Accessing Disney website in Japan

According to some ridiculous reason by Disney, they block access to their English site to people in Japan, identifying the ISP or something.

Within the scope of legal actions, how can I prevent such identification so we can access the site and enjoy it while we’re in Japan?

Going through some other site to surf, something like that?

Thanks for your help!

Are you sure it’s blocked? Or is it an automatic redirection because they assume that people in Japan will prefer to see the Japanese website?

Sometimes websites will look at the local language settings for your browser and present a language-specific version.

Try something like Anonymouse.

This one? I’m in Japan, and got there no problem. If this isn’t the site, please put up the URL and I’ll try that too.

I often can’t access YouTube videos, that nifty site where you can watch TV shows etc. And sometimes when I’m in the US, I’ll automatically be directed to a J-language version of something I’m looking for, and it’s a pain in the bum to get past that.

Hrm. I seem to be contributing only experience and ignorance here, so I’ll stop now. Good luck!

Here’s another one. I just tried to play Scrabble on Facebook, and it won’t let me because it said it’s only for people in the US and Canada. Is there any way I can be logged into FB without it knowing what country I’m in, or appear to be in the US?

I don’t want to do without Scrabble for a month!

For YouTube.com, on the very bottom of the front page, you might see (in Japanese):

Click on the language and location options to change settings. I believe they are saved only if you are a registered user.

For Disney.com/Disney.jp, on the very bottom of the front page, you’ll see:

Click on that and you’ll be taken to a page with links to Disney sites from various countries. Clicking on U.S. will take you to: Disney.com | The official home for all things Disney

I’m guessing that “intoverride=true” means that the site will override your international location and take you straight to the regular Disney.com site.

Hope it helps.
