A year in MMPs – some statistics and stuff

Happy 2008, everybody! I just sat up in bed and watched a silly movie and knitted, till it was nearly midnight when I switched over to watch the ball drop (and DC is doing better than the last time I saw him, so good for him for going all public after his stroke); but Papa Tigs was nice enough to let me sleep in this morning since I slept really, really badly most of the night. I have no idea why; I was just very achy and tossed and turned. There were some fireworks in the neighborhood after midnight, but nothing excessive enough to terrify Rusty, fortunately.

Plus what are all you weird people doing getting up early on New Year’s Day? Isn’t that supposed to be a day to sleep in, after last night’s excesses (such as they are)? :dubious: I know, I know, we’re such a wild bunch here.

Anyway, you guys make a keyuute couple, Dotty! You found yourself a handsome 'un!

I hope you feel better soon, mmmms; what a lousy way to start off the new year. :frowning:

I’m sorry Ernie has kennel cough, Rebo. Which reminds me: Our boys are due for their next bordella (kennel cough) shot. It sounds miserable for the poor puppy! But your bracelet is gorgeous!

I’m sorry Joe Dawg has such a miserable beginning to his new year, too, Swampy. I can’t believe Joe Dawg’s daddy can watch you treat his baby that way!

I think we should count your OP, kai – I mean, you had pictures and everything! Someday I swear I am going to come see where you live; it’s high on my list of places I want to see. (New Zealand is still #1, though, sorry!)

I suspect I’m going to have a lazier day than planned, if the way I’m feeling right now is any indication, i.e. seriously unmotivated. Who knows, maybe I’ll get ambitious later and tackle the dining/sewing room, but right now just taking a lazy day to do absolutely nothing sounds delightful. Those are few and far between in my little corner of the world. It helps that this is an absolutely dead time of year work-wise, till about the middle of January, so I don’t feel any pressure to do anything constructive except continuing to de-clutter the house. Anyway, we shall see. Right now another cup of coffee is calling.

I hope we all have a wonderful 2008! MWAH!

Chicken done. Cornbread and rice cookin’ to commence shortly. Bloody Mary’s still good! Bear slightly tipsy but can still cook.

Happy 2008!!!

Ok, that’s done. Up, have been infused with caffeine, pancakes, bacon and must now be off to buy a new snowblower, and then brave the wilds of the driveway.

Tonight’s dinner shall be a finely roasted quacker, N.O.T’s, sauerkraut and dumplings.

Ta ta.

Bills are paid - good times.

I’ve got A Chorus Line in the DVD player. Before the day is over, I may have to watch *Chicago * again, too. Not a bad way to start the year, but I can’t believe my vacation is almost over. Yet again, I blame my parents for not making me independently wealthy.

Still no chocolate in the house. That’s a bad sign for 2008, ya think??

Caffienated, breakfasted and purtified - well showered anyway.

I have decided Teh Sick will not get me down. Doped myself up on DayQuil, got myself cleaned up and dressed. I am going to unpack and then take the Christmas decorations down after that I may nap

Plans for 2008 (Not resolutions)
[ol]
[li]Redecorate my house. I have some luxury new bedding that I got for Christmas so I am going to start with my bedroom.[/li][li]Cook more. I love cooking but cooking for one always seems a waste of time but I have dug out my recipie books and will start going through them for some new ideas[/li][li]Leave work at a reasonable hour. I am a bit of a workaholic mainly because I really don’t know anyone else in town other than work people but being ‘Da Big Boss’ it can get uncomfortable socialising with the new engineers - Ops Managers are generally older married men not youthful women living on thier own. So I plan on leaving by 6PM every evening instead of 7 or 8. This will give me more time to accomplish both of the above[/li][/ol]

Good morning everyone!

I was up at about 7:30, but stayed under the covers until about 8:30 or so.

The coffee has finished brewing and I’m sitting her sipping a cup. Mr. Taters has just awoken, so my bit of peace and quiet is gone.

I really do need to get some groceries today, so I just may do that. I think that’s the extent of my plans, other than doing a load of laundry.

Up. It’s only just afternoon. That’s doing well. The Usual Suspects got kicked out just after three, with QD saying " wait, wait. I’ll just finish this. Whose drink is this? What’s in it?". And then, a few minutes later, after putting her coat on, “Ooh. That wasa bad idea. Why didn’t you stop me? I didn’t have to drink that”.

I haven’t been up until almost four in ages. I have some pics I’ll upload later. Driving Husband didn’t get plastered but QD was pretty far gone. She’s out of practice. It was a good party, lots of chatting and drinking and silly tv and boys playing video games.
Rebo, that’s gorgeous. I love it.

Dotty, you and your husband look lovely.
Time for caffeine, and then crawling around slowly clearing up.

Double post because it seems more dignified than editing: we got some “Oh, God.” news last night.

My sister-in-law is pregnant.

The one I can’t stand, whose child-rearing drives me up the wall, and who is extremely nasty to my brother-in-law.

They’ve known since we saw them for Christmas (end of November). During the time since, they’ve almost divorced twice. But having more children makes everything better, right?
Their son will be two in May. I figure she’s about three or so months along. Oh, God.

Li-Li, my commiserations. I hope for the sake of the kid that things get better for them.

I actually didn’t get too drunk last night. Mr. Cheerio, his girlfriend, and I went over to a friend’s house and had a nice dinner and spent the evening playing games. We were planning to join That Guy and Minister’s Lad at another party but by the time we were ready to go meet them the party had already dispersed. So I invited Mr. Cheerio and his girlfriend over to my place for a smoke and to finish the leftover lasagna. We sang some songs while I played the guitar and then went to bed.

It was actually a pretty quiet New Year’s Eve, but we did have a lot of fun. I hope it bodes well for the rest of the year.

I whined a little bit to Mr. Cheerio about my whole situation with That Guy, and he was startled because he thought it had all ended after graduation. And then I was startled because if That Guy hasn’t talked to Mr. Cheerio about it, he hasn’t talked to anybody. Mr Cheerio told me that he’d actually asked That Guy a couple months ago how things were with me, and That Guy snapped at him that he was an adult and could control himself. I rolled my eyes so hard they almost fell back into my skull.

Ah, well. Here’s hoping 2008 is a better year than the last.

Happy New Year! I went the game, we lost 4-1. The after party was fun, i was recognized by some people from the Canes board. apparently I’m [im]famous. I’m watching the outdoor hockey game. I’ll reply to three pages of MMP after the game.

I am unpacked and the suitcases are put away as are the clothes and various Christmas pressies.

Load of laundry is on. I think I have been very productive so far. Going to the garage to get the boxes for the Christmas things!

DinDin et. Good! Friend brought homemade lemon ice box pie as surprise. Bear like lemon icebox pie. Bear happy! Kitchen mess!

I was surprised that I didn’t have quite as many items of clothing to get rid of as I thought. But there were some things that were only worn once, if at all. I’m hoping the local women’s shelter can take them. Otherwise, well, we shall see. I also sorted out my dresser drawers - one drawer for t-shirts that can be seen in public, one drawer for grubby shirts, one for long sleeve shirts, one for sweatpants, one for shorts, and the rest of the drawers were OK as they were.

**FCD ** wants me to repair the pocket linings on one of his jackets, but it’s not a simple job, so I’m not going to mess with it today. I need to hem those jeans - I think I can do that today.

Still no chocolate. We are not pleased.

Still feeling crappy. I only got out of bed because I thought that we were going to TVParents house at 4 for dinner. We’re not.

I should go back to PieLand before the snow gets really bad. I’m not quite sure what is stopping me.

I got banished from my kitchen. Oh and verbs and complete sentences have returned. I got told that clean up would be handled and not to worry about it. Fine cause all that really needs doin’ is load up the dishwasher. No puttin’ away of stuff need be done. WHEW! That’s what I don’t want somebody else doin’ cause I know what goes where and why. Anywho, I’m fine with somebody loadin’ the dishwasher and/or wipin’ stuff off. Just don’t put stuff in my drawers and cabinets.

I mentioned a lemon icebox pie. A friend brought one as a surprise. Thus everybody ate pie and puddin’. There are a lot of full tummies right now. She made the crust for the pie out of cinnamon graham crackers, pecans and butter. NUM!!! I could’ve just eaten the crust it was so good.

CuteyPie go home before the snow gets too bad. How’s that for motivation?

Hope everybody else is having/had a good New Year’s Day!

I’m about to start prepping my part of dinner because we have the world’s smallest kitchen and two people cannot cook simultaneously without a domestic incident. We decided to go with mustard and collard greens braised with hickory-smoked bacon, black-eyed peas, and pork loin medallions in thyme and mustard. I have a sneaking suspicion that I may be making cornbread before this is all over.

Baby, it’s cold outside! And snowing and gorgeous. I was at the coffee shop for 5 hours with my girlfriend! We talked and caught up on stuff, but now my voice is hoarse. All for a good cause. It was great to see her and catch up.

Now I have vacuuming to do (basement), and some work to do. How is this possible? I don’t work–everyone knows that!

BooFae–I am sorry to hear that this is an international phenomenon. All men who cannot figure out how to shop will be taken out behind the stores and shot. As it is written, so it shall it be done.

#1 son is still not back from his carouse at friend’s grandpa’s house in Indiana. I suspect child slavery rings.

Not much to say, am kind of talked out…

I just got the nanner pudding out of the oven and it’s cooling. Thanks for the inspiration, Swampus! Glad your dinner went over well.

I’m gonna go take a nap for about an hour. Just 'cause.

Still haven’t got the tree down. I lay down on the couch to watch a bit of TV after my unpacking exertions and apparently took a nap for an hour!

Naps are good

Going to take more Dayquil have some lunch then take down the tree. This time I mean it.

Oh I have chocolate FCM I brought loads back from the UK. Wanna share some?

I live to inspire.
