Actors/Actresses that you SHOULD find repellant, but are oddly attracted to.

He’s getting a little old and he’s basically a funny-looking guy with a big nose when he’s in normal clothes, but when **Alice Cooper **gets done up in makeup, leathers, and riding crop…mmmm, yeah. There’s just something about him (even now) that I find incredibly sexy.

ETA: Okay, he’s not an actor. But he was on the Muppet Show once. Does that count? :stuck_out_tongue: And you could say that his whole Alice persona is acting.

I’d say she’s attractive. But she isn’t a classic beauty. She’s the looks equivalent of Brittney Spears’ singing. A moderate talent that is hyped and manufactured to present the illusion of being exceptional.

Just my opinion.

It ain’t my thread, but if I got flagged for Kim Kardashian, you shouldn’t be allowed Jenny McCarthy.

…Just sayin’.

The woman in that picture is not repellent, looks-wise.

I think if you reread the message you’re quoting, you might find that I agree with you.

Again, I don’t see it. Maybe more attractive than most porn stars, but I honestly see more attractive women on a daily basis. Definitely not a “classic beauty” - the proportions of her features just do not qualify for that. Here’s a head-on shot that shows what I mean; unless her head is tilted down and to one side, you see that she really lacks the eyes-nose-mouth ratio of a classic beauty. She poses to emphasize her cheekbones. The general vapidness of her expression does her no favors either.

Even if we agree your argument that she’s not a “classic beauty” (which I don’t, I think she’s quite attractive)… that’s still a long ways away from “repellant.”

Oh my God, why do these threads always go down this path?

If a woman is a celebrated beauty, whether or not you personally agree, she is not “repellant.” Like, nobody is putting Steve Buscemi on magazine covers and gushing over how hot he is, because by our beauty standards, he does not fall into the “beautiful people” category. And he is often laughed at for his looks in the media in which he appears, as if (hey thread title) we SHOULD find him repellant. So he is a good posterboy for this thread.

No matter how dumb you think Jenny McCarthy is, she was a Playboy centerfold and is widely regarded and treated by the media as if she were attractive to most people, so she does fall into the “beautiful people” category. So does Kim Kardashian. The people in that category are not eligible for this thread.

It’s cool that you want to drool over anybody you find hot regardless of whether they’re germane to the thread or not, but go start your own thread for those people. This should not be hard to understand.

Ileana Douglas can stay. She looks like an alien, but has that certain je ne sais quoi about her…

Yah - Jenny is quite a stretch. However, the millions of people she’s harmed with her anti-vax stance put her into the repellant category for me.

No flag, but no points awarded either.

I have no idea what that means, but I gotta say, that gal in that pic right there is drop dead hot.

Of course, that’s just my opinion.

Whatever. She’s still way better looking than most everyone out there and has no string of drug busts, stints in rehab, stints in prison or dead children on her head to qualify her for the OP.

She’s just a vapid fame whore but those are a dime a dozen and are famous specifically because they are attractive.

Take it to another thread if you must continue to discuss if she’s good looking or not.

I was simply responding to your incorrect assertion. No reason to be snippy.

Okay, I’m back with a better submission (though she’s a singer not an actress): Pam Tillis.
She’s got this oddly-shaped, asymmetrical, oversized head. But I’ve always been quite smitten with her.

I guess we disagree, because in that photo to me she looks gorgeous.

Heh - my assertion was not incorrect. She looks like Botticelli’s Venus - pretty much the definition of ‘Classic Beauty’.

Again, if you’re not into her, fine but suggesting she’s anything other than very, very good looking is absurd.

Are we seriously sittin’ up in this thread talking like beauty isn’t completely subjective? There are a lot of people that don’t find that painting beautiful.

Still, I take your overall point.

ETA: Why do we do this in these threads? We know everyone’s opinion is going to be totally different. Why can’t we just ride with that?

I was going to say Steve Buscemi, but he’s in the OP. So I’ll throw Owen “Dicknose” Wilson out there.

Sure, attractiveness is subjective. However, if you google Botticelli Venus Classic Beauty you get about a million hits.

If you want to do someone or they get your juices flowing or they float your boat is totally subjective.

However, if you’re talking about art scholars discussing a painting and describing it as a ‘classic beauty’ (which they do) and a person happens to look like the subject matter of the painting (which Kim Kardashian does) it’s not a stretch to say that she is a ‘classic beauty’ as well. It doesn’t mean she gets your wood hard, but it does mean she has features which have traditionally be considered beautiful.

GAH - can we please talk about people who AREN’T classic beauties and are in fact sort of funny looking or nasty that get your wood hard? 'Cus that’s what this thread is about.

Ooo - good one.

I’ve given this opinion before, nearly word for word, but I’ll do it again.

Every time I’ve seen Mary (“Eating Raoul”) Woronov in a movie, I’ve swung back and forth rapidly between thinking, “That is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen” and “Oh my God, what was I thinking? She’s HIDEOUS!”

In the space of 5 minutes, I may change my opinion of her 8 times! She’s incredibly striking, both positively AND negatively.

If she approached me and propositioned me, I’d accept enthusiastically… but would probably run screaming from her bedroom a minute later!
