I’m not a wizard with computer speak or what not, but what I do know is once the router was installed to split the cable to another computer in the house, I haven’t been able to play a damned game where my ping spikes to 10K + every 3minutes.
When I didn’t have the router installed, I played to my heart’s content, lag was never a serious issue for me. I haven’t played online for quite a while for more than 1hour. I either give up in a lag infested death or just chat with b.net friends in a chat room.
I’ve been on USEast d2:LOD since it came out, and on D2 classic since it came out and I have no beefs with the people who trade/sell/buy hacked up items. It’s part of the economy, not something that’s welcome but there. I hate all those purists and purist wannabes that need to make playing with hacked items a moral dilemma that they’re better than me in. It’s just a game, if you don’t like what’s there, then ignore it, you don’t have to whine, bitch and complain that people out there using said taboo items are newbies. Just a beef that I have with all the high and mighty purists.
In point of fact, the first Ith weapons I saw did, in actuality, have Iths in them. Usually only one or two. I asked one or two why they put an Ith in and they said they hadn’t … it was the safeguard method for making sure nobody could re-ith an item, so to speak.
Whether or not this would be a safeguard method or it would even be possible to re-SILENCE something that had the runes skewered from it … I dunno.
Players 8 can only be done on Open bnet (and I think only in non-internet/lan games). To do it in v. 1.x up until 1.09X (i.e. not 1.10), just type in “players 8” as you would type in something like “hey punha you missed a few cows” or somesuch.
BTW … don’t mean to brag. But. I just found my fourth Cloudcrack. This one’s a 194% (not the highest I’ve found).
I don’t play paladins on Closed Bnet. I don’t find them really conducive to tanking or MFing. They don’t do anything outrageously spiffy (fist of the heavens gets tired after a very short while), etc.
Anyone got something similarly cool for my Cloudcrack?
I really hope you also don’t complain about how long it’s taking Blizzard to push 1.10 out. I could care less what hacks, dupes and cheats to do the economy. That’s not why I play. I don’t duel, so I could care less if there’s very little way to beat an Ith barb, or a Zephyr zon.
But for every hack and cheat out there, there’s a Blizzard programmer trying to nullify it and fix it on the realms. For every Blizzard programmer assigned to do that, there’s one less programmer assigned to the patch, or to Diablo III, or whatever else they have coming down the pipe.
hehe, i have no beef with how long 1.10 is taking, I’ve been waiting for it for so long, that I could almost care less when it goes live.
Mind you I will be back at full force online play when it does go live.
“/players 8” command only works on 1.10 patches (beta so far)
“players 8” command works for .07 to .09 patches i think. upto 64 players for .07 and upto 8 players in .09 patches. I’m not sure if it’s .07 it could be .08 to .09.
the way to get those commands to work is to hit enter and type the characters within the quotes and not including the quotes.
Only works on Single player games and on the host TCP/IP players computer. Doesn’t work on Open battle.net or any of teh Closed Realms.

Oh, I’m not trying to do big time magic find, since I don’t really do big time anything (not nearly enough time). To give you an idea, my two highest-level characters are 91 and 76. I’m just MFing with the Zon because she’s my oldest (and hence highest level) character, and my only character who can safely fight Hell Mephisto. On the other hand, I am doing pretty well with her… Even with her normal gear on, she’s still got 266 MF.
And I had heard of the de-runed runewords, I just didn’t know they were called Ith. I suppose it’s just a good thing that they closed the hole before those spiffy 1.10 runewords went live.
Considering that 1.10 is beta-only and singleplayer/non-Bnet only, I doubt the Ith hole being closed on-realm will mean anything for off-realm games. Hell, back when I was playing SP/LAN games, I remember there was an option on an advanced version of Jamella’s Hero Editor where you could basically make your own gear. My brother got a +7 necro skills belt that way.
My paladin has been doing shenk and meph runs for the past few levels and lucked into a shadowfang. Went around in act 5 hacking everything up with that. God bless dual leech.
Madawc, “players X” made it’s appearance in 1.08. Which makes us poor 1.07 schlubs wallow in level 80ish misery, with little access to some of the better uniques. But, our crafts kick ass, as do our massive damage charms.
It struck me the other day that a Barb can use Bul-Kathos’ Children and The Disciple at the same time. The totals are:
FR 209
CR 103
LR 85
PR 105-120
+30 STR
+20 DEX
+100 Mana
+5 to all skills
+550% damage to Demons (!)
+200% damage to Undead
You also get to pick your own rings and helm. Harlequin Crest would be nice for skills and MF alongside two MF/LR rings; Crown of Ages, Blackhorn’s Face or Rockstopper can be used alongside twin SoJs.
Does this sound like a killing-machine plan or what? Given that a Baba will have at least 219 STR with the two sets, we’re talking something like 4,000 damage per blow landed against demons with Lvl25 Whirlwind.
Stealskull, for the dual leech, 10 ias and fhr (I think) and mf would be a decent helm. Then you could wear, like, whatever rings you wanted. Probably Bul-Kathos wedding band for the leech, if you’re really hot on +skills.
Well, if I ever find the Tribal Guardian I’ll come looking for you, punha.
Of course by the time I find the thing, I’ll probably have one of everything else in the game. I believe (no access to diabloii.net at work) that the Tribal Guardian is one of the toughest things in the game to find. I can’t even remember whether Hell Baal can drop it, it may be one of the things you can only get from Pindleskin, Frozenstein, and the like.
