Or bean sprouts or any other kind of edible sprouts
I’m thinkin I’m wanting to try sprouting. A winter salad made from stuff i’ve grown myself in the dead of winter seems like a cool idea let alone a tasty one.
Problem is I’ve only read some stuff about growing sprouts.
I don’t even know anyone who grows their own.
So, anyone care to share their experience growing sprouts?
Got any recomendations on how to start?
I used to own a lid thingy, that fit on a mayonaise jar.
You put the seeds you wanted to sprout in the clean jar, put in some water, then drain it out the lid. You did this every day and in about a week you had a jarful of sprouts.
The lid is adjustable for different sized seeds.
I sprout LOTS of things. My faves are lentils and mustard. And I sprout bird seed for my bird. I use cheese cloth and rubber bands.
Be sure you rinse at LEAST once a day, or you’ll get mildew.
