All Diablo2 Talk here.........

thinksnow, if you’re really desparate, sometimes you can stand on the edge of Spider Forest and talk to Alkor via telekinesis (you can get a ring with charges, if you’re not a sorceress). Not much good for gambling, but you might at least be able to get credit for your quests that way. Except that I suspect that your problem would kick in whenever he came into your line of sight. My best guess would be that the part of your game files with Alkor’s appearance got corrupted… You may need to reinstall (back up any single-player chars before you do this, just in case).

sturmhauke, the thing I’ve noticed most about crystal swords and dimensional blades is that they seem to be as fragile as glass. Back when my single-player barb was using them, he had to run back to town for repairs more often than my Amazon needed to run back for arrows. Phase blades don’t have this problem, but you won’t be finding a four-socket phase blade any time soon. Probably the best bet for now would be a Zweihander or Executioner Sword, or possibly a Rune Sword. If I see any of those with four sockets, I’ll grab it for you.

And come to think of it, ideal weapon for a sorceress isn’t even a unique. The absolute ideal would be a magic orb with +3 to your skill tree and +3 automods to each of your three most-used skills (like a Volcanic Swirling Crystal of the Magus, with fireball, meteor, and fire mastery, say). That’s +6 where it matters, and still leaves room for the shield. Of course, it’d be nigh impossible for such to spawn, but one can dream.

Maeglin, I believe I have a hexfire somewhere … Fenris might know where it is. As it’s of little use to me, you can have it.

He already has it… now. And I have a wonderful, wonderful Titan’s Revenge. Now I have to find a good belt for you to try and wrangle your T-Gods from you.

**Fenris and I did a couple of NM Baal runs and got a Que-Hegens(sp) Wisdom out of it. I have it for now, but I’m going to give it back to him once his sorc is high enough to use it.

Oh, there are a few. I suppose I’d be willing to part with it for a Nos’ Coil, mebbe a string, or something with dual leech, nice res (Wilhelm’s Pride does not count, since my cold res is over maxed in Hell), something like that.

If anyone thinks I am being a snob, realize a few of the mods to Tgod’s Vigor:

+20 Str
+20 Vit
+max ltg res and ltg absorb
+3 ltg fury and strike
chance to cast FoH and 1-50 ltg dmg (these are fun but not essential).

I think you’re more likely to find another T-God’s than you are to find a comparable belt that’ll make me willing to part with mine:)

Ok, I thought on ladder characters you could upgrade (cube) your runes past Thul but last night I tried to upgrade three Thuls to get an Amn (I think that’s the next one up) and got the “phhhhht” sound…am I missing something here like a gem or something or is the upgrade turned off past Thul? I thought that was one of the big lures for being on ladder…

You need to toss in gems as well. The recipes are listed here.

You won’t believe this… You ask, punha and I find…

I just found a Nosferatu’s Coil… It’s only 7% LL instead of the 10% listed at Diabloii though. If you want to trade later, that’s fine, if you don’t… that’s fine also. I was only 1/2 kidding about getting it from you, it’s the perfect belt for my zon, but I definately can find a use for the coil if you don’t want it.

In pre-1.10 I used to find strings and coils under every rock, it seemed. T-Gods? I found one. And that one was after I traded for one.

Btw, Who_me?, MDSL and I found a present for your necro.

Next time I see you, I’ll give it to you.

Oh, Fenris! When I see you, I’ll give you the armor. I imbued a Wyrmhide for the zon to use. It doesn’t have the +1, but the def is 777 and it has a little bit of resists and faster hit recovery, both of which I need. So you can mule the armor, or use it on your pally… whichever.

It’s late…errr early, but I am now the proud owner of an Annihilus charm on the ladder. I entered the standard SDMB game in hell to do a little MF’ing and pretty soon after entering the SOJ counter started at about 1419 and continued climbing, and climbing, skipping only 1 number here and there. I went and cleared all of Shenk’s minions, preparing to do the Dclone kill trick in the very likely case that I was unable to kill him solo with my level 78 sorc.

After that, I was tired of waiting and went MF’ing around for a while. I got a pretty good haul off of Meph and just after picking everything up I was looking over my loot and I got “CONNECTION INTERRUPTED”…I was in quite a bit of distress as the SOJ counter had climbed about 40 times at this point. Luckily, I was able to rejoin the same game and the SOJ counter quickly continued climbing at the same point it had been before. I waited in town for a while and talked to the NPC’s periodically to keep the connection up.

Then it came: DIABLO WALKS THE EARTH
I felt my pulse quicken as I went to the Frigid WP and approached Eldritch. Only thing was, Eldritch was there and there was no Dclone. I killed Eldritch and his buddies and at this point I was scared that Dclone had somehow taken the place of Shenk. I resisted the urge to go look and continued into the Frigid Highlands, clearing everything in my path. Approaching one of the areas where the soldiers are held captive, I saw the telltale ring of fire come at me. I went in for a closer look and sure enough Dclone was there next to another super-unique MSLE FI/LI guy that looked like Shenk (not Threshsocket) and a whole huge swarm of CI Champion spear-chucker thingys. It was not looking pretty.

By teleporting around like mad I was able to get Dclone to back off a bit and let me deal with all the spear-chuckers one by one. After taking care of them, I went on to the Unique whip-weilding guy. He had mad HPs, almost like he had taken on Dclone’s amount of HP’s or his resistances, but not both. It took me quite a while of spewing frozen orbs to finally take him out. Now it was just me and Dclone, so I decided to see if there was even the most remote possibility that I could take him on solo, fair and square. There wasn’t…no way, no how. Static doesn’t work on him like it does other monsters, it worked very slowly and my FO’s and meteors weren’t doing diddly compared to how fast he regen’ed.

It took quite a while and a lot of frustration, but I was finally able to lure him out of the embattlements into semi-open ground. I then tried to get him to follow me over to Shenk, but that proved even harder than it was to lure him the short way out of the embattlements. He would follow me sometimes, but would then stop and eventually retreat farther back then where he had started. I decided to bring Shenk to him instead and that proved MUCH easier. Once I herded them together, I unleashed meteors on the CI mana-burn Shenk and between the effort of trying to keep them close together and all the damn mana-burn I wasn’t paying attention to my life. Just as I died, Shenk and Dclone were walking further apart and Shenk walked into one of my burning meteor spots and died. I was in absolute panic because they weren’t that close together and I thought I had blown it. As I lay dead, I rejoiced upon seeing DClone enter his death throes a few seconds after Shenk and hearing the telltale sound of a charm hitting the ground.

Ahhhh, music to my ears!!! I’ve never had such a pleasant D2 death as I went back and collected my body and my Annihilus sc… +1 skills, +13 to all attributes, +14 to all resists, +8% exp. gained. Far from the perfect 1/20/20/10, but I’m not complaining. I was beginning to think that I would never see Dclone on the ladder…it’s a good thing the Shenk (cheap)trick exists though, or else who knows how long I would have stayed awake trying to get that sucker.

I’d heard that that trick was possible, but it’s good to know for sure that it works. Nice fight, and congratulations!

You’re kidding… Shenk’s death throes actually kill everything? I thought they just did a lot of damage (like, what you’d expect from a bunch of meteors and comets). That is indeed a cheezy trick.

I’ll have to try that some time :>

I had read about that trick too on the diabloii.net site…and thanks for sharing your story voltaire to back it up…

I’m a little confused though, did this happen on a standard battlenet game, or a standard “ladder” game on battlenet?

His last sentence tells you… ladder.

Dammit–I just did a Baal run with like 8 other players. I did join the party, but I got NO XP (or not enough to worry about.) I did a Trav run too, and ditto. I’m level 24.

This sorc is impossible to get XP for. What am I doing wrong?

Also, I’ve got a 2 socket and a 3 socket orb. Any runewords recommended?

You have to fight monsters that are approximately your level to get any xp, it’s a formula to prevent people being rushed through the game. You get xp for Baal starting around level 30 or so. When you hit level 50, you start getting less for Baal.

There are no orb runewords, sadly. Unless Leaf (TirRal, gives +3 fire skills) works in orbs, now, but it didn’t in 1.09 (just staves). You might be able to put an “any weapon” runeword in an orb, but why bother?

I’d recommend that you just make a Leaf staff (preferably in something with good boni… Farm Drognan in Act II normal to find one), and put up with not having a shield.

I gave you a 4 socket stave. If you still have it you could use this…

Memory

4 Socket Staves (Not Orbs) Lum + Io + Sol + Eth

+3 to Sorceress Skill Levels
33% Faster Cast Rate
Increase Maximum Mana 20%
+3 Energy Shield (Sorceress Only)
+2 Static Field (Sorceress Only)
+10 To Energy
+10 To Vitality
+9 To Minimum Damage
-25% Target Defense
Magic Damage Reduced By 7
+50% Enhanced Defense
I don’t know what level you need to be to use it though.

BTW, I have all the runes for it but the Lum.
