Good mornin’ y’all! I’m up and caffienated too. We actually had some rain late yesterday afternoon and looks like some more over the weekend. YAY! No, I do not care if it rains on the weekend. We need it so much. A certain somebody is still abed enjoyin’ his Friday mornin’ sleep in. I’ll let him. Might even go pounce on him.
Oh and the smoke is less this mornin’ too. I’m hopin’ there’ll be enough rain around where the wildfires are to help. They are now 75% contained. Come on tropical system thingy!
We’ll go take care of friend today and probably go have lunch with him cause he’s kinda lonely. His partner is out of town until Sunday takin’ care of some estate business of his mom’s who died in February. Then, who knows… I took some burgers out to thaw for supper. I’m thinkin’ burgers and fries. YUM!
Oh and just so everybody is clear… I am goin’ on a real job interview. Nekkid interverin’ only happens in pR0n movies. At least that’s what I’m told cause I’ve never ever seen any…
I’m up, caffeinating, and IT’S FRIIIIIIDAAAAAAAYYY!
It’s an overcast, muggy, and soon-to-be-rainy Friday, but it’s still on my Christmas card list.
Swampy - Well, I think it really depends on the job, doesn’t it? I’m certain there must be some that don’t preclude nekkid interviews. They might not be the sort of jobs you want to tell mom about, though. Burgers sound good though. Burburcued burgers. Marinated in Worcestershire. Topped with onions, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, mustard, mayo, and HP. And possibly cheese. Or maybe just cheese and chili and a dollop of sour cream. Mmmmmm.
Dang. Is it quitting time, yet?
Nava - Ooh. Consultants. They’re almost as bad as gossipy hens when it comes to unsolicited advice. Maybe worse, because advice is what they get paid for. As for the chocolate a la taza, how big are these squares? I’m having a hard (but delicious) time envisioning how two squares (which to me is like a couple of small squares of baker’s chocolate) of chocolate can thicken one cup of milk that much. It sounds unhealthily delicious – which naturally means I am intrigued. I’ve made thick caramel sauce by melting Werther’s Originals with some table cream (and for the record, it’s awesome, though it would be better with real English cream caramels) but not chocolate.
Heff - I slept much better the last couple of nights, thank you; with the A/C finally turned on in the building, it has made for much more comfortable sleeping (and for that matter, waking) conditions. Doubly so considering how humid it has been the last couple of days, and probably will be for the rest of the weekend.
I didn’t want to get out of bed this early. I don’t sleep well because the bedroom a/c doesn’t work too well. And I have a sneaking suspicion that the big a/c in the LR is on its last legs too. Their both 12 years old, and the big one has been repaired three times already. I cannot live without a/c.
doggio I do not know what prompted the comment on Skippy’s List. Nope, nossir I DO NOT!
Here is a Giant Bunch of Dumb for you all to consider. There is a woman here at work that downloaded a PowerPoint presentation, which she wants to show to potential donors. She wanted to burn it onto a DVD, so she could just take it along in her purse, I guess, and pop it into the DVD player wherever she was, and they could watch it on TV! Can you count how many stupids there are in that plan? Once it was explained that this was not possible, there was much other whining and complaining about having to take a laptop to show the PowerPoint on, since she admitted she didn’t know what version of PowerPoint they might have, or even what the computer set-up would be when she went to make the presentations. And besides, the speakers on her laptop weren’t very good, so “you mean I’d have to BRING SPEAKERS TOO??” Well if you want them to hear the presentation, you do! Geez lady, are you trying to raise money or not? Get a clue and quit being so lazy!
Le Grr.
Anyway, my happy-happy today is how my darling baby Cherry is talking! The words are just FLOWING out of him. For so long he has “talked” but we rarely knew what he was saying. Words are now coalescing and we can understand him. And he’s such a goofball too. He does these funny voices, and makes jokes. 2-year-olds are such a rare treat.
HP? Why would I want to top a burger with a puter? I’m thinkin’ bacon/cheese burgers. I don’t have any burly butcher bacon but I do have regular ol’ smoked bacon, so that’ll do. With lettuce, tomato, pickle, mustard and ketchup. Some mayo for ol’ y’all know who cause he’s a heathen. Cheeseburgers… yum… everybody sing!
Ok, somebody has arisen and is foragin’ for breakfast. He found graham crackers and peanut butter. Guess I best get him cleaned up so’s we can go take care of friend.
Morning, all. I’m sleepy, too; looks like everyone’s suffering from a case of the Fridays, except for our annoying weekenders. Pbbtht!
I don’t have much this morning. Alice got called to go in to work, which she was actually hoping for since she’d been left off the schedule for today and she usually works Fridays; so it’s just me and the pups, and Her Majesty Emily, of course, and I’m not sure who’s sleepier. I’m finally starting to sleep soundly, for the first time since I turned bionic – and not just for an hour or two, but for a whole night; it’s quite lovely. Except when it comes time to get up, of course.
I guess I should go to work; I’ve got oodles of it, and sitting here caffeinating and knitting doesn’t get it done. Sigh.
Bed was so comfy that I got lazy. And it’s hot. And it’s my Other Day Off. As soon as I can walk without puking I’ve got to do the laundry and pick up my cheque. Probably some other stuff, too. Vacuuming, and maybe cleaning the kitchen.
Maybe.
Yawn. Time to lie on the couch.
I’ve had churros. They used to sell them at Costco. They’re good, but would have been better dipped in chocolate.
By two months, I was sleeping about three hours at a stretch, and it started improving rapidly from there. Now at three months I’m up to a full night’s sleep, but it’s only been in the last week or so. Even if I have to get up to pee, I can crawl back in and go right back to sleep no problem. Now, mind you, I can’t get to sleep till the wee hours so my whole sleep schedule has shifted a couple hours later than I like it to be, but to sleep all night? I’ll take it anyway!
And I’m actually beginning to have stretches of an hour or two where I don’t even notice my knee now, Rosie. The therapist told me it would be six months to a year before I’d go whole days without noticing it, so clearly progress is being made. You’re, what, five or six weeks or so out from surgery now? You’re at the point where more rapid progress should happen, too. This surgery just takes a lot longer to heal than I like to accept! Even after my thumb joint replacement some years ago, which involved two months in a cast and then another 3-4 months of therapy, I felt like progress was made much, much faster than with this silly knee. But then, of course, my thumb didn’t have to take my full body weight every time I stood up.
Tigs - check your email
I miss coffee. I haven’t had a good cuppa since before the surgery. When my bro was here, he brought me deli coffee but it wasn’t exactly how I liked it. It was good, but not great. I want a really great cuppa!
eta - starting Monday, I am going to practice my normal hours. Up and dressed by 8am, and out of bed til at least 8pm. Not sure what I’ll find to do, because my living room TV watching chair is still a little low for me. I suppose I could pile a pillow or two on it. But if next Thursday the doc says I can return to work, I better be able to handle it.
First you tell us all about the appreciatin’ you do and now we’ve got to hear about the pouncin’ too??
I thought he was talking about putting Harry Potter on a burger!
Congrats on the baby, Dotty! She’s beautiful.
Yay on the job, Jah!
I went to the chiropractor yesterday for my shoulder which has been bothering me for months now. It looks like it’s some of the same neck vertebrae that caused me neck pain years ago. They’re tugging on the muscle that goes down into my shoulder/back. Yippee. I’ve got 3 more appts to try to fix it. At least it should be fixable.
This is my first summer hours half-day Friday. I think I’m also going to go for my first pedicure of the summer season today. (No reason to get pretty toenails until it’s sandal season.) Yay!
[DRIVE-BY MODE] Hello, all. I’m busy trying to get work done so I can take the afternoon off but wanted to catch up and also tell SCL how much my heart aches for her. Beloved pets leave great big holes when they pass on.
Back from aiding techno-challenged friend and lunch. We went and had some good pizza and salad from a local pizza place. Anywho, friend can now watch BBC America again so he’s happy. He’ll be watchin’ Brit shows all weekend. Oh and I also updated the antivirus on his puter. Somehow, since his partner has been away for a couple weeks too, I just knew that hadn’t been done. He needs to renew his subscript in a month too. Hopefully partner will take care of that. He usually has the presence of mind to do such things. Usually. Not always, mind you, so remindin’ shall ensue.
Oh and I think I was headhunted… I had this email from a consulting firm expressing interest in possibly talking to me. I emailed a copy of my resume (one of these days I will learn how to do the fancy little mark over that last e). I know it would involve a lot of travelin’ cause, duh, cosultin’ just does but one never knows what opportunities might await one if one doesn’t at least see what it’s all about. We shall see.
Now, I think it’s nap time. Well, somebody has expressed an interest in pilin’ up in the bed, so who knows how that will turn out.
