JtC Best thoughts to Hubs!
Completed my third partial week at the museum, and things are still going very well. I took a walk around the place with one of the bosses today, and it looks like they have a lot of work for me to do.

Laundry is done, folded, and mostly put away. FCD will deal with his before bedtime. We had cereal for supper just because. I may sleep with Mel after 2 nights of not much sleep.
Our fuel tanks have been removed. They said we were extremely lucky that the port tank didn’t just self-destruct - it had corroded almost all the way thru. That would have been an environmental disaster.
We’re going there tomorrow to get a few more measurements so FCD can finish his tank design. It will actually be 3 tanks on each side stacked on top of each other. And they’ll be aluminum, so no worries about corroded steel. And before someone asks, it’s multiple tanks so 1- they can fit thru the cabin door, and 2- they need to weigh under 200# each. He’s going to get an estimate to build the tanks on Moanday.
The day is winding down and I hope to crash soon. I’s tahred!
Almost too tahred to remember to send good healing thoughts to JtC and her sweetie. (keeping my sniffly germs to myself.)
I bet you have unique ways to to wake him up if they’d only let you!
So picture this: my mom and MusicMan were having a conversation about tv personalities of the past. The conversation came to Al Roker.
MusicMan says, “man, he’s older than dirt!”
My mom says, “he’s younger than me, thank you very much!”
I hope that he’s fully alert soonest. Hugs.
Krogering is done, although I made the executive decision to leave the floors for SaturdayRed (got a broken night’s sleep, got up late and had a back ache all day). Had a salad topped with popcorn chicken for supper and now, I’ll mess around in the studio.
Howdy Y’all! We got Doris funeralized (is too a word!) and there was a nice reception afterwards. Attendance was a little less than I thought it would be, but that was most likely due to some still icy and iffy roads due to the evil white stuff melt and refreeze at night. The drive over to and back from the church house was mostly good. Church house is on a residential street so there were some icy spots but none too bad. We accomplished nappage and day drinkin’ as well. Sup was via forage. Been chillin’ with some Netflix and popcorn. Now I shall see what teh intartoobz is up to for a bit. OYKW is laid up in the bed watchin’ teevee. I think we shall go for an early hibernation tonight.
JtC hope all is goin’ well with hubs.
Sticky_Buns just how much trouble is MusicMan in right now after the Al Roker comment?
They had stoopid full length windows and kept opening the drapes every time I closed them!
Once he roused enough to be aware, he fought to wake up. He was hungry, he needed to pee and and he was worried about the fuzzbutts. Their dindin was going to be late.
They gave hubs lunch but he didn’t want to eat it because he didn’t want to have to poop in a bed-pan. They put the stent through a vein in his thigh and he couldn’t move, sit up or go to the bathroom for four hours to be sure everything closed up right.
He is doing SO much better. He was able to put his socks on without getting winded and has commented several times on how much better he feels.
When they finally released him, he was STARVING so we stopped for decent Mexican on the way home. He wolfed down a full serving of carnitas and beans before plowing though the chips and salsa.
We are now home. The cats have been fed and he is arguing with Jolene over water glasses. (He seems to think that if he give Jolene her own glass of water, she will leave his alone.) Life is good
Hooray!
That is wonderful to hear!!!
Yay!!!
Happy Friday!
It’s 26, feels like 26, degrees outside and snowing.
I was debating when to get groceries, I think it’ll wait until tomorrow or Sunday.
There’s plenty of other things to do around here today.
The trash was picked up this morning, so we don’t need to do a dump run.
I forgot to hit reply this morning.
It’s been a sleepy day and other than irking, not much got done.
So glad to hear it.
It’s been a good day here. Warmed up to -5 C in the morning. When I went out for lunch I was just wearing my sweater, not heavy coat. When I took my afternoon break and a bit of a walk, nice gentle snow was coming down.
Got a bit of a blizzard after work, but I like that. Driving home on the bypass, couldn’t always see the houses and shops up ahead, because of the blowing snow and grey overcast. That always gives me a cozy feeling, a sense of peace and contentment.
Snow coming down now with some breeze.
Tidied my desk a lot at work, which was also satisfying. I’m a paper guy (unlike the young folk at the office who are all techno-whizzes who store everything electronically and have perpetually tidy desks; curse them!). Cleared up a lot, recycled a lot of paper, dealt with piles that have been building up during some litigation, and it all looks good for Monday.
Hope all’s well.
Me: < attempts to nap >
Spot: < has Tigger level zoomies on bed >
But I’m up, having a Boulevardier, catfish, corn and beans, and lime cilantro rice. It is the weekend.
Ever the optimist, huh? But glad he’s home and full of Mexican food.
Oof. He’s not living that down for a while.
JtC, great news on Hubs, a bit surprised that they let him go home this quick, I had to stay a whole day and night (about 26 hours post-operation) after my hernia surgery. Bet he’s sore and tired tomorrow, so make sure he takes care this weekend at least (if he’s like me, keeping him inactive will be a challenge…).
Pretty much continued to do nothing all evening, attaining a level of sloth that swampy would applaud. I will try to get out a couple of times tomorrow, but nothing strenuous.
VanGO, glad for the steady work, but do wish they would make you full-time offer.
FCM, tanks for the update…
Sticky Buns, hope Music Man was able to get his foot out of his mouth without too much trouble…
You are an odd person, but I like you anyway…
And that’s the late night final. Still early but think I’ll head off to bed here soon, rather tired feeling. Take care all.
It’s 17:18, and yet… I’m thinking of going to bed. Trying to get over this cold. Of course, that would mean I’ll be trying to wake up at 2 or 3.
Well, damn. My son just let me know that they had to put their oldest dog down. It’s not unexpected, as she was 18, amazingly old for a medium-sized dog, but she had the most endearing, perpetually perplexed face. She reminded me a little of doggio’s Gordy, as she, too, was a Princess Pretty Paws about rain. She was from Texas, rescued by law enforcement, and she never got used to all the rain here. I’ll miss her.
I was coming back from a doctor’s appointment when I saw a fire engine drive, lights flashing, into my complex. My immediate thought: What did I leave on?" Anyway, it turned out to be for the maintenance guy. The secretary found him unconscious on the floor of the maintenance shed. She normally doesn’t go looking for him, but she had an odd feeling. Anyway, he’d been like that for an hour. He was able to talk (slightly slurred) when I walked by, but the manager told the EMT’s he’s pre-diabetic, has high BP, and also has nerve damage in his leg. It sounds to me like diabetes, especially because he ate a donut this morning, but the EMT’s were thinking maybe a stroke. Anyway, he’s a nice guy who works very hard. I hope he’s OK.
Add me to the Not Much Sleep Club. I woke up a little after midnight freezing cold. I’d been warm and cozy when I fell asleep, and I hadn’t changed the thermostat, but I was really, really cold, so cold that I didn’t want to get up for an extra blanket because I was already shivering hard. After a couple hours, I did get back to sleep and woke up feeling fine. Weird.
JtC, I’m so glad hub’s surgery went well and that he’s making a good recover!
shoe, so glad you got to be on the receiving end of good works! Those are some nice neighbors.
That’s a good way to put it. I had to have a root canal six years ago. My regular dentist, Dr. C., spent two hours on that tooth but couldn’t get far enough into it, so he sent me to an endodontist. Dr. C. said, “No charge,” even though it took 2 hours of his time, anesthetic, etc. When I thanked him, he said, “Oh, wait’ll you see HIS bill! You’ll understand.” (Still VERY nice of him!) Anyway, WITH dental insurance, it was $800, paid upfront. Toward the end, the endodontist asked if I wanted an antibiotic rinse. I said OK. “That’ll be another $100.” !! I wanted to ask how much for the air I’d breathed.
The tangled root sounds painful. Will they give you pain meds for after?
7:40. I can’t stay awake any longer. Off to bed.
Hey, Nellie Bly is featured on the front page of Wikipedia! Check out the « On This Day » section.
(Will only be up for about a day. Will change tomorrow, likely around 6 or 7 pm, depending on your North American time zone.)
I’m sorry. She sounds like she was a lucky pup. Hugs.
Thanks! Right back atcha!
I also enjoy the challenge of driving in new-fallen snow on top of packed icy snow. Nothing like that little thrill of the tires slipping a bit on a turn, and keeping the car under control notwithstanding.
(With a mutter to myself « whoa there, car! »)
Well, I ordered a new copy of my birth certificate because the old one is pretty tattered. It arrived today, but it was someone else’s birth certificate.
