomorrow to see the VunderKind gradjumacate from high skrewel. Well not completely silent, but net access will be dicey while we’re gone.

Before we hit the open road tomorrow afteroon, we’re going to see the realtor in the morning to put a contingent offer on the potential VunderLair we found 2 weekends ago. The contingent part is because we were promised that our mortgage app would be done yesterday, and it’s still cooking.

Ellen, we’re spending the night in Charleston, so you’ll know to look for us honking and waving as we pass Lexington around 8 AM. 0930 for Rue as we go through Cinncinnati…

I promise lots of shots of proud parents and freaked out kid upon return…

Drive safe! And congrats to the graduate.
Holy crap! It IS official–I just got an email about my rooming arrangements for grad school!

I am going to grad school!

(Would it be churlish to say that I don’t want a roomie?) eek.

Hi, y’all! And a big cool kid welcome to the newbies! The more the merrier, I always say. Well, I don’t really always say it, but - you know what I mean!

Yay to new babies!

I’m feeling better this evening. I went to work today, and dragged butt a bit, but I survived. Cycling back up.

Gotta go catch ER - later gators!

Yay Rigs!!
OK - I just want to say what a success our first night of a 5 week membership drive program was. WOW. Best response in YEARS. More than a dozen potential Divas showed up to join our chorus, and there are more coming next week who weren’t able to get there tonight. so YAY! We’re gonna GROW!

MBG, etc.

I’ve been packing. I’m a packing sort of creature. A pack horse. My throat isn’t hoarse though, so no worries there. A pack rat? I’m not treacherous or cowardly. A pack mule? Yes. I am quite stubborn.

Ok, Ok…glaring at lili

Geez, now I have to get all creative and stuff…

One of my favorite days of the year today, I got to hand out a scholarship. My family gives away a modest ($1000) scholarship at my old high school in Dad’s name. He was the school board Peez for 22 years, (got a Jr. High School named for him in town (That the Kid got to graduate from and got to have me hand her the diploma from…) so we fund a gift each year to a graduating senior that meets our standards. Those being high academic achievement and a commitment to public service. This year’s recipient was 4th in her class, carried a 4.77, missed ONE day of school since 2nd grade, has run the Senior Prom for 2 years (an event the NHS holds for local old folks), runs food drives, pets kittens, and who knows what all other sorts of good deeds.

Nice kid to talk to too. Felt good handing her a check in front of her entire school.

OK…there’s one I missed along the way… Hope you’re feeling better quickly, Rebo.

You’re completely bypassing Columbus on purpose, aren’t you, Bobbio? Have a safe and fun trip!

Scholarship sounds cool, MBG! Oh, and yay!! MBG is starting the MMP on Monday. Yay!!! Which somehow reminds me: BusWife did not either look fat in the picture.

Rigs, in case you’re wondering, they tell me you’re going to grad school. So, is the roomie thing just for boot camp or are you going to have to be away from home more often, or what?

dogbutler, you are aware that swampy regularly wins awards for juvenility, right?

Lots to do. I’m hoping to get out of here early this morning. Got lots to do tonight and even more tomorrow…

Happy Friday everyone!!!

GT

Wow, am I far behind this week.

Yea Rigs! Have fun at school.
Drae, if the appendix is a problem, just have them pull it. I got mine removed when I was six months old, and haven’t had any problems.

VBob, have a good trip. Keeping my fingers crossed for you on the house thing.

And swampy, you didn’t write a letter to Dear Abbey lately, have you? I could have sworn the one printed yesterday was from you.

Good morning and Happy Friday everyone!

I slept well last night and feel pretty good this morning. Finally! Everybody at the Reborn house is mad at me though. I made jambalaya last night, and it was VERY spicy, and both hubby and Dad woke up with screaming heartburn in the middle of the night. Not me though! I slept like a baby! Wussies. Tonight we’ll have some mild corned beef and cabbage, and cornbread.

This weekend is hubby’s birthday, and for his present he bought tickets to see Bill Engvall the comedian. You know, he’s from the Blue Collar comedy tour? The one who says, “Here’s your sign.” The theater is downtown, and we’re going to some fancy schmancy restaurant for dinner before the show. Should be a good time!

This is just for boot camp.

<whining> It can take me an entire semester to get used to someone. I dont’ like roomies. (I’ve had good and bad ones; the best ones were where we shared the apt, but had seperate bedrooms).

I am lunching with a recent grad of this program–I will ask her about it today.

Busy today–forgot to do 2 errands yesterday–argh. And this lunch thingy, finish planting-IT WILL NOT RAIN TODAY–and #1 son’s 8th dance tonoc. Oh, and work in the AM.

Husband is going out drinking, downtown (hey-that’s what he told me), so I am on carpool duty for the end of the dance (10:30–waaaaay past my noc before work bedtime). <still whining>

Ah, well-it’s a nice day out today.

 Yikes, dolores, don’t you like those guys? I mean cooked cabbage is like Draino to my system. Then again, if you regularly serve them spicey cajun, they are prolly used to it.

mbg for mmp! Yay!

rigs, how long will boot camp last?

dogler, is that dog park as spiffy as their web site? We’ve got a couple around here but they are more like afterthoughts.

bobbio, have a safe and fun trip.

I am going to see The DaVinci Code this afternoon with The Princess[sup]TM[/sup]. Yes, I know it’s getting bad reviews but, c’mon, it’s Tom Hanks. How bad can it be?
