All Diablo2 Talk here.........

Damn, hamsters ate another post.

ED, the paladin is black.

iampunha, is your dual leech ring called a Raven Spiral? If so, it’s a dupe. In fact, I’d wager that 95% of the dual leech rings out there are dupes. Boo on you! Also, you can put keys in your cube and they’ll still work. Saves an inventory space.

Fenris, while amazons are fun, they’re absolutely terrible at magic finding. Their gear isn’t suitable for it, and they don’t have the life to be able to tank.

My mf zon, is running 430- something mf now.

62% on a Ptopazed Stealskull (I have a shako but Stealskull is dual leech)
33% ammy (34% Lit res.)
37% Chancies
30% Goldie
Skullders (something like 106% +24% Topaz)
33% boots
a 27%and a 29% nagel
and some charms

BTW, I was wondering why you told me that a Paladin was black, but I see it was Evil Death you should have directed the remark to… I thought I was losing it…

Munch, I’ve seen my ring as being banned on the Bnet marketplace because it’s such a well-known dupe. However, I got it from voltaire, so it ain’t my fault:D 1.10 allows for dual leech rings to spawn, so I should be ok. And I have a crescent moon just in case.

My amazon was running upwards of 500 (without merc kill) before I took her apart.

Oh, BTW … while the West rules basketball, USEast rules Bnet. Fenris’ zon is now lvl 62, at least.

How long ago’d you start her, Fenris? Three days ago?

I don’t know what’s the big deal of having ITH, hacked, bugged or duped items is…

Why is it so taboo for everyone? Do you have to be pure to have fun? So me using an ITH sword makes me some kind of impure unlegit newbie who can’t handle playing the game fairly and how it was meant to be played?

I find there is nothing wrong trading for items that are hacked, bugged or duped… If you want to play the game that way by all means go ahead. It’s a lot easier and can be fun mowing down monsters left and right. But just realize that they may disappear or get some accounts banned. I could care less if my accounts were banned, just as long as all the other ITH/hacked/bugged/duped item users do too.

Yes, I use all of the so-called “bad” items…I traded for them, using trading skills to get them with items that are legit. And yes, I duped way back in the days when there was that ANYA/LARZUK dupe method. This was like 2 years ago. I use maphack, an ancient version of it. I used a pindlebot when it first came out like a year ago or 1.5 years ago. I didn’t lose any accounts because they didn’t ban ppl then. I stopped using the bot after like a week playing around with it. I didn’t find anything godly.

So what’s the big deal? Have fun any way you want, I could care less how you go about it. For all those purists, just play with other purist friends and stop crying how the “d2 economy” is all screwed up by all the duped/hacked/bugged items. If you don’t like it, play amongst legit/purist players.

I don’t Player Kill, I use all the items I traded for to gather me more items, more experience and levels, and more variety of character builds. All the hacked items I use don’t affect the general d2 public directly. I either cow with others, solo mf or solo play in multi-playered games.

There is nothin wrong with using hacked items, it doesn’t deteriorate your skills. I’ve been playing d2 legitly for a long time, I know I can survive with crap gear and I surely know that I can survive in the game without any uber gear like windforces and grandfathers let alone ITHs, occy rings or dual leechers.

Play the way you want to play, all you purists need to relax and just play the game you want to play it and let others play it how they want to.

Oh this semi-rant comes from a long time stewing from some friend of a good friend of mine who came into a game and started telling me off on how pathetic I was for using ITHs…people like this need to get off their pedestals and relax.

There is a place for hackers/dupers/bugged players/etc:

Open Bnet. Single player, LAN, etc. There you can see the map in front of you because you’ve already explored the map in a previous game. But you still don’t know where the MSLE monster is because even then, monster spawns are random.

Closed Bnet was supposed to be for people who weren’t going to invent new pieces because the game didn’t have what they wanted.

There are select few people left who do not knowingly use something duped/hacked/bugged. The number of times I’ve had people say “I’ll give you a bugged string/occy ring/white ring/etc” for a rush, or the number of people asking if anyone had a bward or beagle or bvalor (bugged Ward/eaglehorn/valor) … ugh.

I use a ring that is probably duped. If and/or (probably AND) when it is deleted I’ll revert to a Crescent Moon. My character’s life does not depend on that piece of equipment. I did not trade for it, I did not buy it on Ebay, I did not make it with an in-game hack, etc. It is slightly easier for my barb to survive with that ring, but it is not utterly necessary.

Everything I have done has been legitimate. I have stopped trading specifically because of the risk of having gear that isn’t legitimate. Part of the whole fun for me is to see how good a legitimate character I can make. If legitimacy wasn’t an issue I’d just buy a bow with 100000 min dmg, fill my inventory with hexes, get dual white rings, etc. I’ve stopped rushing outright because the return just isn’t worth it … a good rune, if I’m lucky, and much time wasted. Drops are usually crap because I have to compensate for the increased difficulty by bringing in a tank instead of using a MF char. I don’t trade rushes for items (i.e. me giving the rush) because what happens if it turns out to be fake?

When the ladder comes out, one reason I will be playing it almost exclusively is because it will be pure … that is, until someone hacks their way in and imports half a dozen windforces and grandfathers and some other goodies. I have been playing Single Player for the past week or so … a paladin. Using only gear I have found/bought/made (a runeword item and am imbue quest), I managed to beat Diablo with players 8 enabled at lvl 31.

Normally a level 31 paladin of mine would only have spent a half-hour or so in Hell Cows. I have not muled to/from this character nor do I intend to do so.

I guess in the end I just have one general question for you, Madawc: what would you use if you didn’t have that Ith sword?

my legit, cruel colossus sword of alacrity (which i made)with 2ohms and a 40/15ias jewel (which i traded for)…

Or a Fury Runeword Balrog blade, or a Silence Runeword Colossus Blade, all legitly found other than a JAH for Fury that was traded for.

Or even Bul-Kathos’ Colossus Sword, which i found in Hell Glacial Trail.

Those are my legit options.

If i was poor, such as the scenario when 1.10 comes live…

My options would be limited at first. This is what my 1.10beta (first beta version) barb did.

So my plan was this,

Find me a socketed sword, any type ASAP. Hoard me all the low level runes. Making sure I keep a TIR and EL, make a STEEL for the massive attack speed and open wounds modifier. make 2 of them, keep a decent 3 socketed shield with diamonds as a backup. Use Double Swing as my initial attack from levels 1 to 60. Only one point is necessary for double swing to be effective. Desperation at low levels would net me making a crappy gemmed sword with like one chipped sapphire, one chipped ruby and one chipped topaz.

Pump Battle Orders when the opportunity arises, one point in its prereqs, one in taunt and battle cry and battle command.

a few in Nat res to keep resists good, one in all the other combat masteries like iron skin, inc stam and inc speed. All out sword mastery.

all combat skills get one point, other than double throw and frenzy and whirlwind, that is until i can find better weapons and more mana leech and a larger mana pool.

Hoard all gems that i come across, making sure to make perfect rubies for blood crafts (gloves, amulets, rings, belts and boots if needed), or make other crafts to fill in the gaps of weak equipment. If desperate for mana leech use the NEF Perf Ameth jewel and mask type helm for some.

Leveling all occurs in definite areas. For example, I plan on getting to Nightmare Difficulty at around level 35 ish, gain levels while questing in Nightmare act1 and act2. I don’t plan on doing multi-playered games at all. It will be strictly solo when trying to quest and beat the game. I’ll most likely enter games with people in it but soloing in another area like flayer jungle to level up. I’ll also make sure to save up crushing blow modded items like crafted blood gloves, rattlecage or goblin toes. And hope to God that I find at least one decent Unique exceptional Sword to use. I got lucky with my beta barb by finding a Swordguard from NIghtmare Shenk when doing MF runs. Mind you MF = BS in 1.10, my barb had like about 25% mf on and found the swordguard, but didn’t find jacksh!t with 150%mf on.

This barb was never tweaked or xferred items, nor did it get doctored using shadowmaster. I played legitly from level1 to it’s current level77. I had problems selling some good items i couldn’t use. I had a rouge merc for a long time as well, since i found Skystrike early on and wanted to get my money’s worth from that find hehe. Might merc’s help a great deal as well. Gamble gamble gamble and hoard all those runes and gems.

I’m well prepared for playing legit, yet I find playing with all the hacked items fun and helps me make better builds. I could kill monsters faster and not waste my time whirlwinding ten times more.

Oh and don’t think I some little kid who uses hacked items to feel big and that I just started out and need some sort of crutch to play an easy game a lot easier. I paid my dues, I played through all the patches. I have legit pre.07 items, dual leech rings that I personally found, .08 unique items like lycander’s flank, titan’s revenge, kelpie snare and a crap load more. I just find that people making the assumption that only newbies use hacked items is sort of bullsh!t. I know some dinosaurs like me who played d2 from day one who have hacked items and legit items and prehistoric (or pre.09) items. We’ve battled hard, we’ve played long and what we do with our time and hard earned finds is our business. Calling us newbies or me a newbie for using hacked items makes me laugh a great deal… to me all diablo2 players are newbies, well more than 75% of the players are considered newbies to my prehistoric ways…

just remember the days when lance barbs ruled the day, damn do I miss those days. And to imagine we had tiny stashes as well…

oh btw, I don’t trade anymore, nor do I even play much online since i lag horribly after getting a router.

but calling someone a newbie for using hacked items just grates on me… and yeah, I know none of you said things like this but some guy did say this to me online and I just simply left cuz I don’t need to hear his high and mighty opinion on petty things like a video game.

I do abhor all these bugged items on the closed Realm, but I don’t have any qualms with them. All the Ebay types need to make some scratch screwing around with closed realms making godly items. If I can trade for one, that’s good on me and if I can’t, I don’t say that all those bugged users are losers. they’re just a breed of game player that I’m not, they like to buy items with real cash, they like to play with uber characters and they like to fight an unfair duel. Doesn’t affect me.

I just think all purists are just a bunch of whiny sucks with no trade skills to obtain hacked items. Big deal if you don’t play with hacked/bugged/duped items, what? now you’re of higher moral standard cuz you don’t use em? It’s just a damned game but well, if that’s how they feel, more power to them, but in my opinion all the purists are sorely missing out on a new gaming experience. A gaming experience they and all of the d2 community wasn’t supposed to experience, a certain sense of godliness.

And if anyone wants me to list all the hacked items I own with full stats, I will gladly type it out and tell you how I got it. All through trades mind you, but I got a boatload of hacked items from one item that was a legit find a Cruel Blade Bow of Evisceration (did like 200 max dmg range, wasn’t perfect in %dmg or +maxdmg something like 52maxdmg adn 276%ed, with no sockets).

I could go on and on with diablo2 talk.

man all this talk really makes me want to play again online, but dammit my lag is horrible!

Lvl 65.

I put point in this morning per your “recipe” on the prev page:

St 110
Dx 85
Health 80
En 15

and I’ve still got 110 attrib points to put it! (How should I distrib 'em?)

I coulda played all last night: if I didn’t have to be up and fresh for a meeting in an hours, I would have played longer!

Thanks!

You don’t see the connection here, do you?

To create an ITH, a hacker has to fuck with the realms and the battle.net servers so much, it used to crash the realms. Remember those times logging onto battle.net and it would take an ungodly amount of time? Remember the rollbacks? Remember games crashing unexpectedly? Know what contributed greatly to that?

ITH.

Giving ITH makers a demand fucks up the realms beyond belief, not just the trading market.

Congratulations, Fenris!

I’ll be on this afternoon after about 4:30 Eastern if you’re going to level up more.

As for your attribute points… I doubt that you’ll need more strength unless there’s some equipment you want to use (for example the Windforce Bow needs 135 str). Energy stays 15. Dex increases your accuracy and your damage, health increases your life. I’ll let **punha]/b] guide you, since we differ in our views here.

Windforce takes 134 str.

Who_me, what would you suggest for Fenris’ zon?

Fenris, this is the stat build the girl you saw last night has (keep in mind this is at level 96):

Str 127 (this with other bonuses from things I won’t be using when she goes back to Mfing)
Dex 223 (before bonuses from gear)
Vit 255 (this came to about 900-ish life back when she was MFing. Now, I have her with a good bit more, so that she has about 1300 life).

I’d put them equally into dex and vit. The 3 golden bird quests will bump your life up 60 points, and doing anya three times will help your resists, which help your life in turn. And if we play with an idea I’ve been toying with in my head (running hell cows in an 8-player game with a barb, zon/sorc and paladin), then you’ll have the extra life from a barb and the salv or whatever from a paladin, so you won’t need to worry about your resists being all negative. My lightning res got to be about 35 when I had mf gear on, but that mf was also around 400, whereas at 500 it was (the ltg res) more like -33. YMMV.

Waitaminute… What the heck’s an ITH item? So far as I know, that’s a pretty low-level rune, and while it’s nice for low-level characters (4.5 average damage is more than you’ll get from most low-level jewels), it’s far from godly. Is there some hacked way to put in an unlimited number of them, or something?

And as for bowazon builds, I rely mostly on alternating strafe/immolation arrow (the strafe fits nicely in between the casting delays of the immolation, and leeches for me) for damage (both are maxed), my valkyrie is overmaxed (with the items I equip to cast her, she’s level 30, or 32 if I find a shrine), one point each into Inner Sight, Slow Missiles, and Decoy, and a handful of points into the other passive skills (they all have diminishing returns, but at least one in each is mandatory). Freezing Arrow is great for surviving desparate situations, but you only need one point to get the freezing effect. I wasted some skill and stat points at low levels before I knew better, but now I have 106 strength (for vambrace gloves) and everything else into Dex.

I’ve gotten MF up over 400, but it’s hard on a Bowazon; the only MF bow is Langer Briser (which I have). I have zero survivability in full MF gear, so I run back to town to change clothes once I’ve slivered Meph. And my resistances all suck (all around zero, even with 40% to all from my bow), but that’s OK, since I can almost always avoid getting hit in the first place.

This is all on single-player, by the way, and all of the gear I use I found or made (legitimately) myself. No trades, even, except between my own characters. So it’s possible.

Chronos, an Ith item:

Make Silence in a weapon (Dol Eld Hel Ist Tir Vex). Preferably ethereal (more damage, lower reqs IIRC).

Now take the runes out. Ad an Ith and a Zod (so people can’t re-Silence it, my guess). Before long people were selling them with funky jewels in them, Zodded, Ohmed etc. It’s gotten pretty crazy.

IIRC Ith hit the market around the time that 160/60 armor hit the market. The damage increase was disgustingly big. The decrease in the value of certain other things was … well, I’m glad I’m not big on trading.

BTW, Chronos and anyone else who thinks they might want to MF with a zon:

There are exactly two weapons I have found that are strong enough that you can MF with them and mostly-all mf gear otherwise:

Titans
Buriza

I have an eaglehorn and it doesn’t do enough damage (especially given that the buriza adds a good bit of cold damage). Mav’s bow doesn’t even come close. Etc. Buriza is the only one I have that does it well enough, though I haven’t tried with a windforce (don’t have one).

With Titans you can add substantial MF from a shield. I made a titanzon once to MF hell cows, but that got stopped very quickly when I realized I didn’t have enough gear to split between two MF chars. And the increase in MF from a burizon is really not that substantial.

Fenris, I muled some MF gear to my barb today, so we can put it on you now and see how well you do. I’m going with wealth for you at first, because of the +2 mana/kill and +10 dex. When your girl is lvl 80s, say, we’ll switch you to a Skullder’s.

iampunha, a few corrections on ITH. One, ethereal weapons don’t have lower reqs. Also, people weren’t putting an Ith rune in afterwards, the process by which the runes for Silence (but not the mods) were removed gave the item the runeword name “Ith”.

What?

Full stop.

“Take the runes out”???

How th’ hell do you remove runes/gems?!

Hack the realms.

Sorry, but this is the real ITH method and reasons how it got its name…

Ethereals DO have lower req’s as well… -10 str and -10dex on any ethereal weapon or armour compared to it’s non-ethereal counterpart. Meaning a Colossus Blade with 189 str and 110 dex would have 179str and 100 dex on its ethereal version. It is not 10% but rather an integer value of 10.

ITH items were made ages ago, they are still prevalent because of all the dupe methods that were out, which pumped out more copies of them.

ITH items were made using a program called D2HackIt, a packet sniffer and sender type program where you send bits of info to the closed realms to force certain actions to be made.

SUCH as sending (this is a random number and bit) 90A000752343 packet to get your character to sell items to a vendor such as Charsi.

What the ITH items used was a “Matrix” hack or so it was called, which enabled 3 people to create ITH items. One person was there to sniff the item id’s of the runes within the runeworded items. (One person was to send packets and another to take the ITH item out of the game as soon as it was made.) Such as DOL ELD HEL IST TIR VEX. Once they got the item id’s, they used packet senders to place the runes in a socketed item all in the Vendor Sell/Buy screen with Charsi (since people knew of the Charsi Packet numbers) So once they placed all the runes in to get the runeword to activate, they used more packets to directly sell the runes that were in the runeworded socketed item. (which shouldn’t be allowed but was). They added a ZOD rune to ethereal items to make it indestructible (this is a known 1.09 bug that needs to be fixed and it is still a bug in 1.10 where you ZOD an item and use the de-socket recipe and it stays Indestructible without a ZOD present)…

The name ITH is just an after effect when all runes are removed from a runeworded item… It has nothing to do with adding an ITH rune.

ITH’s cannot be made anymore since blizzard fixed it ages ago, if you want to try it out using packet senders and sniffers you will almost surely get banned.

There are plenty of different ITHs out there.

SILENCEd Col Blades that are Ethereal are hot ticket items as well as SILENCEd Berserker Axes.

SILENCEd ITH items are great because the runeword modifiers that stay are near godly, like 75 all resists, 20%ias, 200%ED, Hit blinds target, 4%Mana Leech. Just look at the runeword stats and subtract all the individual Rune modifiers to see what an ITH would look like. Then you can add jewels, OHMs, or hacked jewels to add to already crazy modifiers.

LIONHEART ith armors, WEALTH ith armors, RHYME ith shields, FURY ith melee weapons, SILENCE ith weapons. all crazy.
