Agents of SHIELD: S4 E3 "Uprising" 10/11/16

While at a batchelorette party in Miami, Yo-Yo gets a call from Mac but an EMP pulse knocks out all power. Someone is blacking out cities sending them into chaos in an effort to hunt Inhumans while sending messages saying it’s the Inhumans causing the blackouts. Meanwhile May is getting worse and will die in a few hours. Robbie and Daisy combine forces to save his little brother during the LA blackout.

  • Why didn’t SHIELD send them into Miami with and EMP shielded (ha!) car and hand?
  • “I hear your back to your old self.” “I feel cranky.” “Like I said”
  • Is this how Simmons learns about AIDA?
  • When did Fitz become a skilled hand-to-hand fighter?
  • I loved the look on Elana’s face when the SHIELD team arrived.
  • I like the new director
  • The interaction between Mac and Yo-Yo is the best part of the show

Don’t know when, but he certainly should be trained if they send him out in the field. I did note that he tended to ‘cheat’ more than the other two, grabbing things to whack people with more than just using his own hands (although he did do some of that).

Presumably there was some unseen May time involved during downtime on the plane.

Good episode. I’m liking this season so far, a lot better than I thought I would.

Forgot to mention the new plotline - Parminder Nagra as Senator Nadeer who apparently is guiding the Watchdogs (or the people using the Watchdogs) in an effort to round up or destroy the Inhumans. And her brother (?) is undergoing Terragenisis right now - something that she is extremely calm about. Did she cause his Terragenisis or otherwise make it happen. Is she collecting Inhumans for her own purposes?

I really liked that they tried to turn over the “magician” doing some crappy sleight of hand tricks in a failed attempt to get laid. Maybe the Watchdogs will kill David Blaine and David Copperfield.

Before my first thread was eaten by hamsters I mentioned how stupid the party goers must be to mistake slight of hand with Inhuman powers. I mean, it was a freakin’ drink umbrella?! How dumb can you possibly be?

Oh, I don’t know. Doesn’t seem so silly to me.

Not a bad ep overall. The two big fight scenes were staged rather artfully. I especially liked the strobing effect in the one at the EMP device.

May certainly rebounded quickly for someone who had been dead for several minutes, eh? I guess she was only mostly dead.

Woops wrong Thread.

Which was the other fight scene you liked? I counted three fight scenes (Saving Private Gabe, Team SHIELD rides to the rescue, EMP goes boom).

There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive.

I feel the need to point out, once again, that “Defibrillators do not work that way!”

Interesting how they’re still slowly introducing Jeffrey Mace. We now know his full name, and that he expects the press and the public to respect and trust him. Wonder when his full backstory will come out.

The latter two. Hey, come to think of it, I guess we could say there were four, if one includes Daisy/Ghost Rider vs. looters.

That was Saving Private Gabe in my list. Did I miss a fight scene?

I really like the new Director now. Can’t wait to see him in action. I wonder what exactly his power set is. Has he ever had anything to do with other Inhumans before now? Did he know about Daisy’s mom and the secret city? Just hiding in the closet this whole time? I wonder when and how he came out as Inhuman.

Funny how the EMP blasts shut down the car and Coulson’s arm (you really didn’t EMP-proof it Fitz?) but the street lights and building lights were still on.

Yoyo needs to find new friends. What a bunch of back stabbing morons.

If you watch the scene closely, they had just driven from an area with working lights into a dark area. The EMP apparently had a very precisely defined range.

Well, first, it is May. Second, she was perfectly healthy (aside from an overactive brain area) prior to whatever drug killed her. Assuming that metabolized right out of her system (and it must have, or she’d have immediately died again, right?), the only physical affect would be sore ribs from CPR and whatever affected completely ineffective shocks would have. Nothing any TV hero couldn’t shrug off, and potentially no different than just waking up.

No. Sorry, I was misunderstanding who Gabe was. Never mind.
