Actors that you just can't stand to watch

I certainly agree with you about McConaughey; the only thing I’ve liked him in was Lone Star.

But Jennifer Garner became one of my favorite actresses after seeing her lovely and accomplished work in Juno.

Jesse Eisenberg. After seeing him play Mark Zuckerberg and as an arrogant “magician” in “Grand Illusion”, I can’t stand his face and speaking style.

I’m in foul mood so I’ll say who I’ve been holding back about, Donnie Yen Ji Dan.

The only movie of his I’ve been able to sit through was because of the rest of the cast (especially Joey Wong Jyo Yin!) is Comet, Butterfly and Sword, plus his character being a lovestruck wimp. Completely opposite as how I personally perceive him in his movies. Yes, he’s badass at kung fu and swordplay, but I just can’t stand him. Thinking about it, something about his face reminds me of Bobby Flay, who causes my channel flipping thumb into action at the mere glimpse of his face or sound of this voice.!

In addition to many already mentioned (especially Roberts, DiCaprio, Sandler, Spade, McDowell, Kutcher) I’ll add the simpering Mary Steenburgen (sorry, Ted) and Walter (grumpy old man in everything I’ve ever seen him in) Matthau. I don’t get the Tom Hanks worship, either. I don’t see a lot of movies, though.

I meant that figuratively, but I didn’t know it it had been turned down by DiCaprio.

Andy Samberg - I just hate looking at his face. I’ve never watched Brooklyn Nine-Nine for that reason.

Gotcha.

I think Leo made the right choice here, tbh. Titanic propelled him to the toppermost of the poppermost like no other vehicle could, and I don’t think he would’ve done as good a job as Dirk Diggler as Wahlberg did - you needed somebody unpolished for that role, and “unpolished” is not a word I would ever apply to Leo DiCaprio.

I would’ve agreed with you before the avalanche of Capital One commercials where she’s so smarmy and phony. I can’t fast forward or change the channel fast enough. I won’t be able to watch her in anything else now.

I have to second everyone who mentioned Will Farrell. I haven’t been able to stand him or Tom Green since the late 90s. For the same reason: the both take something that’s not funny and beat it into the ground, as if that will make it funny.
I can’t tell where Zach Braff ends and Dax Shepard begins, so I make it easy by not watching anything with either one.
Everything I’ve seen January Jones in she’s stiff and “acting”. She was OK as Betty Draper, who is written as entitled and emotionally a child.
Renee Zelwegger with her puffy face and squinty eyes bothers me, but not enough to switch channels.
Then there are the actors whose personal lives make me not watch their work:
Tom Cruise and his cooky ‘religion’. I can’t watch Kirstie Alley or John Travolta for the same reason. Also because Kirstie and John have become bloated parodies of their former selves.
Kevin Spacey’s molestation allegations keep me from enjoying his earlier work.

I am so sorry to his fans, but for me it’s Jim Carrey.

The only movie I liked him in was “Training Day” with Denzel Washington.

I’ll reverse that. He was very good in Catch me if you can, but I found him insufferable in Titanic. Actually, I found everything insufferable in Titanic, and even Kate Wimslett. For his other films; I can’t say I have much of an opinion, except that I never thought he was stellar.

Seconded!

Mel Gibson because… well, you know why.

Mrs Ded is an ardent Julia Roberts fan and watches anything she is in. Repeatedly… It’s not quite a case for divorce yet, but I do not share her opinion. I do share yours, barring the Snow White film. Otherwise it’s just Pretty Woman 9.0.

Meryl Streep? Just a big snore for me. Some say that she has the talent to carry off her lack of looks. Well, not really.

Some others listed here: you love or loathe Jim Carrey. Great in The Truman Show, where he managed to not go over the top. Long after seeing that I saw Ace Ventura, and it confirmed why I find him insufferable. When I see his later work I just wish that he would up his medication.

Mel Gibson. In retrospect, he should have stuck to Mad Max.

Adam Sandler. Always the same shtick, and it isn’t funny.

Tom Hanks. Even though he plays Tom Hanks really well. And almost always with the same haircut.

Jennifer Aniston. Not as good an actress as she obviously thinks she is.

Fran Drescher. My ears hurt, just thinking of her. Her role as the nanny must be one of the most self-indulgent performances ever.

Sometimes it’s their real-life persona.
Cruise and Travolta, and any other Scientologists.
Kevin Spacey was a great actor, but if I see any film of his from now on … I’ll just see the molester in him.
Ditto for Schwarzenegger.
Woody Allen. From tiresomely neurotic to sexually weird.
Some aged badly. I second *Chefguy *and his choice of Val Kilmer. Travolta also went from pretty boy to pretty bloated. Steve Seagal too, but without ever having been pretty.
Appearance: Meryl Streep and Renee Zellweger,

Pretty much anyone who was ever a regular on SNL, even Eddie Murphy.
And Rebel Wilson. I have no idea what I dislike about her, but I do.

He was Ok in that one non-comedy film where he played a IRS agent whose life was being dictated by a author. Otherwise- nope.

Woody harrelson- stinks up everything.

Tom Cruise.

Kirstie Allie

Kristen Stewart, that bunny sneer seems to be her only expression and she is so wooden.

John Travolta- perfect in Grease, not so good after.

Jenny McCarthy- caused more child deaths than pretty much anyone now alive.

I am with you there.

Arnie committed adultery. Not a molester. Now, adultery is hardly a nice thing, but it’s very common in Hollywood.

Other than his first couple of films, Tom is a “draw” for me. Big, Saving private Ryan, Saving Mr Banks, etc.
