Well, actually it won’t because I don’t have a friends list set up.
Don’t wait on me - I won’t be playing again before Monday.

voltaire & sturmhauke…account names here please…
The only similarity is the maxed Conviction. For an avenger, the primary value of Conviction is the reduced resistances, making monsters more vulnerable to your elemental damage. For a clonekiller, though, the primary purpose is to to reduce enemy defense, since that’s the only way to reliably hit past D’’'s insane defense (other than guaranteed hits like Smite and Guided Arrow). Vengeance for this guy is only an incidental skill to be used against the occasional physical immune, with Zeal being his primary attack, so increasing Vengeance damage isn’t a high priority.
My first clonekiller did have 16 points in Resist Fire just for the max resistance, but on experimentation, it looks like 75% is enough, and without spending points there, the build can be ready earlier, and eventually work on more valuable skills. Salvation doesn’t have any direct usefulness for clonekilling, but it’s valuable enough in parties to justify one point. And the Prayer is for keeping himself alive: If soloing a boss, the clonekiller uses Smite and Cleansing/Meditation. He still needs potions, but the prayer makes enough difference that he can use red potions instead of purple ones. The added healing on Holy Bolt is a nice bonus in parties, though.
sturmhauke reminds me: I still have most of the runes we upgraded on the last night of the old ladder. Does anyone trade on nonladder and want to call dibs?
Okay, the community paladin is lvl 31. All the defensive auras you wanted a point in are done. I was working on conviction when I quit. He’s just been doing Baal runs for the last hour or two.
My barb didn’t have much of a problem hitting D’’. He had a problem doing a lot of damage, but then when he tanked D’’ he usually just stood there and kept him in one spot so someone else could pelt the guy with meteors.
Can someone whisper me the communal account pass? I can’t seem to access gmail.
Chronos, I’m trying to condense my accounts too…my son will probably be interested in both of our runes/items. He finally got his computer back last night, so now we can be on at the same time.
When the commie paladin hits level 40, are we gonna run him up to NM baal runs? If so, I’ll help run him with my amazon.
I don’t know if anyone played him since I signed off last night, but even if they didn’t, he’ll be 40 this afternoon.
Okay, he’s level 47 now. He’ll be waiting until someone wants to rush him through nm.
Well, last night was productive. I gained four levels without even trying, entered Hell, and got all the quests and waypoints through rescuing Caine. Plus, I helped with a rush, and NM Duriel was actually nice for a change! He saw that he was in the presence of an awe-inspiring mistress of the flame, and therefore left behind Magefists as a parting gift. That’s one piece of endgame equipment down, only a dozen more to go!
Also, I’m currently holding on to a very nice barbarian helm. It’s got +2 Natural Resistance, +3 Battle Cry, and +3 Battle Orders. Plus three sockets, so you could put, say, Delerium in it and make a near-ultimate yelling helm. Ryle, I think you currently have the only barbarian… Do you want it?
Meanwhile, with the paladin getting up in levels, he still doesn’t have the gear he needs. Specifically, please keep an eye out for the following: A three socket knout or scourge, a four socket shield with +30 or more resistance, Guillaume’s Face winged helm, and Goblin Toes light plated boots.
Hey! Let me be the first to congratulate iampunha!
Er, wait, he hasn’t announced it yet, so I’ll let him tell you why I’m congratulating him…
iampunha is a him, isn’t he?
Yes, punha’s a he…
Now you’ve gotten me curious…
I could have sworn that W and I found one, and that we similarly discussed this find with G.
(for those not in the cool kids club, W=Who_me and G=ckhd)
In other news, the countess seems to have taken up shop as a miser. I got a Thul in NM running her and that was the highest in six runs.
In case phase42 is talking about The Dark Library, I know I announced that, pending approval of some other folks (which approval was swift in its journey), I was admin at the dark library. You can see my first article (update, really) here:
My two fics, which are rather drastically different yet both set, more or less, in the d2xp world, should be making their way into that library before terribly long.
I actually do know how to code (as you see if you read my article). I thought, obviously incorrectly, that this site would translate that to html. http://tdl.diabloii.net should take you to the site.
Yup, that’s what I was talking about
I remember you announced a few weeks ago that you were in the running for the position, or one of the finalists, but I hadn’t seen you mention that you had actually gotten the position.
Well, I’ve spent the last few days creating a couple databases (in FileMaker Pro v5, Mac OS X); one to catalog all of my set items and one for all my uniques. So now I know exactly what I have. I’ll probably catalog the rest of my items (rares, runewords, socketed items, etc) but for now just the sets and uniques.
I seem to have quite a number of duplicate items (as in I’ve found more than one of each, not “duped”).
I also have five mules that need to be “permanented” soon - I’m moving next Thursday and will probably be without a good 'Net connection for a little while (which is why I’m not starting any new ladder characters).
So, I’m debating myself about what to do. I really don’t want to spend ten hours playing mules to get two hours in on each. So I think I’m going to dispose of my duplicate items. I think that will clear up enough space that I should be able to move things around and eliminate the non-permanent mules.
So, what do do with these duplicates. I’ll have to look at the mods and see which of each particular item has the best stats, and keep the best one. But how best to dispose of the extras. Should I sell them to merchants? Just give them away? Most of the items of which I have extras are obviously not “elite”. Most aren’t even “exceptional”, though I have two Corpsemourns and four Haemosu’s Adamants.
I could post a list here of what I’m ditching, and y’all could claim what you want. Or I could just hand them out in public games.
Also - somebody loaned me a Guardian Angel for my TeslaFroster. I’ll need to arrange to give that back, unless the owner doesn’t want it (it’s of course non-ladder now). Was it on the communal mule?
Here is a brief list of what I want for a good enchantzon:
Pluckeye Short String Bow (Unique); alternately, Arctic bow is good, though the reqs are such that it isn’t usable until probably level 10, level 12 if you go for the +str boni from:
Dual Cathan rings and a cathan ammy for the +20 str, +30-40 fire dmg
3 Tir-ed breast plate
Death’s sash
Cathan’s mask or a 2-Tir helm
Sander’s boots (gorefoot for early levels). Cow King’s boots would be ideal, but if wishes were horses…
Also as many low-level elemental charms as I can get. I believe I detailed this previously.
Oh. Apparently I am now semi-famous in the d2.net world. See their most recent posting.
Just in case someone doesn’t know where to look, it’s the top posting here.
Okay, my new Fury WW druid is officially a beast… albeit only in normal so far. He’s up to level 38 and kills without mercy in Baal runs. He has maxed Oak Sage and the rest of the points are going into WW skills. I need to put points in Lythanthropy and Werewolf itself but he’s up to 10 (with a +1 ammy) in Fury and he just does his thing. Whoever put Ribcracker on the Community mule… I thank you very much. He just soloed Baal in a run where he couldn’t get quest.
We muled a maul with decent damage and dual leech, but maybe you don’t need it…
I have discovered that arctic bow and gaunts add 20-30 cold damage. This, needless to say, when added to the 30-40 fire damage from dual cathan rings and ammy, makes for a good bit of damage.
Perhaps later today I can make some norm games with my sorc (you’d then be able to kill baal and get the first-kill drop) and have the zon run arcane. She is 19, and I think once she is 24 I will strip her down again and start anew. My hope is that I will have a few lvl 20s for norm-nm mule rushes. Oh, and of course another big part is that she has the sign and the staff.
