I’m kind of iffy on the hat, too. I think the color of the flower doesn’t quite work with the hat.
Sorry about your old teacher, MT. Last I looked my favorite math teacher was the only one of my old teachers still working at our high school. I didn’t realize he was that young when he taught us. But I think he started only a couple of years before we were in his class, so he was probably only a few years older than we were. Amazing how oblivious you can be at that age.
And I’m awake a bit too early again, hoping I’ll get sleepy and be able to fall asleep again like yesterday. Of course my allergies are acting up. Maybe if I take my allergy meds I’ll be able to sleep some more.
Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. It’s cold again but a warm up is on the way. The warm up is supposed to bring us rain. Hope it does.
Haze have you ever seen one of those crocheted things that sit on the toilet to hide toilet paper? That’s what that hat looks like to me. I think my grandmother had one that looked like that hat.
This afternoon I go learn all about my new job. I shall have a report this evening.
Ok, more caffienatin’ needs to take place then purtification.
I’m up and finishing my third cuppa. I woke up at 4:00 am but managed to go back to sleep. The dogs decided to let me sleep in until 5:40. Thanks, guys!
I’ll hang out here for a while until hubby gets up, then shower and head over to work for a while. He is going to go apply for a job today! It’s about 15 minutes away, as opposed to his current job being 50 minutes away - with no traffic. Working nights, he doesn’t have to deal with traffic anymore, but before sometimes it would take him over two hours to get home! It sounds good, anyway. Cross your appendages!
taxi, I love tuna noodle casserole. Wish Mr. Anachi didn’t hate it.
haze, I like the hat. I think it would be fine with the right outfit. I think the style definitely would suit you but perhaps one that’s toned down a bit. It would be terrific for cooooold and windy Chicago. Back in the day we allus wore hats to church on Sunday till Jackie O started sporting mantillas and then everybody had to have those.
I was awake at 3 a.m. because I heard a pop in the house which was probably some settling. Then I heard some scratching that was probably the chihuahua. But because I was reading that damn “ghost” thread yesterday, it took me forever to get back to sleep.
But, yay! It’s Firday! This three-day week was just killer!
Oh, yeah, and they had record snow flurries in Daytona yesterday. Well, it was record because it never happened before.
Urk. Getting up before nine shouldn’t feel like Dragging Myself Cruelly Out of Slumber, but it does. I’m going to the fabric store to get stuff to make a mattress cover for the crib, and a fleece sleepsack. They don’t look difficult- ten minutes work or a lot of money for a retail one.
I have to be back before noon because the oven repair guy is supposed to come between noon and two again. If he remembers. And another friend is coming at around four.
Morning, all. I dragged myself out this morning because I have a doctor’s appointment; I need lots of caffeination and cleanup time, considering how stiff I am this morning. I know, I know, the only way to get over stiff and sore muscles is to do more of what made them sore, but I won’t have time till this afternoon at least. Plus my ambition level will have to increase somewhat. Oh well, I’m sure I’ll work up the motivation at some point. It’s better than this deadly dull deposition I’m working on. I realize that people have convenient memory lapses a lot when confronted with an opposing attorney and an oath to tell the truth, but this woman is just ridiculous. Makes me want to go over there and slap her upside the head. Instead, I’ll immortalize her stupidity in all its verbatim glory.
Anyway, it’s a clear, cold morning; the Idiots had a lovely romp in the yard (no stray dogs to bark at today, thank heaven), and are now firmly ensconced in their pre-breakfast naps. They will eat as soon as I finish this, and will then commence on their post-breakfast naps. Such a rough life!
Good luck getting your oven fixed, LiLi! That guy does sound a bit annoying. “What are you doing on the 11th” indeed – does he not notice your thoroughly expanded girth? :dubious:
Off to have another cuppa joe and then hit the shower.
Ok, so I had an 8 AM meeting in the town next door, with the lady that does my job at the neighboring school district - BusLady I guess we could call her. Needed to talk with her about some map problems she’s having, offering my expertise and all She’s new to the job, having been the last guy’s assistant for 12 years, so not a novice, but still learning.
Nice lady, about my age. Looks and dresses like she’s about 15 years younger. Wool skirt, with a slit in it, legs all the way up there, and a tight sweater. And a toucher, you know, has to make every point by grabbing your elbow, or resting a hand on your arm?
I have a very optimistic view on inter-district relations between our two communities.
Goooooood MORNinnnng everyone! I’m up and caffienating and soon will take a shower so I can dash to the mall and then the bakery.
I will post an MMP the 14th. Mark this on your calendars and please remind me, because I sometimes have “senior moments”.
I’m feeling just a leeeeettle old today because it’s my daughter’s 18th birthday. At this time 18 years ago I was being told by the OB that I was not passing go, nor was I collecting $200.00, instead, I was going DIRECTLY to the hospital. I was in labor, but didn’t really think I was. No, not because I wasn’t in pain, I was, but because it was EARLY. My daughter wasn’t due for another six, almost seven weeks.
Today would be a good day to have a baby **Li-Li. ** Just sayin’.
I was somewhat productive at work yesterday and finished some stuff that while not overdue by any stretch, I could have had done by last week. At any rate, it’s done, still early, and it’s out of my hair for the moment.
Time for another cup of joe, then I must hie to the shower, mall, and bakery.
OK, the storm was just a little late. It was challenging to stay upright while walking to the office this morning and the streets were littered with disemboweled umbrellas. A co-worker lost power - not unusual when it rains until it’s revealed that the reason they lost power is because their service drop from pole to house was blown off.
DH has another interview today. At least the odds are better - apparently there are only two candidates for the position, and it’s a very long-term gig - two years. Honestly, I don’t know how they can call that a “temp” position. If he gets it, I don’t think I’d really care. Guessing the key distinctions would be no insurance and no vacation time.
eeeeeeeeeee!
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
What’s that noise? Either I’ve got a wicked case of tinnitus or something around here is squealing. It’s sort of like the feedback that happens when someone’s hearing aid’s not working right - faint and really high-pitched.
Well, for starters tuna, peas, mushrooms & cauliflower. Why don’t you just throw in okra, aparagus and wasabi while you’re ruining perfectly good cheese?
You have all the luck when it comes to dealing with women, BusGuy. None of the ones I deal with are ever interested in flirting with me.
