A Very Memorable MMP

you sure you’re not Jewish?

You are a very good friend swampy. It scares me to think that I might not have the patience to help someone like that repeatedly. Cuz it’s just not complicated!

Dotty - it’s very freaky to see you here today. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. I was just thinking about you yesterday, wondering if the baby had arrived OK. Thanks for answering my telepathic question. She’s a doll.

Thanks for not throwing up in the thread, LiLi. It’s very polite of you to leave the computer to do that.

I saw your thread before I got to the MMP, SCL, but here are a few more hugs…

I like the “Cucaracha” singing part, Meeks. Will you be bringing a camera that does video? I’m hoping for a Chicago-ish Dopefest on September 7th, so if he doesn’t sing at the airport, maybe he’ll sing then?

Also, I also vote for grabbing the house while you can. Might be good to talk to the landlady again to make sure you’re comfortable with her and get to talk about some of the issues others have mentioned.

Yelling DM sounds like no fun, doggio. I’m guessing vacation can’t get here too soon?

I’ve once again decided against planting more annuals. Maybe tomorrow. Instead, I think I’ll go for a walk.

Hi to everyone I’ve missed!!!

Back later.

{{{{SCL}}}}

Today was a busy day. I had an interview at 10:30, then I had to do a background check thingy, while the recruiter pumped me for info about my old job, as she’s trying to fill several positions there, but not having any luck, then I went and visited a friend at my old firm for about an hour, then I went to lunch, YUM! and *then *I got a haircut.

My hair looks good. I’ll see if I can get a picture of it later. The stylist regretted not having a before and after picture, since I looked pretty dreadful before. I think I need to go get a message tomorrow.

Yes, I got the job. I start next Thursday. It’s a short-term contract, but I think it will be fun. Naturally, it’s not the job the recruiter said it was, it’s much better. Plus, I got the hourly rate I wanted. And, and, and, they only work 7.5 hour days! Woo hoo!

I was checking out the site about the artsfest today, and I found out where my booth will be. I also found out that my teacher from the ceramics class I just took will be there, also doing demonstrations. Luckily we’ll be in two different sections. She’ll be there representing the college, so I don’t know if she’ll be selling stuff - but it looks like she and I will be the only potters there.

I threw a few pieces today for ME! I’m making a toothbrush holder, a soap dish, and a Dixie cup holder. Plus I put underglaze on a dish and all of the medallions. I need to get some fancy cord to make the medallions into necklaces. And I need to finish 2 kitty heads. Ya know, I have a LOT to get done! Whew!

Is it Friday yet???

Woohoo! Jahdra!!

Well, I’m home, and dinner’s cookin’. (Krap Mac 'n Cheese. Well, egg noodles to be precise – I am dismayed to learn that they have reduced the size of the egg noodles so they’re just tiny little toilet paper squares of pasta. Cheap!)

I’m so sorry to hear about Gwen, Snakes – she was a beautiful kitty – but she passed on having spent her long days in a loving and nurturing home, and that’s all one can hope for, really. I’m giving my menagerie some extra pettins tonight, plus some gooshyfood.

Off to stir the pot.

Y’all are crazy, you haven’t heard me sing.

Really??? The 7th? That’s the Wife’s wedding anniversary, so she’ll HAVE to come along, so everyone can commiserate with her for [del]having[/del] getting to live with me.

Or Scandinavian? Or closeted Lutheran?

Hopefully not in the ACBG sense…

What’s wrong with a good office romance?

Are you pregnant? That’s what I ate for breakfast every day for about 6 months when I was pregnant…

Dinner for us was grilled steak kebabs, grilled portobellos, salad, and baked NOTs.

I wish I could cook for you too, Rosie.

I got the sweetest thank you note from my sister-in-law - raving about my gumbo! That made me feel good.

Us? Crazy? What was your first clue?

Yes, September 7th, as I announced approximately 1 million years ago…

Off to beddy bye…

GT

Wow, you ate breakfast when you were pregnant, Rebo? I’m impressed.

SCL, I’m so sorry. She was a beautiful cat.

Ugh. Mr. Lissar coughed until he threw up twice today, but he’s still going to work tomorrow, because there’s some screwup with calculating his this year’s sick days, and if he takes tomorrow off it’ll cut into his vacation time. So he’s going to go in. I hope he throws up on his boss’s shoes. The one who thinks he’s slacking.

Taking meds and off to bed. See ya.

Aw, SCL, I’m so sorry. Big hugs to you. It’s so hard to lose a pet. To me, they’re family members, not just possessions. I still miss all my previous pets.

Congrats Jahdra, on the new do and the new job!

Swampster, bwahahahahahaha, Tatas indeed! :stuck_out_tongue: You’re a funny man. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope you get that job.

I went downstairs today to speak with my new office mates and one of my bosses. My move is just a week away! Time just flies when you’re having fun. At any rate, I’m looking at this more and more positively. I don’t like where my desk is, but there’s nothing that can be done about that. My back will be facing the door, as will my monitor. Call me quirky, but I have a real thing about having my back to the door. I don’t like people coming up behind me. Maybe, in time, I can get a better set up.

Another positive is that I’ll be back on an alternative work schedule. WOOT! I’ve really missed having every other Friday off. Sure, the work days are a little longer, but it’s worth it to me.

We had a nice long conversation about what I’d be doing, and how much they expect out of me in the beginning. I’m still slightly nervous because I always want to do well, no matter how I feel about my job.

It was hot again today, but not quite as hot as yesterday. It was a whole six degrees cooler! I guess I shouldn’t complain. Our spring has mostly been gray, dreary and cold.

I’m going to read a couple of threads now. Hugs to all!

SCL, my condolences. Sending some nice thoughts your way.

Jahdra, woohoo!!! That’s amazing. . . better than the recruiter described. . .how often does that happen?! Congratulations and I hope the job is fun. I was just about to tell you the story where someone told me that I look better dressed also. (He had not seen me without clothes; it’s a long story). But you sound like you’re past that, so good deal.
**
rosie**, you’re sounding great. Maybe when you’re feeling better, you can share with us (me) if you would do anything differently about your experience for those of us (me) that might be in the same position in the future.

Dotty, nice to meet you.

Mork, I hope you get a better night’s sleep tonight. Sleep well.

(((((SCL))))) - I don’t blame you for not wanting to go with Mr SCL to bury Gwen, I was so glad when the vets said they would deal with everything when we lost Orly, I don’t think I could have done it. All we had to do was go and collect her little casket of ashes and that was bad enough.

LiLi, I hope you and Mr Lissar have a bathroom each, what with all this barfing going on…

Rosie - how’s the bioknee today?

Swampus, I can keep appendages crossed but I hope there won’t be any nekkid interviewing. This is a family thread.

Doggio - yay for Maggie!

It’s finally Friday, I know it was only a four-day week but I’m so tired. I went to my friend’s house last night so we could update ourselves on our Run For Home plans as well as starting to work out how to make our costumes for the event. We’ve now decided that eight metres of bright orange sheeting isn’t going to be enough. We seem to have miscalculated a bit - not unusual for us though, a few years ago we made Greek Soldier outfits and had to go back to the same stall in the market about three times for more material. The lady who ran it much have thought we were a right pair of barmpots.

'im indoors is a consultant. So double or triple that.

{{{SCL}}}. Yes, I saw the other thread but, dunnow…

taxi, I don’t know how to explain churros, it’s a kind of pastry eaten exclusively with the chocolate a la taza. At least, I’ve never met anybody who eats them otherwise. Chocolate a la taza is made by adding powdered chocolate to quasi-boiling milk (you know it’s hot enough because you’ve actually brought it to a boil and stopped it); the usual ratio if you’re starting with a tablet is two squares of chocolate and a cup of milk per person. After the chocolate has dissolved, pour it into cups to cool. Sunday morning chocolate a la taza was an unexpected bonus of my dorm… we made sure to keep the secret or there would have been applications up the wazoo! It was so thick it came off the walls before you managed to pierce it, yum!

Those of us who find churros too sweet use bars of toast or croissants instead. It’s a traditional breakfast, even more so after a night of celebration (empalmada, sticking two days together). You’ve been up all night, maybe watched the sunset at the beach (if such a beach is available) or the bullruns (again not available every day and everywhere), then you go for some chocolate con churros and to sh-yawn-sh-shleeeep…

dottie, is it too early to try and set Noor up with The Nephew? ducks

Good wishes to y’all on the unemployment wagon.

My boss didn’t want to accept my hours because I had “too many” one day. Last week was 8-11-8-8-5. He kept telling me my average has to be 8 and, well, if I work more one day it should be because there was a lot of work. I was finally able to get it through his skull that
a) those 5 hours on Friday had been to bring the average down to 8. It’s called “compensating the hours.” I’d rather leave early to compensate than do overtime. I do get paid for overtime but I loathe it, specially when I happen to spend a lot of time considering the non-décor of this place.
b) it’s not my fault that the 2pm meeting didn’t start until 5.
Since I get paid by the hour, he wasn’t worried about that 5 on Friday, only about the 11 hour day :stuck_out_tongue:
He’s told me to come in later. Shrug, guess I’ll start doing my shopping before I come in instead of after. But it sucks.

LiLi, bosses like your husband’s are bad for health, but for some reason they never realize that the presence of their miasma raises employees’ blood pressure and produces dizziness.

Good morning everyone! I’m up and about to caffeinate.

I think I forgot to congratulate you on the new job, Jahdra, not to mention the haircut!

Also, good luck on the interview, swampy. Please remember to wear clothes. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve had churros; they’re yummy. And here’s more detail, in case anyone’s interested.

Your boss sounds very pointy-haired, Nava. I’m grateful for an extremely reasonable boss. And hope that I continue to have reasonable bosses. We’re just starting with changes due to having a new big boss. So far, so good, I think. (Big boss appears to be very very sharp, but when you work for the state, there are always politics involved, so I’m sure there will be some new execs who aren’t quite as impressive.)

Hi rosie! Glad to see you getting close to leaving the house.

Well…need to do some cleaning and watering. It’s supposed to be 89 degrees Amurrkin today and 90 tomorrow and…I hope…80 on Sunday.

Yay! It’s Friday!!! (No gloating about how your weekend started yesterday, SO.)

GT

Caffeinated and off to work again(Enjoy your weekends, Mika, and Special One)
Here’s something from Skippy’s List that I have remind myself of more and more:
48. I may not use public masturbation as a tool to demonstrate a flaw in a command decision.

Morning all! Friday is (finally!) here and all is right with the world … well, most maybe.

I’m up and caffeinating, paid a bill online first thing, now must go purtify for work (lol hope Swampy doesn’t mind me borrowing his word there!). So glad the weekend is nearly here. Hope everyone has a good, productive day.
