Swampy–I feel like that about most of my clothes, daily. But I also hate clothes shopping. I used to love it, back when it was easy to find my size (before the clothing industry decided on vanity sizes etc). It is sooo disheartening to try on a pair of size 10 jeans only to find they don’t fit, nor do the 12s (in certain brands) but then in others I can be a size 8. I can’t take the mood swings, I tell ya! So I don’t shop. That and no $ of course…
I am back from the bike ride–it was nice. I also took down the yard card and tidied outside a very small bit. Felt good. Now I am avoiding other chores as best I can–and I’m pretty good at it!
You know it’s bad when the MMP is generating clinic ads.
Back from Mass and lunch with friend New English Gentleman, who was squeeing over the latest girl he’s met. I sat next to a really cute guy in Mass - I had to consciously stop myself from sneaking sideways looks at him - but during the exchange of the sign of peace he shook my hand and then WINKED AT ME. I half expected a Voice From Above to thunder down upon us.
Ooh–I want details on the Church Guy. Is he tall? Dark? Handsome? Blue eyes or brown? clean shaven or facial hair? White, black, or in between? Blonde? Rastafarian? What?!
Ya know–I had my presents sent via Amazon and Smith and Hawken to various family members this year. I called them on Christmas day to tell them thank you for their gifts and that mine to them, while late, were on their way.
I got confirmations that said gifts had been delivered to L.A., Austin, TX and Memphis, TN within 5 days of Christmas. I still have not heard from any family member to say thank you. I didn’t hear from them last year, either. WTH?
I sent my parents (who love puzzles) a puzzle that is a map of their house on Cape Cod (the house’s location is starred). I asked them about it in March and they were vague about it. I asked them again about it in August when I was on the Cape with them and they denied ever getting such a thing. Then my mother said–“I remember opening something from you, but I don’t remember what it was.”
Do I really need to get these people stuff next year?
I just got an email from Smith and Hawken requesting acknowledgment of receipt of gift for my sister. So I forwarded this request to her, as a hint.
Tall and lean (head and shoulders above me), with closely-cut dark hair and a neatly trimmed beard (but not a full beard; just around the edges, if that makes sense). I swear I spent half of Mass trying to figure out if he’s gay. Oh, and he also has the loveliest singing voice.
I doubt I’ll see him again, though. It’s a huge church and the 11:15am Mass is packed.
Supper was yum. I loves me some shrimp scampi, and the green beans-n-onions were pretty good, too. Kitteh was not happy that she didn’t get any shrimps. Too bad so sad.
And so another weekend fizzles away. <sigh> And still no chocolate in the house.
Current location: Chicago O’Hare. Talked to Mom and brother already and still have another hour before they start boarding my plane (which will allegedly be on time). I’m whipped. I’ve been through security at least 4 times, even though I’ve only been in 3 airports (I think we went through twice at Heathrow). So far, I’m pretty sure I haven’t lost anything.
I waved at LiLi and Mork as we flew (very roughly) over Toronto. There were probably other people I waved at too, but I forget who. Except for rigs and MBG, of course. I waved at them as we landed and will wave again on the way out. If I hadn’t been at the return end of my flight, I would have suggested a meet-up.
It took something like 2 hours to arrive and make it through security here. They did not win organization points for security here at Terminal 1. The lines were incredibly long and poorly managed. Also, you couldn’t easily tell how many lines there were and which line was shortest. Somewhere in the middle of my wait, a lady came by and waved at people and said to follow her to a shorter line. It seemed like she was waving to random people, hoping they’d listen. Very odd.
Had a pretty nice flight though. Very pleasant seatmate who mostly slept but chatted with me somewhere between our respective naps. She’s a freshman at a nearby college and had been to India with her family. She told me about what she’s studying (she’s wavering between nursing and pre-med), about deciding whether to keep on living at the dorms or move in with her aunt who lives near the college, etc. Seems like she’s having a nice, balanced college experience (she plays on their basketball team, too).
I didn’t take lots and lots of pictures because, well, we didn’t do a whole lot that was different from what anyone does when they visit family. But I’ll put together something to share.
I’m tired and going bla-bla-bla bla-bla-bla, so I’ll sign off now.
So, where is everyone? My flight is going to be delayed because the crew is coming in from Denver and isn’t quite here yet. But we’ll be boarding more or less on time.  Why don’t we have a tired smiley???
Hi, GT!
I want to hear all about your trip…I swear I thought you were going to Cleveland or something…
Am still bored; am watching This Old House–The Husband wanted to. I can attest that there is nothing on TV on a Sunday late afternoon, although I did finally find Seinfeld.
After 2 days of slothful existance I am still not feeling that much better. Unfortunately I have a training thing at 8AM in the morning and I have a really bad day coming on Tuesday that the training is related to…
I got my massage and foot and hand rub from Driving Husband’s sister, who is a massage therapist? Masseuse? Something? Anyway, I’m all melty and sleepy. We fed her dinner. And she did get paid for it (Christmas present from DH and QD).
rigs, one of the things that really bothers me about my SiL (from the frickin’ huge list) is that she never says thank you for presents. Not even in person, when opening Christmas presents. Drives me nuts. I sympathize.
the new MMP is composed. I ask that the night shift be patient and wait for it to appear sometime between 7am and 8am GMT-5 (as I’d sort of said earlier). If I have insommnia tonight, I’ll post it earlier.
Top ten signs that GT is tired: 10) Babbles incoherently,…1) Forgets obvious Chicagoland Dopers. Arghhh.
So, is the movie intended to feed your vampiric tendencies?
I’m home now. We left O’Hare at the time we were supposed to be landing in Columbus. I slept about halfway here (I think I remember taking off, but I may be remembering an earlier take-off). When I woke up, I spent about 5 minutes wondering if we were still waiting to take off or if we were actually flying. Where’s the turbulence when you need it?
Anyway, my car was at Thrifty, my house is still here, I’m tired.
I’m not going to work tomorrow, so I’ll see people in the next MMP…
