I agree with Manda finding a cool place to go in huntsville could be a problem. Guess it would depend on what we all wanted to do. There are a few places to listen to live music drink and eat (crossroads and The Corner come to mind)

Around here in B’ham we could go to any of the southside restaurants that are casual. The little kitten is due in April so I should be fine for a while. There seem to be alot of people from Huntsville here so that would be fine.

Claudia is a pisser. She’s one of my favorite people in the company. I learned a long time ago to always make Claudia laugh so I’ll be on her good side ;). I think part of my current job description is to be the monkey in the box next to her and keep her entertained, as she wonders what string of customer-induced profanity will fly out of my mouth next.
This sucks! I’m on vacation until the 27th, and Claudia will be out that week. Now I’ll have to wait a month to interrogate her!

I have to work the occasional weekend - my next scheduled is Dec. 16-17. I have a sister in H’ville - should I e-mail her for meeting-place suggestions? Maybe she will have an idea.
A suggestion - check out any hotels that might have a decent restaurant/bar. Be nice to get a little tipsy, then just stagger off to a room and collapse in the bed instead of needing a ride.
ellykat, can you make it to H’ville in your delicate condition? If you don’t need to be travelling, maybe we could schedule the B’ham meeting first, the H’ville after the first of the year. Or maybe you would prefer to do B’ham after the kitten arrives so you can celebrate with a ‘post-partum blowout’?

Dire Wolf: Hee! Yep, Claudia is mighty fine. She’s developed her well-honed sense of humor by having to put up with my Dad and his weirdo kids for 20 some years. I really love her, and my Dad is lucky to have her. I shudder to think of the pile of TV dinners, books, beer cans and old Corvair parts he’d be living under if she wasn’t there to hep him!

Hi guys. Either Birmingham or Huntsville works for me. I can travel as long as we don’t wait until March. I have a standard Mon - Fri job so Weekends are best for me. Alot of the places I know are restaurant-y but I can look for something with music if you want. Everyone email me to give me a headcount at ellykat@hotmail.com. Put how many people are coming with you also so I can get a good idea of what size. I am not going to look at high-dollar places because I am poor and they are snooty.
Ellel - I am from Aberdeen originally. It is somewhere in the middle of Columbus, Tupelo, Hamilton and West Point. Very small. I have several friends/acquaintences who go to school in Oxford. My father went to State, so we are sworn enemies. Am I to assume you want a place that serves bourbon?
I think that MS people can be honorary Alabamians for this. Removing the “Heart of Dixie” tattoo afterwards will be up to you, though.
I think we can comfortably include Mississippi in our little Dopefest, but I draw the line at Florida!
I vote for Birmingham as well. It’s central, and I know the city pretty well. I can offer some suggestions for meeting places.
So, let’s hammer out a time. Any suggestions? I’m fairly open on the weekends, with the exception of the weekend of December 16. Anybody want to make it that soon, or are we shooting for the new millennium?
