A very simple ice cream poll

Oh, yeah, I know. And the other dog never got more than maybe half a teaspoon. Or he could lick the empty carton.

Our current dog likes veggies, so he gets carrots for treats.

I have a friend at work whose dog is the same way

My recent addiction is Blue Bunny Vanilla Bean with cherry pie filling as a topping. Now that’s good eatin’!

a good vanilla is surprisingly good. I’ve gotten Ben and Jerry vanilla but the best vanilla is blue bell

Those Blue Bunny Sundaes look tasty.

Bought a pint of B & J’s vanilla a few weeks ago to top a huckleberry pie I made. I only buy the good stuff for my pies.

I love plain vanilla ice cream. The best is made with real vanilla beans, but I’ll take the cheaper stuff if nothing else is available.

Of course you can add all kinds of delicious toppings, but it’s the aromatic vanilla that does it for me.

Brand doesn’t really matter much. I’ll buy B&J, H-D, Breyers, whatever is in the supermarket freezer.

Runners up to vanilla are Plain Strawberry, Rum Cherry, Lemon Cream, Dutch Chocolate, Dutch Apple, and PEACH!!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I went to language school at Middlebury in Vermont. One of the best perks was a steady supply of B&J ice cream in the cafeteria. Yum!

I only just recently bought Ben and Jerry’s for the first time. It’s already gone, yet Mrs. L and I didn’t have any.

The answer, Alton, is that for many Americans, TL:DR.

My God, man, what could you fit into a freezer that tiny?

A four-pack of Hot Pockets, maybe.

So for vanilla aficianados, do you prefer regular vanilla, vanilla bean (with visible flecks of vanilla bean), or French vanilla?

Ah, for me, that would be incorrectly assigning a discriminating palate for vanilla, french vanilla is ok, vanilla bean is better plain vanilla is absolutely acceptable. This does depend on the quality of the ice cream, I’ve had crap french and vanilla bean. In the end though, it’s all vanilla to me.

Hear, hear!

I remember the episode of Gilligan’s Island where Gilligan has three wishes and he blows two of them on ice cream, which magically arrives floating in the lagoon or falls out of the sky.

The first time, it’s chocolate. The second time it’s vanilla, but not before Mr Howell says “If you’re going to wish for vanilla, why not French Vanilla?” Sure enough, that’s what he got.

I always thought that was a nice touch. I’d’ve wished for French Vanilla too. :+1:

Yes…

Seconded! :yum:

IIRC correctly, a couple of ice trays (which it struggled to actually freeze although it was somehow in constant need of defrosting).

Does anyone remember Safeway-brand Homestyle vanilla ice cream? It was sooooo good. I thought it was discontinued, but a Google search says it exists even though I haven’t seen it in store in years…

Anyway, that was the best vanilla ice cream ever in my book. Häagen-Dazs vanilla is second and I think I’ve tried Ben and Jerry’s vanilla once or twice and wasn’t too impressed. Cookie dough is my absolute favorite Ben and Jerry’s flavor.

Thanks to you and others in this thread, when my wife had a craving for some vanilla ice cream the other day, I did NOT automatically buy Breyer’s as I would have once upon a time. We grabbed some Turkey Hill, and it was very good, thanks!

Madagascar vanilla is the best vanilla.
