Abortion Cams? WTF?!?!

I read this article on ABC.com:

http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/abortioncams010815.html

Im sorry folks. This shit is out of hand. This piece of poop who is trying to justify this shit sounds like a fucking idiot. Whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, it shouldnt matter. If you wanna see people walk in and out of an abortion clinic all day, just go stand outside it with the other lunatics.

Hell, why dont the Ultra-Christians start video taping the people who go in and out of XXX movie theaters? Or XXX bookstores? Or better yet, start video taping all of the sodomizers through thier bedroom windows? At least that would be entertaining!!

If I was to ever get an abortion or take someone to get one and some fuckwad took a picture of me or my friend going in or out of the clinic fuckwad’s camera would be smashed to pieces!!!

What a crock of shit!

Tsk, tsk. Have you no imagination? The thing to do is to start videotaping the Ultra-Christians who go in and out of XXX movie theaters. Like the D&D manual says about vampires turning clerics: “turnabout is fair play.”

Anyway, back in Ithaca, NY some local activists got it into their heads to shut down a strip club located out in West Nellybelly. They decided that the way to do it was to photograph the people going in and out. Photographing prostitutes and johns is becoming a fairly widespread practice, too.

That’s really fucked up in my view…I mean shit on a brick.

What about the women going there for other reproductive health care reasons? Where does that put them?

What if many of these women are going for a pelvic exam to determine if they have cervical cancer but it happens to be in the doctor’s office of a doc that preforms abortions? What if someone in her life (say her husband) sees the site and sees that she is there? How will that play on her relationships in her family? He could see it and accuse her of getting rid of a child she never had thereby breaking up their marriage.

While I think freedom of speech is great, I also think that one deserves to have absolute and complete knowledge that she is being video taped and her image (or his image as a man helping out his girlfriend or wife either while he’s married or not) is being used WITH her consent.

Why not just fucking post the license plates, the names and addresses of these people? Why not just go all the way?

I am shaking my head because with the advent of the internet, digi cams and other technologies we are loosing our freedoms more and more every day. While I am all for technology I still find sacred the private lives of my friends, family and those in my community. This is a terrible errosion of personal freedom.

Joe-I’m-Against-Abortion has no right to video tape me or my friends entering a reproductive facility whether I am there or not to have an abortion…without my explicit consent. I find this more than disturbing, but what’s next? They will find a way to enter the facility with their cams and video tape a woman while she is in the exam room or while she’s having an abortion?

I am seething with anger, it could damage a woman who is going for a regular exam, of which she may not be able to afford if it were not for places like Planned Parenthood. Many people don’t have health insurance and places like Planned Parenthood offer more than just abortions, they offer low cost and sometimes even no-cost exams for a woman’s reproductive health.

Fuck assholes like that…they have a “right?” So do I as a woman to conduct my health care concerns in a private and safe environment. This only brings fear and hatred for me to enter a Planned Parenthood facility so I can get a measily little pap spear so I can find out if I am okay…I can’t afford the big doctors, Planned Parenthood offers me good health care at a reasonable price. I also support abortion services, not because I think it’s a “good thing” but because some women feel no other way is possible. At that point it’s between her and her God. But to show these women on the internet is a terrible invasion of privacy, horrific.

Well, guess that I will spend the rest of my little life not getting health care that I need as I am not one of the litigious types to take people to court. It’s hard enough to get the guts to get in those stirrups and spread my legs for a doc to put a cold instrument in my vagina but to think or even contemplate that my being there will implicate me in having an abortion and me being seen on the internet is even worse.

Curse those assholes, they are doing a larger disservice…FUCK YOU you shit eating bastards. Your tactic has worked but possibly for the worse for some of us women who don’t have health insurance.

FUCK, this makes me want to show my damn face escourting women in the buffer zone to help them get into a clinic (for whatever reason they enter) safely and with as much annonymity (sorry my spelling sucks) as possible.

I have one thing to say.

“‘What they’re doing is evil ? These people ? are ripping babies limb from limb,’ he says. ‘Anybody who goes within 5 miles of an abortion clinic has to understand that they’re entering into a story of momentous social concern.’”

Um . . . no. And to go into why would require more patience than I have with this fuckwit.

Wait, scratch that. Take the fuck out of there and this fuckdrop is a wit.

Fucktwit.
Okay, fine. Two things:

“Horsley also posts “The Nuremberg Files” on his Web site ? a frequently updated list of the names and home-states of abortion providers, abortion-rights activists, politicians who support abortion rights, women who have received abortions and various judges and police officers. The title is a reference to the post World War II trials of alleged Nazi war criminals.”

Yah . . . that’s sure to win converts.

Anyone who takes this fucksicle as an average pro-lifer needs to think again.

I wonder if they would post the pics of me bitch-slapping Horsley after he tried to snap a photo of my GF?

Actually, unfortunately, they do. If you are outdoors, in a public area, you have no right to privacy. the assumption is that if you are in a public place, then you are explicitly waiving those rights. See those obnoxious ‘Girls Gone Wild’ tapes as an example of this.

Hell, if they didn’t I’d put the pic on my website, and I’d put the URL as my sig. That guy annoys the everliving, motherfucking shit out of every particle of my being (and some that aren’t).

What’s the point. Ok, I respect freedom to speech as much as the next man.

But if I stood outside the white house with a huge sign saying “George Bush is an idiot!” you can bet I won’t last long. Even though I’m just speaking my mind.

Gargh.

I think that last post confused me.

Anyway, I figure if someone assumes (based on a videotape or snapshot of me entering a womans health facility) that I was having an abortion, they probably aren’t anyone I give a flying fuck about anyway. These people are so twisted that there is no reasoning with them.

Around here there are 2 doctors that advertise abortion services. One recently moved her office right next door to my physical therapy office (it’s like a plaza with about 10 different doctors in it). The poor protesters got all confused because they couldn’t target anyone- the offices are located and connected in such a way that you can walk into any of the office doors and get to your doctor’s office. They are not allowed inside the premises, so they’re just fucked.

I was so happy when I saw this, I about laughed right at them. For the first week or two they tried handing out stuff in the parking lot, but they got tired of the “fuck you!” responses they got (since the vast majority of patients were there for PT or some other treatment)

From the article, in reference to the Nuremberg Files:
“The names of those who are killed appear with a black line through them. The names of those who are wounded are listed in gray.”

Taking photos in a public setting may not be illegal in and of itself, but clearly if Horsley is stalking you, one can assume you are in a modicum of physical danger. This practice should be stopped on the premise of safety if not privacy.

You must be from another country. We have people who stand outside the White House day after day after day with signs saying that the President is an idiot, that he is controlled by/wants to destroy Israel, that he is sending radio messages to our brains and all sorts of other things.

The only threat to them is the humidity (also controlled by the President!)

Looks to like a somewhat ham-fisted, but absolutely legitimate exercize of first amendment rights, to me.

I have no problem with this site. It’s journalism, albeit certainly advocacy journalism. You can call it “propaganda” if you like, too.

But the First Amendment protects even propaganda.

yep, it’s those people who stand outside family plnning clincs and shout “don’t kill your baby” at people. what exactly do they hope to achieve? making an informed decision is different from being terrified into one.
“i’m just going to get some condoms, so i won’t ever have to!” should shut them up pretty fast.

surely you can get these people under incitement to violence laws? or even petition their ISP to shut down the site?

I was photographed going into an abortion clinic. It really wasn’t that big a deal to me. The protesters can’t block access so they weren’t in my way or anything. They just stood at the entrance and held up their signs and shouted things like “Do you know that they kill children in there?” and “Why are you going in there? We are taping you!” I wasn’t that worried about it. It’s not like they put the video on the local news or anything. If anyone I know found out about the abortion because of their photography, the person would have had to have been looking for it. They didn’t terrorize me - it was more on the level of a fly that just won’t get out of your car. I flipped them off and said some rude adn witty things to them and went inside. I am much more worried about the people who target doctors. The docs are in much more danger than the patients.
Also, IIRC the Nuremberg Files site was closed down for a while because of the threat it posed to doctors but it is back up now. Yes, I go there occasionally. The really bad video graphic of demons throwing babies on the altar is good for a laugh if I’ve had a bad day.

Great. Another self-important, unenlightened twit. Here’s the question I have regarding this issue: Why is it news if someone walks into or out of an abortion clinic? It’s not news at all. It’s a low-grade hatred for someone who shares a differing viewpoint. About a year and a half ago, the girl I was dating became pregnant. We decided to have an abortion, because the relationship was crumbling, and neither one of us was in a position to care for a child. And far too many children are already in orphanages, waiting for homes. Her family (and mine) knew what was happening, but couldn’t stop it because we were both over 18. The day of the procedure, there were some protesters standing outside of the clinic, holding signs, chanting, yelling at us, everything. While she was inside having the procedure done (she requested I stay in the waiting room), I stepped outside for some air. I had totally forgot about the protesters until the started yelling at me. Not that I was really in the mood to put up with their bullshit anyway. But when this guy grabbed my arm, looked me in the eyes, and was just seething, I just about lost it. He asked me if I was aware that they were killing babies in there. That (to quote those great bumper stickers) abortion stops a beating heart, and that only half of the people who go into an abortion clinic come out alive. I answered, “Yeah. That’s the point. That’s why we’re here.” Then I called him an idiot. A crowd started gathering around me then, some telling me I was a murderer, others condemning me to hell. Just standard stuff, really. This debate went on for a while, at which point I told them that, if there IS a God, then the ex and I will be glad to answer to that entity. But, since I doubted very seriously that anyone there was Him incarnate, that they should “judge not.”

[sub]IANAL[/sub]
Not true. There are several lawsuits in court right now about girls being put on the covers of tape boxes and in the videos without their express written consent. If you are on video, photograph, or recorded verbally, to my knowledge you must give written permission if the person who owns the video, photograph, or casette tape of you is to use it for their own benefit.

This guy sounds so dangerous, it’s not even funny.

I am 100% pro-choice. I too went to Planned Parenthood as a teenager and young adult, because I had no insurance and very little money. I could get a full annual exam (pap smear, tests, HIV test, etc) and 1 years’ worth of birth control pills for under $100. At that time, my PP did not offer abortions, but many now do.

This guy is a psychopath trying to justify his hatred and misery and “journalism?” Eat me, you worthless piece of crap. And what about this “anyone within 5 miles of an abortion clinic” horseshit? Oh please.

The other day, I was driving on the 5 freeway in Mission Viejo, CA, when I passed several large big-rig-type trucks. The pictures on the side caught my eye, because I couldn’t figure out what they were. For a minute, anyway. Yes, they were full-color, huge photographs of aborted fetuses, plastered on the sides of the trucks. Totally gross and innappropriate. So I gave them the finger, for lack of a more powerful weapon.

I believe the claim there would be misappropriation of likeness for purposes of trade or advertising (that’s the phrase used by my copy of The AP Stylebook and Briefing on Media Law.

From another section (page 377):

"In light of the development of the right of privacy, it can generally be said that when people become involved in a news event . . . they forfeit the right to privacy. Similarly, a person somehow involved in a matter of legitimate public interest, even if not a bona fide spot news event, normally can be written about with safety.

However, this is different from publication of a story that dredges up the sordid details of a persons past and has no current newsworthiness."

Though I disagree with why they are doing it, I think they are protected by the first amendment in doing it. Unfortunately, there is no right to walk on a public street without others noting it.

I just don’t care. There was a group of fundies protesting outside a local adult bookstore a while back. When I saw that, I had to go in. One of them wrote down my lisence number. I went over to him and asked him why. Then I stuck out my hand, put a big grin on my face, and introduced myself. The fact that I didn’t buy into his brand of shame confused him and he just dropped the paper with my lisence number on it and walked away. Photograph me all you want, I’m not breaking the law, and as a rule I don’t do things I would be ashamed of.
IANAL, but I believe that when the guy grabbed your arm, Superdude, that constitutes assault. Perfect excuse to flatten the bastard or to have him arrested.
