Actors/resses that makes you NOT want to see a movie

Thanks but not really. I was making a weak pun on his name. After posting, I thought it would be funny if he married a woman surnamed “Katz” and they could bring up their kids as "Ferrell-Katz"es. If he gave one of them his first name, it would sound as if he were beginning a question like “Will Feral Katz take over the planet?”

Will Feral, Olivia Wilde and somebody named Tame(ara) would complete the trifecta.

Can’t believe I didn’t immediately post Dakota Johnson. Ugh. Her whole being comes across as vapid. Also, try a new hairstyle already.

I watched an interview with her. Vapid doesn’t even begin to describe it.

You described it better than I did. This is it exactly. He is a try-hard.

I seem to be the first to mention Matthew McConaughey. Like Michael Douglas I don’t see any acting in their roles. They just play themselves.

A friend of mine used to describe his acting style as: “Starring Kevin Costner as Kevin Costner. “

I guess I’m in the minority. It’s very hard for me to name anyone who would be an automatic no for me. Bill Cosby I guess. You would have to do something particularly heinous in your personal life to be put on any list of mine. Most if not all of those mentioned have done some things I’ve liked.

This was my impression (having only seen him in a few things) until I watched him in the first season of True Detective. He was simply mesmerizing. The guy can really act.

Woody Harrelson wasn’t bad in it either, but McConaughey was a master class in acting.

Or, it could be Will Ferrule – because he is always getting twisted.

Their other son could have gotten a job on Car Talk.

“Our Rodent Exterminator is Manny Ferrell-Katz.”

Actors/resses that makes you NOT want to see a movie

Mostly just Sandra Bullock.

Ryan Reynolds
Weird Al

But you have to admit, they play themselves very well. Much better than most people play themselves.

No big names, but there is a certain…hmmm…class of male actors that have always found off-putting in their young primes. It’s sorta like a combination of appearance and acting style and it’s oddly visceral. I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned all of these names before, but across three generations:
Jan-Michael Vincent
C. Thomas Howell
Michael Pitt

ETA: I also find Klaus Kinski kinda viscerally repellent as well, but in that case I still find him fascinating to watch. Might be the talent mismatch vis-a-vis the others.

I agree with Kevin Costner. He reminds me of a hardware store clerk in someplace like Rhinelander, WI.

Has no one mentioned OJ Simpson yet? A horrible actor in addition to being a complete asshole and multiple murderer. I wish they’d completely redo all of his scenes in the Naked Gun movies with a different actor.

Yeah, well, I saw a movie with Brian Bosworth in it. He was a football player who thought he was the bee’s knees, had a very short career, then tried to be an actor. The movie was so bad, I kept watching it to see if it could possibly get worse.

For some reason my brain decided to punish me by thinking of both Rebel Wilson and Matt Lucas.

My first exposure to the Deadly Duo was in Bridesmaids. (Tho I might have seen images from Little Britain.) Egad, just awful. Clips and such have just increased the hard “No.”

And speaking of Bridesmaids, yeah, Melissa McCarthy is really bad at almost everything. Almost. So not a complete pass on her but close. Rule of thumb: The more of her talentless husband, the worse it is.

(In checking on Little Britain, Google seems to think it’s a drama. I guess even their AI didn’t think it was funny.)

I hear Peter Lupus is available…

I loved her in Gilmore Girls, but nothing since then. Admittedly, I’ve only seen her in a few movies.
