New idea for a thread game.
Most recent winner will pick a somewhat recent post here on the SDMB. Any forum, any thread. Take inspiration from that post and write your prompt into an AI art generator. Post the resulting picture here without revealing your prompt.
First person to correctly identify the post that inspired the pic with a link to that post wins and can make the next picture. If you’re absolutely sure you’re right, go ahead and post both your answer and your pic in the same post, but maybe you were wrong…
Did the AI screw up and make the bassoon look too much like a clarinet? That mouthpiece says “bassoon” and so not a clarinet to me. But I never played either instrument.
Hmm, what to do now that the actual winner declined to post their own… Go ahead @Bear_Nenno, you at least tried.
They’re cosplay-style headband ears, the kind you’d pick up at a convention or a novelty store. They’re soft and fabric-covered, a pastel lilac inside with darker trim to match her hair. They don’t look biological—no fur blending into her scalp, no movement—just a playful, slightly nerdy accessory perched on a plastic band. In the context of the scene, they amplify the unboxing-video vibe, like she’s leaning into a cutesy, streamer persona while holding up that very un-cute, rather serious bassoon.
Accessories like those often show up in online creator culture, halfway between fashion statement and wink at internet meme-dom. It’s a deliberate collision: a very formal woodwind paired with anime cat ears. That clash is the joke as much as the root beer and trebuchet boat in the background.
I wouldn’t read too much into it. It was just a silly image I started the thread with. I somehow missed the last joke in the post and left it out of my prompt.
I can’t help but notice that “tangent line” in the photo with the bassoon and the bottle label. To my eye, it makes it almost seem like there’s a part of the bassoon behind the label.
It’s the type of thing I think a real cartoonist would specifically change to make sure that there’s a clear overlap, I think.
(This is based on watching a lot of Drawfee episodes – a YouTube show where people draw cartoons in real time while making jokes and such. They’ve made and then fixed those tangent lines, and even discussed them on their drawing help live streams.)
Set this scene in August, 2025 in Florida.
A retired former airline pilot went out to eat at a swanky place with his girlfriend who is also his age. He wears: Pink bermuda shorts, maroon open weave knit polo, white linen suitcoat. White fancy sneakers with no visible sox.
His girlfriend: a gold metallic top, white denim mid thigh skirt, and gold wedge sandals. Plus bling.
Photo-realistic sharp professional-photographer quality, no captions.
I have to tell it “no captions” or it would have put the date and/or location in there.
So, how do other thread games handle it when the current round winner passes on continuing with the game? That’s happened twice now…
