A year in MMPs – some statistics and stuff

[whine]But that means I have to wait until after 2 PM!! [/whine] “Night Shift” indeed…

Wait, the plural of “us” is “I”? For some reason I thought it was the other way around? :stuck_out_tongue:

**GT **-- welcome home!

**Haze **-- I’m sure if you look for your new friend next week, you’ll find him. Especially since he’ll probably be looking for you, as well
Downside is you might end up getting aome serious religion from all of this… And then you won’t be able to do anything with him!

For example – contemplating this question for several hours…

Happy Monday, y’all!
ETA: And feel better, everybody who’s feeling down.

I don’t. That’s why I was trying to figure it out. He was just really well-dressed for a guy, which in Chicago usually means you’re gay.

No1, I wouldn’t worry too much about the religion part. Catholics have plenty of wild sex; they just feel guilty about it in the morning. I’ve always wanted to totally freak a guy out by saying fervently, “Forgive us, Father, for what we are about to do,” the moment right before we make the beast with two backs. It’d be pretty funny, you gotta admit.

The movie, There Will Be Blood, was interesting. (It’s a Western flick, I think, if one were to give it a genre.) Danny Day-Lewis is a brilliant actor. I did feel that it was a tad long, but it was very involving, and the end was rather satisfying in a way that makes you feel disturbed that you are satisfied. The soundtrack was too gimmicky for my tastes (like it was so obviously look we are being clever and subtle by picking this music for this scene) and I wouldn’t watch it again, but I do think it’s worth seeing on the big screen, if you don’t mind drama flicks about insane motherf—ers.

I think I like the idea…

Wait, no, is it too late to change my mind…? Because I’ve decided I need to ***experience ***this situation in order to appreciate it properly…

Alright, the night shift is getting shifty… all this chatter on an expired MMP. I know rosie said the new one was imminent, but the FDA will be a bitch about messing around with this stuff beyond expiration date,

You’re right. That wouldn’t make you bored or busy. It would just make you insane. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yum! I’m liking this guy already.

Doesn’t that negate the whole guilt thing? :dubious:

Uh oh, it’s the Feds!

No more talking about expired sausage and aging meat. Sorry, Lunch.

I keed. I keed.

Morning all. Not much to contribute this fine (and cold) morning. We had a big sandstorm last night (yes, I spoke/typed right - sand, not snow) and now the northerlies are blowing a treat, so it’s cold and windy outside. I swear it must be colder than 10C (50F) outside, i.e. colder than some places in the continental US of A!

To update you all, I had a chat with my boss yesterday about salary etc., which chat left me with the distinct impression that he could care less if I left! So much for being indispensable! He told me that my performance/profitability (break-even to small profit) didn’t justify paying me the going market rate for people with my experience. Despite the fact that they have increased my hourly charge-out rate by about 40% since my salary was first set (i.e. I am worth more to clients), I am still not worth any more personally as an employee! :dubious: The thing that pisses me off the most though is that they have just recruited a new guy who has about the same legal experience (2-3 years post-qualification) as me, but no regional/Middle Eastern experience, and they are paying him $25K/year more than they are prepared to offer me after my expected salary increase!

So I am waiting for my revised offer to come through from the other firm (I asked for some amendments and clarifications), whereupon I will discuss it further with my husband and likely hand in my notice at the beginning of next week. The butterflies in my tummy at this point must be hyoooooge, 'cause I feel kinda sick right now!

Okay, off to pretend to do some work! ::waves to the rest of the night-shift::

::Crossing fingers::

Good luck, Dotty! Sounds like you really should be switching jobs – and good riddance to your current (hopefully soon-to-be-former?) employer!!

What is it that’s so magical about 4 a.m.?

Gah. Actually, not much today. I’ve been awake mostly since about midnight when one of my employees called to say that she wouldn’t be able to work today. Yes, I know that she works until 11:30 p.m. at her ‘real’ job. I just *assumed * that she would wait until a decent hour to call me. :dubious:

Dotty, sounds like you can’t leave your current job too soon.

Master Ribald, are you being naughty again? And without me? :frowning:

So the task for this morning is to hope hope hope that another employee’s husband will be able to drive for me today. Otherwise… Well, let’s just not go there.

Privacy?

Well, since you’re here…

Actually, hope you got back to sleep. And that it turns into a good day for you.

Me, I have problems here at work… Oh, nothing really bad, but it’s looking like we’re going to have to postpone, yet again, a long-awaited upgrade we promised a customer because of a last-minute possible race condition we discovered…
No, I’m not about to explain what a “race condition” is, except to say that it has nothing to do with anyone’s skin color!

Race condition (from Wikipedia) and and from Whatis.com - Search Storage. Because I had to know.

I slept for about 6 hours and then decided it was probably better to get up and pretend to be awake so that I’m getting back into my schedule. Which it feels like I’ve never left.

I’m making a list of what I need to do today and what I need to do in the next several days (all non-work-related).

It includes vacation pics and stories…

GT

Thanks for making me smile. In the last two hours my day has gone downhill already.

Hope you win the race!

: sniffs MMP : This thing is a little off. Has rosie come back from the store with the new one? See ya on page 2.

yup.
