I’ve been watching the Cirque Du Soleil show, Alegria, on Bravo. Haven’t seen it since last year. Damn, these people are good. The White Singer, the Fast Track, the Hoops Girl, the Flying Man, the Russian Bars. What strength, coordination and control.
I’m blown away by this show every time I see it.
I’m wondering if it’s as good in person as it appears on television. Has anyone here seen it live? I’d appreciate hearing about it (or just any comments in general).
I saw it a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. I recently saw the show on Bravo and wasn’t as thrilled with it. Something about seeing it live is absolutely amazing.
Definitely, if you get the chance, see the Cirque live. Any of them - Saltimbanco, Alegria, Quidam, Dralion, Varekei, O, mystique - I’ve only seen the first three myself (all live), but they are all amazing! The mood, the skills, the music - it’s just beautiful!
I’ve seen O twice in Vegas, and Verekai in Chicago, and Quidam on TV (as well as bits and pieces of others on Bravo). I’d have to say that O was by far the best. It’s VERY different. The pool gives the acrobats ALOT more material to work with so to speak.
It is so much better live that it almost destroys the ability to enjoy it on tape!
We lived in Mississippi when they built the Beau Rivage casino, and they built a theater specifically for Alegria. mnemosyne got it right - it’s an incredibly visceral experience.
