Al Masjid Al Aqsa

Assuming your audience is ignorant is a very arrogant approach.

Reminds me of an old joke: while at the negotiating table, the Israeli and Palestinian ambassadors are unable to reach any kind of agreement, whatsoever.

Frustrated, the Israeli ambassador throws up his hands and says “All of our problems stem from ancient times. When the ancient Jews first moved into the region, whenever they would leave their fortified encampments, Muslims would ambush and murder them!”

The Palestinian ambassador responsds “Zionist lies and propaganda! There were no Muslims back then!”

“Ah hah!” says the Israeli ambassador “Now that we’ve agreed on that, we can continue.”

Great. It’ll be “Nukes Year in Jerusalem.”
Anyway, I can think of few arguments I’d find less convincing than one sprinkled with quotes from scripture.

Oddly (or perhaps not) Swimming to Cambodia popped into my mind on reading this. The bit where Spalding Grey was describing the scene in The Killing Fields where the Americans are handing out $100 to anyone who lost a family member and $50 to anyone who lost a limb when a B-52 accidentally bombed a town in Cambodia.

I’m with Alessan here. Well, not on his side, but still. Enough posturing. You two camps just fight it out. Jews & Muslims, until someone says “uncle.” I’m sick of the whining by poseurs.

(Granted, here in the USA, we get more access to FLAME’s Jewish whining about how Palestinians don’t really exist, so I appreciate the Muslim side making an English-language showing.)

Just so long as we don’t have to pay-per-view to watch it.

But seriously, that’s what’s happening:

Step 1: Attack American skyscrapers.
Step 2: Attack American cities with nuclear weapons.
Once the US has been thus persuaded to stop supporting Israel, then Step 3: Invade Israel.

Step 4: Prophet!

Abul Anbiyaa, Prophet Ibrahim - Abraham PBUH:
Almighty Allah says in the Holy Qur’an;
“Ibrahim was neither a Jew, nor a Nasara; but he was an upright Muslim and who was not of the idolaters” (Surah Al-e-Imran: 3-67).
Prophet Ibrahim (viz Abraham) PBUH the Abul Anbiyaa, had sent his nephew Prophet Lot (PBUH) in the eastern Jordon, his son Prophet Ishaq (PBUH) in Syria and Palestine and elder son Prophet Isma’il (PBUH) in the interior Arab for preaching Islam. Prophet Ya’qub (PBUH), Prophet Yusuf (PBUH), Prophet Moses (PBUH), Prophet Daud (PBUH), Prophet Suleiman, (PBUH) Prophet Yahya (PBUH) and Prophet Isa Ibn Maryam (PBUT) are descendants of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) through his son Prophet Ishaq (Issac) PBUH). While the Arabs and Quraish tribes are Prophet Ibrahim’s descendants through his elder son, Prophet Isma’il (PBUH) - these descendants are also known as ‘Bani Isma’il’ (viz Sons of Isma’il). Since, Prophet Ibrahim’s (PBUH) grandson, Prophet Ya’qub’s (PBUH) name was also Israel hence his descendants are famously known as ‘Bani Israel’ (viz Sons of Israel or People of Israel).
Allah Almighty (SWT) says: “Allah did choose Adam and Noah, the family of Ibrahim, and the family of 'Imran above all people” (Surah Al Imran 3-33).
Noah (PBUH) said; "… my reward is only due from Allah, and I have been commanded to be one from Muslims”. (Yunus: 10-72).
Allah (SWT) says about Ibrahim (PBUH) and his Sons (PBUT):
“when his Lord said to him, be a Muslim, he said: I became Muslim (viz I bow my will) to the Lord and Cherisher of the universe.” (Surah: Al-Baqarah 2-131).
About Prophet Ibrahim sons God says: “and this was the legacy that Prophet Ibrahim left to his sons, and so did Yaqub (viz Jacob); "oh my sons! Allah hath chosen the faith (viz Islam) for you; therefore die not unless you are Muslims”. (Surah: Al-Baqarah: 2-32).
Allah Almighty (SWT) reveals about Prophet Yaqub (viz Prophet Israel) (PBUH): “nay! Were you witness when death visited Yaqub, when he said to his sons: what will you worship after me? They said: ‘we will worship your Allah and the Allah of your fathers; Ibrahim and Ismael and Ishaq, one (true) Allah only, and onto him we are Muslims.” (Al-Baqarah: 2-133).
Allah says about prayers of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) & Prophet Ismael (PBUH): "our Lord! Make of us Muslims, (viz bowing to thy will), and of our progeny an Ummah of Muslims (viz bowing to thy will).”
Allah reminds to the unbelievers, “Ye People of the Book! Why dispute ye about Abraham, when the Law (viz Torah) and the Gospel (viz New Testament) were not revealed till after him? Have ye no understanding”? [Surah Al Imran 3:65]
Allah says in respect of Prophet, Lot (PBUH) and His people: “… We found there but one house of Muslim. (Surah: Adh-Dhariyat 51-36).
Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) (AS) prays to Allah: “Make me to die Muslim and join me to the righteous.” (Surah Yusuf 12- 101)
Prophet Moses (PBUH) says to his people: “O my people! If ye have believed in Allah then put trust in Him, if ye are indeed Muslim.” (Younus – Jonah: 10-84)
God says that all Prophets’ of Bani-Israel religion was Islam:
“Lo! We did reveal the Torah (to Moses) - wherein was guidance and a light by which the prophets judged, who were Muslims who then turned Jews”. (Surah: Al-Maeda: 5-44)
Allah (SWT) says about Prophet Isa (PBUH) disciples: “And when I inspired the disciples (saying): believe in me and in my messenger, they said; we believe, bear witness that we are Muslim.” (Surah: Al-Maedah 5-111).
God discloses about Pharaoh: “When the fact of drowning overtook him (pharaoh) he exclaimed; I believe that there is no god save Him (God) in whom the children of Israel believe and I am from Muslims.” (Younus- Jonah: 10-90).
About the Queen Saba God says: “She (Saba) said my Lord! Lo! I become Muslim with Solomon to the Lord of the Worlds.” (Surah: An-Naml 27-44)
Likewise Allah Almighty says in Surah Al-Nahl: “and verily we have risen in every nation a messenger (proclaiming) serve Allah and shun false gods…” - (Surah Nahl 16-36).

Thanks to the OP for answering I question I recently had.

I just began to play “Civilization IV” this week (yes, I’m a bit late) and I wondered what was exactly the world wonder “Al-Masjid-Al-Haram” appearing in the game.

One always learns something here.

Thanks for that Abisfyan. That addresses my question from a Muslim perspective but I’m not sure it deals with the question from an outside perspective.

I was looking for some evidence from the Torah (or Old Testament generally) for Abraham’s mega trip through the hot arabian desert - some kind of external evidence outside of the Quran.

If you’re going to persuade someone like me, a non-muslim, to become a muslim then it would be useful to be able to point to some evidence independent of the Quran that Abraham was a muslim (or had ever heard of the concept of Islam). That’s not a lot to ask since the OT was revealed by Allah same as the Quran.

Zen Master Unmon said: “The world is vast and wide. Why do you put on your robes at the sound of a bell?”

The notion that one religion is superior to any other religion accounts for much of the evil in this world.

After leaving Ur of the Chaldees, Abraham traveled to Canaan, visited Egypt and returned to Hebron. God appeared to him in a vision. He promised Abraham that his descendants would inherit the land. God tested Abraham’s faith by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac (Gen. 11:26-25:10).

The Muslim testimony of faith - la ilaha illa Allah, (“There is no god but God”) - has been narrated in the Torah by: “Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-5).

You don’t have to travel through Arabia to get to any of those places, though. Ur to Canaan is just straight through Mesopotamia, and then from Canaan to Egypt and back, you follow the Med. coast and cross the Sinai, none of which is anywhere near Mecca.

Opposes Idolatry.

Concerning his religious awakening in his father’s house, the Book of Jubilees, written probably in the time of John Hyrcanus, relates (xi.) that, in order not to participate in the idolatry practised in connection with astrology by the whole house of Nahor, Abraham, when he was fourteen years of age, left his father, and prayed to God to save him from the errors of men. Abraham became an inventor of better modes of agriculture, showing the people how to save the seeds in the field from the ravens that devoured them. He then tried to persuade his father to renounce idol-worship, but Terah was afraid of the people and told him to keep silent. Finally, when Abraham met with the opposition of his brothers also, he arose one night and set fire to the house in which the idols were kept. In an attempt to save these, his brother Haran was burned to death.

When, in the night of the new moon of Tishri (the New-year), Abraham was watching the stars to forecast the year’s fertility, the revelation came to him that, in view of God’s omnipotent will, all astrological predictions were valueless, and, after fervent prayer, he received word from God to leave the Chaldeans and set out on his mission to bless the nations by teaching them the higher truths. An angel of God taught him Hebrew, the language of revelation, by which he was enabled to decipher all the secrets of the ancient books (see Gen. R. xlii). Leaving his brother Nahor with his father, Abraham went to the Holy Land and observed there all the festivals and new moons (afterward prescribed to the Israelites, but already written on the heavenly tablets revealed to Enoch), besides many other customs observed by the priesthood of the second century B.C.

Breaks Idols.

According to Gen. R. xxxviii. and Tanna debe Eliyahu, ii. 25 (probably a portion of Pirḳe R. El.), Terah was a manufacturer of idols and had them for sale. One day when Terah was absent and Abraham was left to take charge of the shop, an old, yet vigorous, man came in to buy an idol. Abraham handed him the one on top, and he gave him the price asked. “How old art thou?” Abraham asked. “Seventy years,” was the answer. “Thou fool,” continued Abraham, “how canst thou adore a god so much younger than thou? Thou wert born seventy years ago and this god was made yesterday.” The buyer threw away his idol and received his money back. The other sons of Terah complained to their father that Abraham did not know how to sell the idols, and so Abraham was told to attend to the idols as priest. One day a woman brought a meal-offering for the idols, and, as they would not eat, he exclaimed: “A mouth have they but speak not, eyes but see not, ears but hear not, hands but handle not. May their makers be like them, and all who trust in them” (Ps. cxv. 5-8, Heb.), and he broke them to pieces and burned them. Abraham was brought before Nimrod, who said: “Knowest thou not that I am god and ruler of the world? Why hast thou destroyed my images?” Then Abraham said: “If thou art god and ruler of the world, why dost thou not cause the sun to rise in the west and set in the east? If thou art god and ruler of the world, tell me all that I have now at heart, and what I shall do in the future.” Nimrod was dumfounded, and Abraham continued: “Thou art the son of Cush, a mortal like him. Thou couldst not save thy father from death, nor wilt thou thyself escape it.” According to Gen. R. xxxviii, Nimrod said: “Worship the fire!” “Why not water that quenches the fire?” asked Abraham. “Very well, worship the water!” “Why not the clouds which swallow the water?” “So be it; worship the clouds!” Then Abraham said: “Rather let me adore the wind which blows the clouds about!” “So be it; pray to the wind!” “But,” said Abraham, “man can stand up against the wind or shield himself behind the walls of his house.” “Then adore me!” said Nimrod. Thereupon Nimrod (Amraphel; see Pesiḳ. R. § 33, 'Er. 53a) ordered Abraham to be cast into a furnace. He had a pile of wood five yards in circumference set on fire, and Abraham was cast into it. But God Himself went down from heaven to rescue him. Wherefore the Lord appeared to him later, saying: “I am the Lord who brought thee out of the fire of the Chaldeans” (Ur Kasdim, Gen. xv. 7). The legend betrays Persian influence (compare the Zoroaster legend in Windischmann, “Zoroastrische Studien,” pp. 307-313). Regarding the cave in which Abraham dwelt, see ib. p. 113; compare also B. B. 10a. The dialogue with Nimrod, pointing from fire, water, the cloud, wind, and man to God, has its parallel in Hindu legend (see Benfey, “Pantschatantra,” i. 376).

Abraham is thereupon commissioned by God to propagate His truth throughout the world, and he wins many souls for Him: while he wins the men, Sarah, his wife, converts the women. In this manner “they made souls in Haran” (Gen. xii. 5, Heb.). He awakens the heathen from slumber and brings them under the wings of God. He is the father of the proselytes (Gen. R. xliii; Mek., Mishpaṭim, § 18).

Birth of Ishmael.

Once more the Lord appeared to Abram with a promise of abundant offspring, at the same time foretelling their captivity for four hundred years in a strange land and their subsequent inheritance of the land between “the river of Egypt” and the Euphrates. “And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness” (ib. xv. 6). Sarai had hitherto been barren. She now gave Abram her handmaid Hagar, an Egyptian, as wife; and the latter bore a son, Ishmael, Abram being at the time eighty-six years old (ib. xvi.). Again the Lord appeared to the patriarch with the promise of a numerous posterity. At the same time, in token of the promise, Abram’s name was changed to Abraham (“Father of Many Nations”), and that of Sarai to Sarah (“Princess”). The Lord also instituted the “covenant of circumcision,” and promised that Sarah should bear a son, Isaac, with whom he would establish it. Abraham thereupon circumcised himself and Ishmael (ib. xvii. 1-21). Soon after, three angels in human guise were hospitably entertained by Abraham in Mamre, where the Lord again foretold Isaac’s birth, and when Sarah doubted the promise, the Lord himself appeared and renewed it (ib. xviii. 1-15).

And which (following the same fast-and-loose comparative ruleset) has been narrated more recently in the preprandial prayer “God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for our food, AMEN.”

Abisafyan, are you Aftab Alam Advocate (High Court) in Swat, Pakistan ?

Because if not, your OP is the most blatant and massive plagarism I have ever encountered.

i don’t follow what u want to convey?
