All Diablo2 Talk here.........

Sure, Left. I use ATMA. Here’s the home page:

Lovely, Slortar! I’ll fire up this puppy when I get home, and experience the sweet sweet sensation of not having an inventory full of mediocre set items that I’m too packratty to sell.

Thanks!
Daniel

Left Hand of Dorkness, prepare for your SP gaming experience to be revolutionized. Muling as many items that you could possibly want is incredible.

Any SPers out there need any items? Let me know what your needs are, and I’ll try to put some mules together.

Hmm – I think part of the fun for me is finding all the stuff myself. Thanks for the offer, though!

Right now, my best items are probably Sigon’s armor and shield: between those, some gloves that give +1 to martial arts, and another item granting +1 to shadow disciplines, I’ve got +2 to all my assassin skills. I just hit level 40 and am playing through the first act at Nightmare level.

With all my magic-find gear on, I’ve got about +160 to MF; where would y’all suggest going to load up on moolah? Normal level Mephisto is pretty easy with this character, but in a dozen runs I didn’t get anything I wanted (except for a few hundred thousand gold).

Daniel

NM Andariel gives some very good drops for the first half-dozen or so runs. After a while she pretty much dried up for me, but I got at least 3-4 decent uniques and 3-4 set items from her.

Huh – every time I’ve played, I’ve found Andariel to be the worst of the bosses (and reading about it on diabloii.net, I’m gratified to see the fight called “probably the single-deadliest spot in the entire game”). But maybe I could use the practice :). It’ll be a few more days of play, a few hours at a time, before I even get there in nightmare mode.

…except that you said Andariel, not Duriel, the one that always tears me up (and that the quote above refers to). Andariel is much easier; maybe I’ll try running her several times once I get the chance. Meanwhile, I’ll learn the difference between their names.

Daniel

If you’re playing in West, I’m interested…

Well, I came back to town yesterday and found an Iceblink. Who’s looking for one?

My barb is always interested in a good sword or two…

Okay, MDSL, as soon as I see you in game, it’s yours if you want it.

Do you want money or items? Because for money, nothing beats NM Arcane Sanctuary. But you’re unlikely to find any godly items there. For godly items, your best chance is superunique monsters, but (from what I hear) MF doesn’t work with them in 1.10, and they’re best the first time you kill them. So it can be worthwhile to hunt down all of those obscure superunique monsters that nobody ever bothers with.

But if you want to do MF, you can get a heck of a lot more than 160. Put four perfect topazes in an armor, and you’re already at 96, and you could put three more in a helmet if you can’t get anything better (though there are a lot of good magic find helms out there).

Thanks for the advice, Chronos! I’ll definitely be able to do much better than 160 eventually, but right now that’s the best I can really manage: I don’t even have one perfect topaz, much less three. My best MF armor has two flawless topazes socketed.

I gotta say, ATMA is indeed changing the game for me. It lets me not worry about inventory, finally. I’ve got three of the six pieces of Sigon’s gear, giving me bonuses I’ve never before seen. I’ve got half a dozen perfect gemstones, since I can save all my gems and not just the best ones in my inventory. And my inventory isn’t taken up by cool unique items that an assassin can’t ever use. Thanks so much, slortar, for pointing me toward it!

I’ll probably wait to battlenet until I get tired of my SP assassin, though.

Daniel

If you’ve still got those mitts, I could use them.
In other news, I feel like an idiot: I’ve been playing this game for almost two years now and I just noticed that placing charms in the cube is great for storage, but they don’t actually give you any bonuses while they are in there! WTF?! I’ve always placed all my best charms in there so I wouldn’t have to worry about them, safely tucked away. Why the hell won’t they work in there?!

Does ATMA work for Ladder characters on Battlenet?

Chronos, I’m gonna try to get on tonight…around 10pm on West…

Unfortunately, no. You need access to the actual character file, the one with extension .d2s. You don’t get that with Battlenet, since the character file is stored on the server.

Thinksnow I do still have them, I’m on USEast as Galrion_Martel.

The disconnects are driving me insane. I decided to get the NM Baal quest with my sorceress and take her into hell. Since she’s helpless against fire immunes, I needed a party to do this. I join a game, we fight our way down, kill Baal’s minions, and go to take care of Baal. I static him down and start fireballing him. No problem… right? Wrong, Baal’s slivered, one or two good shots and he’s dead… but he’s not taking damage any more… he’s not moving anymore… no one is moving… I check my ping… 79… fps…60…

The game just froze. It’s happened to me a number of times. I was transferring gear, fairly easy with 2 comps. Instead of using the trade screen, it’s faster just dropping it on the ground, walk to the other computer and pick it up. I do this… well, half of it. I dropped the stuff, went to the other comp and couldn’t pick it up. Oh, well… I went back to the first comp, and couldn’t pick it up there either. I didn’t lose much… but too much.

There is apparently a new exploit that may be to blame. Some people discovered a new way to dupe, using the multiple bodies we can have know. Bnet is working on a fix. Whether this is causing the problem or not, I don’t know. What I do know is that in reading the various D2 forums, I’m not the only one having problems.

No problem, LHOD. It’s a pretty cool little program.
…now if it only made bosses drop better stuff…

There is indeed a new dupe running rampant. I was getting killed by disconnects last night. In a game with Rasa and Nen, I even found Gull. Motherfucking Gull. Careful as I am, I immediately saved, exited, and tried to rejoin the game.

I couldn’t rejoin the game, lost my last level during the backup, and Gull is no more.

The truly sad thing is that I kept trying to reconnect afterwards, when any sane individual would have thrown his computer across the room in primal rage.

Guess that means I’m not sane then…

I was disconnected about 6 times… after the first time I couldn’t get back in… read the SDMB… logged back in, only to play for 15 minutes before disconnecting again. Rinse and repeat, and repeat…

I was kicked off a lot yesterday too. I kept having to sell back the same crap items that were in my inventory every time and I wasn’t gaining any experience, so I quit trying after a bit.

Who, did you have a spare King’s Grace sword lying around? I though Puhna said you did last week, but I can’t remember who he said had it.

I got a wall of Eyeless if any sorc or necro wants it.
