Agatha All Along

My daughter says she wants to watch the whole thing over again once all the episodes have aired to make sense of Lilia’s outbursts. She thinks they may make sense if put in reverse order. Any thoughts?

As someone who actually knows a young woman named Lilia, I find myself doing this very thing on a regular basis.

I did too but partly as was anticipating it to go to scratch.

The directions said a spirit would be released but we just had Agatha acting like she was possessed … for reasons?

Is Agatha actually trying to be good or did she willingly kill for power?

Why is Rio trying to protect Agatha from mommy and the Salem 7 when earlier she was the one who sicced them on her?

Did Teen already know who he really is?

Good episode tonight. I had to go back and rewatch part of episode 1 afterwards.

My teen and I did the same thing.

I just finished the third episode and I’m really enjoying this. For me, the series got a rocky start because I was getting sick of the cop show in the first episode, but I quite liked the 2nd and 3rd episodes. I don’t know what all the online bitching and moaning is about. So far it’s a solid series.

I get the feeling the absorption thing is an involuntary reflex action. She can put herself in situations where it will happen, or avoid them, I think, but once the process starts, she doesn’t control it.

She sicced them on initially because she wants Agatha on the Road, but now that she is, she wants Agatha to finish. That’s my take.

Joe Locke, who plays the Teen, was concentrating so hard on his American accent* that he was a bit annoying at times. While at other times he was fine. I guess this episode had the most dialogue for him so far. Just a dumb thing I noticed and found distracting.

*He’s from the Isle Of Man in the UK

Thanks. Makes sense.

We have our first MCU Bar Mitzvah, will Ben Grimm give us our second?

You know, I wondered about the likelihood of a Bar Mitzvah featuring a fortune teller. The Torah/OT is kinda explicitly in the “anti” column vis-à-vis witchcraft. I mean, it might be a more probable feature than a bacon double cheeseburger station, but it seemed out of place.

Bar Mitzvahs often have themes based on the Kid’s preferences (my brother’s had some baseball decorations. Mine had space ones). If he was into the occult, I could see a fortune teller be there as a fun thing for the kids to do.

The bigger question is why did a 13 year old look 26?

And the theme of William’s was the “Magical Mitzvah”.

William was definitely into magic/illusions. If you check out the wall posters when Billy walked into William’s room the first time, it was full of Houdini and similar posters.

I think (aside from being dead at the right time) that’s why William was susceptible to Billy’s possession.

Well, isn’t that conveeeenient!

If anyone has the time and inclination, the folks at ScreenCrush have devoted a 26 minute video breaking down this episode (well, they do that for all episodes), including the bar mitzvah, and the Easter eggs and differences between the comics and the show. It’s pretty interesting.

I lost my shit laughing at the replay of the scenes from the first episode from Billy’s perspective.

Kathryn Hahn is too good for this world.

She used to annoy me in films like Anchorman and Step-Brothers, but she’s really won me over since her first appearance as Agatha.

Tonight was fun!

Really loved that episode. I like ones that play with time and ones that re contextuilize previous episodes and this did both.
