All Diablo2 Talk here.........

If any of the tradin’ folks are online, how far should we take the runes? I gather that 2 Ist is better than Gul, but are 4 Ist better than Vex, for instance? Is Vex worth transmuting to anything, should we get that far?

vex is only worth <2 ist in the trading channels, so i’d say trade everything for ists if you can. Alternatively, high runes usually go for around 2 ist + um, so you could get to those if you can. I’d say hang on to any runes higher than vex, and don’t mute them – they’re worth more by themselves. Mute anything lower than Um up to Um, anything greater than Um but less than Ist should be muted up to an Ist (3 Um = Ist in the trading forums, which is why we don’t mute Ums).

See you all tomorrow, i’ll probably be on around 3 or 4 pm EDT.

I thought I had said Lightning trapsin a while back…

Well, I was planning on also making an avenger, too. Dibs on the first Civerb’s to drop.

I’m given to understand that they lag like a mofo. Plus, they eat corpses at higher levels and thus can screw up the Necros.

… and curse me, I hit Submit too soon. I’ll be up for a bit of monster mashing this weekend to burn in a USWest account. Just name a time that isn’t the middle of the night in the UK.

Just a quick coment. That post was at 2:something UTC on July 8 and said tomorow. Now the Bliz Rep that posted is in California, so it could mean today… but if he’s going on the UTC clock and tomorrow from that… then it’ll be resetting on Friday July 9.

I am definately thinking of taking Friday off in either case.

BTW, anyone who gets on later, post just to let me know whether the ladder did reset or not. I’m at work and can get here, but any Diablo sites are blocked.

As far as I can see my traps don’t lag like a mofo. It is possible to be courtious when there are necros around and not just blow up everything in sight

The ladder hasn’t reset yet. :dubious:

So I was awake at 8 bloody AM for NOTHING?

::flays the Blizz Rep who wasn’t more specific::

Then again, I’ve died and gone to heaven expecting them to be more specific than they usually are (i.e. not)…

So I take it that the reset will be tomorrow…

Well, after I get off of work today at 3:00, I will be off for the weekend. I decided that I need another 3 day weekend. I will be up tomorrow morning and working on my summoner as soon as the reset occurs. If I get a good start on him, I’ll start a sorc as a back up for the party.

Yeti, since I plan on having more than one character I don’t see a problem with your son having a summonmancer too. By the way, is there something we can call him that’ll be a little better than, “Hey, Yeti’s son!” or "Hi, noob!! Although if he want’s to be called noob, I’m willing… but it’s usually considered an insult.

updated list

I think we need to consider how often people will be online and playing. I may have missed him most of the time, but I think I am on more often than Ryle is, so perhaps it would make more sense for me to make the sorc. I can have both characters on my account and would have 0 problem giving him the password; since we easily established yesterday that two chars from the same account can be on concurrently (Chronos remarked how odd it felt to see “himself” across the screen), there are no worries about not being able to get into the same game.

I have no work tomorrow, so unless B recruits me to go fix her car (it would be far easier to do it today, but the folks who’d be fixing it are not here today. Figured) I can be online from 8 AM until I collapse at the computer from fatigue.

Right, so I’m going to build a WW druid (though I see Phase is also planning to do so), unless someone sees a build they’d like to have around that no one is making.

Last time I did one I Maxed Oak Sage. Has anyone tried a WW with Heart of the Wolverine? How effective was that?

Which realm are we looking at here? I seem to recall everyone switching over to USWest a while back. Is that where everyone is going to create their new characters?

I’m planning on starting out with the sorc. They’ve always seemed to be the best magic find characters for early game play. I’ll start by going heavy firebolt/fireball/meteor and running normal Meph until I can get good enough items to move into Nightmare. I’ll level and do the same with Meph in NM until I can move into Hell. I have always thought that once you can take Meph out easily in NM you are definitely ready for Hell. I want to be able to run Meph in Hell with the max MF ASAP. I can generally provide tons of equipment to my up and coming characters and Mfing gives ya the rush once in a while when you get good stuff.

At some point in NM I’m gonna start dumping points into the cold skills blizzard and cold mastery, I want to be running Pit runs in Hell with the max number of players and max MF as my endgame.

My second character is going to be a kickassasin. I kinda liked the mageslayer guide that was listed on diabloii.net. I wanna have a PVP player that I can grab when some punk starts talking trash.

We’re doing this on USWest. I know you have plenty of experience with sorceresses, so yours will come in handy. If you create a west account for this, post your account name in Yeti’s account name thread (I’ll link to it after I get home, I have it bookmarked there) or give it to us when you see us in game. As you know, the game names will be SDMB or SDMB followed by a number and you know the password. Also, sometimes you’ll find us in the chat channel SDMB on b.net.

Alright, so you’ll have the enchat sorc punha? Can you mail me the account pass sometime so I can help level him up? Email is ryledup at gmail.com

Oh, apparently a bunch of people are calling Blizzard tech support and they’re saying the ladder reset is 5pm PST 8pm EST.

By the way, I think I forgot to mention, my new account is called *TemporeMores . And have we set up the account yet for the new communal characters?

Also, now might be a good time to post our new wish lists. In the short term, I’ll be looking for Magefist gauntlets and runes Tir, Ral, Tal, Eth, Ort, and Sol. In the medium term, anything volcanic, Skins of the Vipermagi or another skills armor, Visc or Lidless, and burning grand charms. And in the long term, an Occulus or Eschuta’s Temper and fire rainbow facets.

For the communal bosskiller paladin, we’ll need a Io rune (as well as the easier Thul and Nef), a 3-socket knout or scourge (in a pinch a jagged star will work, too), and a 0 or 4 socket paladin shield with good resistances. The rest of his gear is pretty flexible. But we won’t need to start him until we’re approaching Hell, and with an enchantress, we should be able to catch him up fairly quickly.

Might I also point out that levelling the communal characters would be an easy way for non-American Dopers to help out, even if we can’t be on at the same time.

Diablo 2 Account Names - 2nd Season - Ladder - US West

Post your account names here for the new ladder season and refer any new Diablo 2 Dopers here to get into the Brotherhood of Og…

Evil Death - Some of us on the Pacific Coast (Larz, Ryle, myself) are on later (11pm - 1am PDT) which is morning (6am - 8am) in you neck of the woods…does that work for you?

Who - N00binat0r is fine, or you can call him Ian, he’s 16 year old, and will fit in nicely…some of you have already played in a group with him. He also likes the summoning necro character. He’ll probably be on when I’m not since he’s out of school for another month and we are currently sharing the same computer at home for the time being. He’s not a hoarder like me, and he’ll share the items that is meant for other characters.

Just a very few things before I leave for work/school:

  1. I thought it would be more prudent for Chronos to handle enchanting, since he will have more in fire mastery earlier on than I will (I will also be managing cold skills). I am planning to make a standard-order meteorb sorc.

  2. If it’s at 8 PM, I hope to be on by about 9:30, but don’t take that as exactly 9:30. Might not be on until later. I will log in as soon as I am able, and since I slept until 3 today (with a few breaks), I should be good to go for a good long time.

Okay, the latest… according to Blizzard Tech support b.net will be down starting at 8:00PM EST and be down for 1.5 hours while the servers are updated. Since we’re on daylight savings time, I would imagine that means that it’ll go down at 7 tonight and be back up to play at about 8:30 (of course this is only if the people posting about what they were told aren’t lying).

And although I’m taking tomorrow off, I have a meeting from 7AM to 9AM tomorrow so I won’t be on too late. I will be home before 10AM tomorrow and stay on until I can’t stay awake anymore.
