Agent Carter premiers tonight - with Ant-Man Trailer

Looking forward to the show, and also the trailer!

I assume a few folks are will be watching - and maybe we’ll get a summary write up from pricciar

:smack:

I assume a few Dopers will tune in. That is all.

I plan on watching, but when I read the EW article on the show saying this was Marvel’s big push for having a primary female character in a superhero franchise, I lost some interest.
Not because I am against primary female characters, but because this now seems to be a “we got here first before the Wonder Woman movie or Supergirl TV show” rather than a interesting story that happens to have a female lead. I don’t like agendas.

Eh, I would argue that the show was in the works before anyone decided that there should be a “female comic character featured” agenda. They’ve been developing this show for over a year now.

this looks funny:

I definitely plan on watching it, not least because I’d watch nearly anything with Hayley Atwell in it. But I’m worried the Marvel Cinematic Universe is becoming what Marvel comics were a few decades ago - so many products, so interconnected, that if you didn’t keep up to date with all of them you became lost and unable to keep up with any of them. So I really hope this doesn’t provide a huge data drop required for the rest of the SHIELD season + next Avengers movie.

It’s the main reason I’ve given up on David Weber’s Honorverse. Last I looked, there were two different series by him, a slew of short stories collections, and a bunch of books by Eric Flint (groan) that you had to read to know what was going on. No thank you.

I might give the first episode a chance, but my expectations are low based on Agents of SHIELD. I just felt that one went downhill rather quickly.

I assume you checked out the UK series Black Mirror, S2E1 - she’s the lead.

Unless something odd will happen, there’s nothing “superhero” about it.

Wow – I just watched that episode a couple of weeks ago, and had no idea that was Hayley Atwell (I’ve only seen her as Agent Carter). She’s really quite impressive in “Be Right Back.”

Which needs a separate guide to keep you up on the endless retcons. Has he turned HH into an immortal god yet, or just demigod?

If you haven’t, give it a re-try. This season has been nothing short of excellent all around. Much different than the first half of last season.

Well, they did announce at least one MCU villain shows up, Ironman’s dad is in the pilot, and her cameo on Agents of Shield dealt with her collecting alien artifacts. So while Peggy Carter isn’t a superhero, chances of superheroes appearing on the show are high.

I’m gonna be skipping it, both due to lack of interest in the premise (Captain America is probably the least interesting of all the Marvel movies to me) and I’ve been losing interesting sister show Agents of SHIELD (and yes, I have watched all of the episodes this season… just interesting enough to keep me watching, but just barely).

How many of us have seen the Agent Carter short film that was a bonus feature on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray?

I loved it. By far the best of the Marvel “One-Shot” short films. It’s the primary reason I am so looking forward to and so optimistic about this series.

I’ll watch, of course. I like Agents of Shield, and comic book shows in general. I’m kind of over the whole Ant Man thing already. That movie seems cursed.

I rated it “meh”. The other SSR agents were just too chauvinistic and too stupid.:dubious: And Peggy has found the bad guys have a whole truckload of super explosive, but she doesnt let the rest of SSR in on any info.

It just strains credulity too much.
