Agent Carter S0104: The Blitzkrieg Button

This week break so early in the season has kind of taken the sails out of my excitement for the show, even though I really enjoyed the first three episodes. I hope they are able to win me back quickly tonight. The episodes have been dense with story and action, but there has still been plenty of times for small 1940sesque asides, or witty banter. I look forward to seeing if they can keep that up.

Small thing I picked up online:

I think tonight’s episode features a Stan Lee cameo. Keep your eyes peeled!

Agent Carter S01E01: Now is Not the End / Agent Carter S01E02: Bridge and Tunnel
Agent Carter S01E03: Time and Tide

I’ve been mostly unhappy with the series but I feel this episode was better than average.

So Dottie is some kind of Leviathan operative after all. And I laughed when they pulled up to the Griffith and Stark asked “How’s Miriam?”

When the Dottie moment happened I turned to my husband and said “Oh my gosh, the Doppers were right!” Good call.

I liked it. I thought it moved the story forward nicely and I appreciated Peggy’s reaction to Howard’s lies. She responded well to it.

I’m not so sure that Dottie is a Leviathan operative. Those were some Black Widow-looking moves she pulled, and the storyline suddenly shifted to a mystery on the Russian front during WWII… we might be seeing the first “Black Widow” agent.

Nothing special about the episode, its moving the series along but again, only by inches

No definition forming of Leviathan, so far its just a booogey man.

Still have no idea why the SSR is in NYC, they should be in Europe or Asia, exploiting captured tech and interogating foreign eggheads, and start that story line for the captain america movie with the paperclip scientist.

But no, here they are in the US zone of the interior doing FBI stuff, its a wonder they have not bumped into any of the special agents from the new york office, and the usual turf wars, which is always a laugh.

No back ground on agent carter herself, where she went to school, how she got a mainline commision in the military, instead of the womens aux , her family, peggy as a name does not sound like it would endear itself to the nobs, so it sounds like she came from a merchant family, and seemed to aquire a patron with the juice to get her into a stem type school and commision to the airforce or army.

Declan

Most importantly - a San Lee cameo!
I was wondering when he would show up (though I was thinking on M:AoS)

Brian

Leviathan is Hydra, surely there’s no doubt about that?

It’s not even very subtle…Leviathan = large sea monster. What’s Hydra’s logo, again?

I expect the 60s iteration will be Kraken…

As I understand it, in the comics Leviathan is a group of Soviet supersoldiers who were sort of the Russian version of Hydra.

Leviathan probably is a Soviet agency - the equivalent of the SSR. But Hydra has probably infiltrated it the same way they infiltrated the SS during WWII or Shield in our time.

Stanley Martin Lieber! I love that guy.

Not a great episode until the final few minutes which I thought were solid.

I’m curious-are people thinking Peggy’s office is the only SSR office?
I assumed they were a small organization, but with several more field offices.

Over at io9, the Gawker-related sci-fi blog, they state that in talking with the Agent Carter showrunners, the Dottie character is:

Someone who has gone through an early version of the Russian “Black Widow” program.

I am away from my laptop but IIRC it was stated in io9’s Morning Spoilers piece this morning…

I like that we’re seeing that while Dooley and Thompson are arrogant and sexist, they’re not incompetent. It gives more depth to the characters.

Loved all the Stark scenes.

(Peggy shouts into hallway) “Where are you now?”

Stark immediately pops out of a doorway down the hall, the accompanying girl wearing only his sport coat.

I see where Tony gets it.

Thompson outright stated that the sexism that Peggy faces is unfair, this last episode.
