OK…I assume most of you have seen these and know what I am referring to…there is the funeral procession (“Another one bites the dust”) and the massage (“Do you really want to hurt me?”). Both of these are sort of funny–not side splitting, but compared to other commercials currently on TV, they aren’t bad. But they have a 3rd one, and I just don’t “get it”. It has several nuns lined up on a cliff in front of the ocean, and I don’t know the song that is playing…sounds like late 60’s, early 70s…

Can someone please explain the humor to me?

I know the tune is “I’m A Believer” by the Monkees. I really didn’t get the joke either.

The odds that the bread will fall butter side down are directly proportional to the cost of the carpet.

The joke is that, instead of listening to religious hymns about faith, they’re listening to a secular tune about faith in one’s lover.

To expand further:

They are waiting for their “husband”, Jesus, to come walking across the water to be with them.

My family is Catholic, but I have never gone to church myself. I think I heard a long time ago that nuns consider themselves to be betrothed to Jesus. Is this right?
