That Nelly is quite the party dawg! No wonder you find her passed out in the laundry basket so much.
Moooooom I’d like to consult and free lance full-time but I don’t think I can generate that much bidness. The insurance gig will help a lot there. It should be a flexible enough work situation to allow me to consult several times a year at least, which I enjoy. Like I said, I’m keepin’ some options open. For now as long as I have some benefits (this self-insurin’ is for the birds!) and know there’s a source of steady income to keep the bills paid, I’m a happy bear.
Forgot to mention the other day… I joined a local forum for Scion owners. In order to be consistent, I decided to keep the same user name. Unfortunately, part of my name got clipped. As a result I am known to the Scion world as Always Brings. Profound, isn’t it?
I am on a roll tonight! I tossed a bunch of stuff in the bathroom cabinet. I was thinking, hey maybe I could still use this…wait, what’s that expiration date? 2003? Never mind. I also tossed all of my nose jewelry, since it’s highly unlikely that I’ll pierce my nose again. That felt good. Isn’t it nice when you can just throw your youthful mistakes away? As I was putting the jewelry box back, I realized that 1) it’s ugly, 2) it’s from my mom, and 3) it plays The Wind Beneath My Wings. (Judging by eBay, it wasn’t cheap, either. Why did my mother buy me expensive gifts when we were estranged, but cheap crap the rest of the time? Don’t answer that.) So I’m donating that, too.
It’s more difficult to decide what to do with the pearls. If it were just a string of pearls, there wouldn’t be a problem, but it has a tacky diamond pendant. I think I’ll take them in to get appraised and see if it would be worth it to have them restrung without the pendant.
Yup, that’s what your posts do for me. I can definitely say I’m baffled.
I watched “A Prairie Home Companion” this evening. Netflix is definitely helping me get caught up on my missed movie viewing, since Papa Tigs really doesn’t enjoy going to the movies and I’m not anxious to subject myself to all the annoyances in theaters these days. Between that and the strike, I suspect I’m going to get caught up on about ten years’ worth of missed movies.
Please don’t strain my brain by posting obscure things. Daughter comes home tonight–The Husband went to get her at the airport. Only an 8 minutes delay this time, thank god.
I have given up on knitting for now. The needles are close in color to my yarn and I have had to rip the stuff out 4 times now. I get to about row 4 and the stitches get all gummed up. I’ve worked on the tension, but I think I just can’t see the yarn well enough–plus, I’m going to get bigger needles to work with. Maybe that’ll help.
I didn’t go rent more House DVDs tonight because I thought I had 2 more episodes to watch. I was wrong, but already in my jammies when this was discovered. I will rent them tomorrow instead. I also didn’t do my work today as I planned, but MUST do it tomorrow, and then it’s back to work for yours truly. I ordered a rug for the kitchen with my Christmas money. Yay.
I need to roll out of bed tomorrow and do my grad school stuff straight away. Then I’ll have the rest of the day to run errands and play. It’s a plan. <shakes own hand>
Cat is looking at me like I am The Evil, all because I brushed him tonight. He’s so fat he can’t reach his hoo-ha (he’s an it), but he was very indignant that I would do such a thing. Stoopit cat.
I’m amusing myself by singing whatever comes into my head for the sole purpose of driving Biddy (CM’s cat) crazy. She’s rubbing up against me like I’m made of catnip. What a weird cat.
I spent the day doing absolutely nothing productive. Oh, I did a little laundry and took a shower, but that’s about it.
I didn’t go to the grocery store, so we ordered pizza for dinner. My daughter’s friend came and hung out for awhile, and then she and he went to his place to watch movies. He’s just a friend, not a boyfriend. They’ve known each other since elementary schools and are just good friends.
Well, it’s back to the salt mines tomorrow. I still don’t want to go, but I owe, I owe, so it’s off to work I go. At least it’s a very short work week for me. I only have to work tomorrow and the next day, then I’m off Friday for my RDO. It’s a good thing too, because I plan to use that day to either bake or pick up a good New York style cheesecake and pick up a couple of presents for my daughter. I already have one. I have something in mind for one of the two I need to pick up, and the third, well, we’ll just have to see what strikes my fancy.
Sounds like quite a few of you had laid-back to boring (:() New Year’s Days. On the bright side, at least it was a day off (for most of you, anyway.) I was working as usual.
Then again, we get up to 2.5 days paid vacation for Rosh HaShana (Jewish New Year), so I’m not really complaining
That is all… may everybody’s work year start well!
Hi everyone and Happy New Year!!! We had a lovely time New Year’s Eve. One of the reasons I come here for NYE is that Faraway Best Friends and their closest friends always have their slumber party. Usually there are a few additional people there for dinner and then there’s the core group of us who stay over and then have breakfast together.
I had the advantage this year of having practically just gotten here, so 3 a.m. came around very quickly and I was still relatively fresh. We did a lot of chatting, had a late dinner from about 8-10 p.m., went outside to watch the fireworks around midnight (they started to go off while we were still on our way to the place we usually watch from), toasted the new year and generally congratulated each other, went home for dessert and the Christmas concert (almost everyone is a musician, so a whole - if somewhat unconventional - orchestra develops and plays a few Christmas Carols), which this year was followed by learning a round that is sung to a Bach fugue. I don’t really sing, but followed along for the fun of it. Yeah - they’re a bunch of music geeks (several of them could be professionals but decided to have more lucrative careers and stick to music as a serious hobby). Between that, reading funny holiday-themed stories, the night went by really quickly. We all toddled off around 4 to our assigned sleeping areas - I got one of the kids’ rooms. The kids were the ones who had the actual slumber party - all four of them shared a room; two in beds, two on the floor.
Wow - that was longer than intended!
Hi Shoshana! That dinner sounded yummy. We had various sausages and Sauerkraut for dinner. (Sauerkraut is supposed to bring good luck.)
Sorry about the SIL news, LiLi. How sad to bring another innocent child into that mess.
::Makes note to assign Puggy a random Monday… ::
Well, it sounds like people are waking up, so I suppose I should sign off…
Something involving Pumpkin Pie…
(More seriously – does he like music? A CD of stuff he likes? Maybe mixed-and-matched from singles purchased off iTunes or something? That could be an inexpensive I-did-some-work-of-my-own-to-put-this-together-because-I-love-you type present)
