All Diablo2 Talk here.........

Won’t work anymore… he’s lvl 46 and in Act3 NM. Still kicking ass.

Oh. Well I have the runes for Black, so if you know where the knout is, we can give the pally his weapon next time we’re on.

While we’re on the topic of socketed items, what socketed items should one hold on to, should one find them? So far, I keep:
Phase blades with 3 or more
Any elite weapon with 6
Flails with 4 (Heart of the Oak)
Knouts/Scourges with 3 (Black)
Mage Plate and Archon Plate with 2 or more
Ethereal elite armors with 2 (Prudence)
Lightweight elite armors with 3 (Enigma)
Any elite armor with 4

Anything else that should be kept?

I have a hankering for a 3-Tir helm, and the only headgear with low enough str and lvl reqs to do that is a mask, and it can only fall with 3 sockets in Hell. I don’t know yet if a 3-Tir mask would be of more use to me than a Tancred helm/boots setup, but I’d like to try it out.

The amazon is lvl 23 or so, very ready for whenever the next mule rush is. I think I’m going to make another one and just store them so we don’t run out.

iampunha, congratulations on your appointment!

I put a Cathan’s helm and one Cathan’s ring on junkV, if you still need it.

That Cathan’s Mask should give us the entire set. I’m still burning in the community mules, several are done and another one is running while I’m at work.

Chronos, I have the Goblin Toes that we need for the community Clone Killer. It’s on my druid, combined with the 50% Crushing blow that the Ribcracker gives, NM Baal didn’t stand a chance. I killed him 6 times, never even coming close to dying. The last time was for the quest, sending him into hell. As soon as we do a mule rune (which is what we’re saving the pally for now), I’ll pass the Goblin Toes on to the pally. The problem the druid is having now is that it seems there’s no leech from a crushing blow so although things are dying quickly, I’m not leeching enough life. Of course my resists are a bit of a problem with my best being lightning resistance at -35…

The druid is level 71 with maxed Fury, Oak Sage, and needs one more for maxed Rabies… had to try to find an alternate attack for physical immunes and Fire Claws were too obvious… In WW form he’s well over 1000 life and with the Sage going it’s over 2300.

Cold sorceress is next up. Can’t do much more without much better resistances on the druid.

We really do need to do some hell level runs in a group with someone with some magic find so that we can find better equipment. I gave all my necromancer’s magic find to Ryle so can’t find a damn thing myself.

Mule RUN… rune is what we’re going for…

punha, I don’t think we need a boatload of level 24 zons running around… Sure, it’ll get us through the normal Baal quest, but we’ll need a boatload of characters at 40 to do the Nightmare Baal quest afterwards.

My suggestion is not to worry about the Act2 Staff in normal and (if you choose) level the zon to 40 in normal Baal runs. This should only take a couple or 3 hours if you can find enough Baal run games. That way we can use them for the whole run. Sure, having the staff will help the speed though normal a little… but how much time will a level 80-some sorc take to get the staff parts in normal? Also, another thing to think about, if the player inserting the staff unparties we can save staves for each difficulty for the next run.

Norm Baal runs would mean Norm ancients. Isn’t that required to get the mules into NM? Either way, I plan to be on tonight, so if someone can rush current girl from A2 (still need ammy and arcane, but I’ll want the rush after level 20 anyway) to A5, where I can do blood runs until mid 30s, at least, and see what other gear I’ll need to make this girl extra viable.

As always, elemental charms (since upping my dex isn’t doing a lot) are welcome. Particularly useful would be non-fire.

No problem, there are several characters (the necro, druid, or community pally) that could get you where you need to be if you want to take my suggestion. I’ll be on starting my sorc this afternoon and evening. I’ll be using the numbnut3 acct so I’ll see you when you log on.

As for the Ancients quest, the lvl 20 (or 40) character can already have the quest at the start of the game. The mules do not have to have someone get the Ancients in that game before they can get the Baal quest, all they need is for someone to be able to get the Baal quest be down there with Baal when he dies.

As for equipment, we can keep an eye out for low/mid level bows and other equipment for your zons.

Punha, I will be more than happy to give you the whole set of Vidalia’s, since I’ve pretty much outgrown it at lvl 78. With piercing and freezing, you should pretty much kick ass for quite a while. When you hit lvl 42, I’ll give you my spare Titan’s as well if you need it.

A thought, by the way, for an enchantazon… How about a Raven Claw unique long bow? It’s 22 str, 19 dex, and level 15. The important thing about it is it fires explosive arrows, and the explosions will carry all fire damage that you do (including Enchant damage). By using the exploding arrows rather than Multishot, you wouldn’t be spending any mana at all, so you wouldn’t need to worry about Tir armor. And on the Arcane Sanctuary, most monsters will be in a line with you, so the (hopefully piercing) explosions will be just as effective as the spread-out multishots.

If you’re planning on going to level 40, I would also recommend a Razortail sharkskin belt for levels 32 and up, for the piercing. When an exploding arrow pierces, you get multiple explosions, and if they overlap, any monsters in the overlap area get damage from each of them (this also works for Freezing Arrow and Immolation Arrow, incidentally). So if, for instance, you have a pack of ten wraiths on top of each other, and you roll a pierce, then each wraith will take ten explosions, and hence over ten times your Enchant damage.
Oh, and by the way, why is the paladin carrying two stacks of mana potions? I was playing him last night, and found it impossible to take more than two pixels off the top of his blue ball. Fill his belt with reds or purples. And meanwhile, while he’s using the Zak’s Hand (ignore target defense, +2 Holy Shock) there’s no advantage to using Conviction, so I currently have him set on Holy Shock for the damage. Keep pumping Conviction, as he’ll need it once he gets his (non-ITD) knout, but don’t bother using it yet. Unless he’s partied with someone doing a lot of elemental damage.

I put a few things on Ogs_junkV this morning.

+1 lit skills (sorc) GC
Pus Spitter - maybe a weapon switch for a summon necro?
+2 necro wand - I don’t know if any of our necros are still looking for + skills, but there it is.
Aldur’s Rythm - 3-socket.

Nothing great, but not terrible either.

Who, is the Ribcracker better than the Buriza? I hadn’t realized how great tha staff was until I found that one (you’re welcome!)

Who, I put a pair of Goblin Toes on Boss today, so feel free to keep your set. I also muled Aldur’s Armor, which looks to be a nice Druid item (I’ve never played one, so I really wouldn’t know).

If you (or anyone else who’s beaten NM Baal) are looking for equipment upgrades, feel free to tag along on my Pit runs. Each run only takes about 5 minutes, and I have a comfortable 250% MF, so I always get more rares and uniques than I can handle.

Hmm. Food for thought. I haven’t been pumping str at all (4 on the first zon for a bow I quickly outgrew; none on this one) because the +20 str I get from cathan dual rings and ammy (I think I can also get that bonus from the helm instead of ammy, but I’ll have to make sure), plus what I have in charms (though I think I can get more) give me the 45 str (49, exactly; I think I can pull 50) I need for arctic lt gaunts. Vid’s boots req 50, though, and the set is a higher lvl req (in terms both of practicality and theory) than Arctic. I’ll give it some thought. Other suggestions or trial runs are most welcome, as the zon seems to have her peak around lvl 13 (when I can use my 3Tir armor) to lvl 19, at which point I have stopped pumping MS and my crit strike doesn’t get much higher.

OK, need some input. I haven’t been able to test this in-game, obviously, so I am looking for some advice. Here is a potential run-down of gear that might be used at, say, lvl 20:

Ravenclaw
Bloodfist
Iratha’s belt
Twitchthroe
Cathan mask and dual rings
Not yet sure on ammy; could be tancred’s, in which case I also badly want the boots, but I could also go for a safer +life or cathan ammy. I could also go with a Vidala ammy+boots, giving me slight mf, +life, frw and overall res (I do not anticipate res being an issue). Going with Iratha’s ammy would give me good psn coverage, bit more res (+15/+8), +10 dex from partial set and I could keep Vid’s for 30% r/w.

I have a twitch, all the cathan’s I need, 3/4 Arctic and some other bits now that make me fairly decent. I can do a blood run solo, bit more difficulty with another player, and I begin to need help with a third in-game. The main issue is and has been getting enough punch in my attack. I’m making a glass cannon of sorts, though right now my life is over 150 at lvl 20 (+70 life from arctic helps). However, stuff isn’t really hitting me a lot unless I choose to allow it, so I figure why not just go for the fastest killer of this sort that we can make? A scarlet jewel of joyfulness can add a max of 8 min damage, which would be massive (and even moreso when considered with a lvl 10+ crit strike) at lvl 20. A carbuncle jewel of wrath could add 14 to max. These are both jewels that have a clvl max of 8, so if we were really looking to max this (limited) build out, one of each could be put in the bow, helm and armor, should we ever find any such jewels.

Well, if you’re still trying to level her tomorrow afternoon and evening, I have my Cold sorc up to level 23 and in Act5. I still need the Anya quest and the Ancients before I can do Baal runs. At 25 I get Blizzard, which I’m waiting for impatiently since I’m pumping Ice Bolt since it’s a synergy with both Blizzard and Frozen Orb. It’s keeping the damage I do with Ice Blast down since it’s only a synergy with Blizzard.

I know people mostly play on USWest - does that mean any of you are San Fransiscan?

I ask because I’ll be in Frisco from August 30th to September 6th, and while I won’t have much free time to meet people, I could use some help in looking for somewhere to stay that’s as cheap as possible (either for myself or for three people).

TIA,

 DC

So thanks to Yeti, Boss_Og now has his shield, and after a level’s worth of pumping strength[sup]*[/sup], he’ll be able to wear it, too. I wouldn’t want to go up against the Big D’’ just yet, but together with the Goblin Toes jmizzou gave him, this is easily enough that he should be able to solo NM Baal (and he’s still only in normal!). Let’s get that mule rush together soon.

Meanwhile, I’m laden with goodies. I found an Ethereal Edge over the weekend, and I’m also holding onto a couple of rare claws. One of them is extreme damage: about 360% ED. It’s only Normal, but it should upgrade very well. The other has +2 to shadow skills, which is useful for casting Shadow Master, Fade, etc. on weapon switch. And I’ll probably be making a new Lore for myself (two socket shako), so my War Hat Lore will be up for grabs, too. Anyone want to call dibs?

*Boss is a bit overdexed at the moment, so we can probably cut back on that for a few levels. When he levels, turn on Holy Shield, equip him with his resistance shield, and look at his chance to block on the character screen. If it’s 75%, let dex be, and if it’s less, then add points one at a time until it’s 75%.

Archerof_Og is high 30s and ready for a mule rush (probably the one after the DC killer). I will probably mule her gear to the lvl 26 one and try to get her to lvl 36 or 37 in the next few days. I won’t be on much today or tomorrow; class tonight has a test, and tomorrow I have work and school arranged in such a way that I am gone from 10 am until 9 pm, if not a bit later. Thurs. and Friday will be better.

Alas, I am a SFer only in spirit;) Born in Oakland, though.

Punoqllads is in San Jose…I think he’s as close to SF in our group.

Hmmm…what about Larz (i.e. - Densa)?

Chronos, I’m gonna keep looking for a better shield, but that royal shield (w/ +30 resists) is a great intermediary shield…but a vortex shield (w/ up to +45 resists, with four sockets or non-magical/non-socketed for Larzuk to do his thing) is the real endgame item. The strength requirement is 148 for the vortex though compared to 114 for the royal. I don’t know what you have planned for the endgame strength for the commie paladin, but I hope it’s at least 148.
