All Diablo2 Talk here.........

Items are on their way. The v1.07 versions of those are the same as the v1.09, so it won’t be a problem.

Speaking of which, if anyone wants a v1.07 Visceraunt, I’ve got an extra handy. They’re pretty incredible Necro shields.

I have a ?

Does the game get any better at higher levels?

I’m bored with D2 now because it is just a repetitious cycle of fight - find something - level up - fight tougher monsters that aren’t that tough now because you found a good item - find a better item - level up again - repeat ad nauseum…The only things that change are the looks of your weapons, your stats and your skills. But to counter those changes the monster get tougher, so you really aren’t ‘advancing’. The only enjoyment I get now is a new skill, and that wears off after a day or so of playing with it.

Maybe it’s just me, but this endless cycle is boring. Then again, I get bored with first person shooter games as well, the only enjoyment I get with those is learning how to use the keys more effectively to control movements.

I think the real fun and enjoyment we get with Diablo is experimenting with different combinations of character stats, weapons, skills, and spells. Trying to find a new character type that no one has thought of yet. But yeah, if you are just trying to play the game to beat it you’ll get bored quick. I know I did. If you are bored then I suggest you try a different character strategy. Try one of the many different character types available on the web. Then, if you get bored in the middle of the game, sell all of your equipment and switch your character to another strategy.

Other people enjoy the camaraderie of playing with their friends online. And still others enjoy creating Diablo mods and others enjoy making actual cash from Diablo by selling their stuff on Ebay.

Doesn’t 1.09 Goldwrap have 30% GF as well? Not that it matters - GF isn’t too important.

Anyhoo, they arrived and they work, so ta muchly.

The first 25 levels of a character’s life in D2 are play-based - you’re building your character. The rest of the game is goal-based - you’re trying to advance in the game.

Just wanted to point out that GFrazier has announced there will be unique jewels in 1.10. I’m definitely making the switch from 1.07 once this comes out.

Unique Jewels???

Ok, I’m not going to be filling any open sockets for a while…

I can’t access Bnet or Diabloii at work. I’m going to be checking them out when I get home though!

I can’t wait to start a ladder character and not have to worry about hacks and dupes… at least for a little while.

Here’s the stats of one of them, since you can’t access it:

100% chance to cast Level 47 Chain Lightning when you die
Adds 1-74 lightning damage
-3% to enemy lightning resistance
+3% to Lightning Skill damage

The jewel is called Rainbow Facet, and will most likely come in fire, cold and poison flavors as well, for obvious reasons. Pretty sweet, huh? Guess we can say goodbye to PKs now!

Or as we like to call it, FUCKADOOM!

**

According to diabloii.net, the original memo says that all the unique jewels are going to be called Rainbow Facet. Presumably there’s four (or six) of them, therefore, and I suspect there might be a super-bonus for putting a complete set of them in one item.

Well, it will make it tough on PK’ers…

Level 47 CL will make a really big dent in somebody’s day…

I wonder… let’s say you put the jewel in a sword. Now you give that sword to your mercenary. Now you go to kill Baal… hmmmm…

I can think of some uses for that jewel…

Could you please quantify that a bit more?

Thanks-

I don’t see how it needs quantifying. Characters are fairly static in nature after level 25-30, increasing only in power - not in what they do.

Quantify D2? hehe, sounds like what a doper might say.

Well, for me this is how it breaks down.

From character levels 1 to 29:

It’s a struggle trying to reach level 30, so that you can use the utmost best skills for the character you are playing. well that is in most character class cases. Also at higher levels you can don better items to help your cause in ridding evil in the D2 game.

from character lvls 30 and up:

It’s the tedium of trying to get enough experience to get to the next level, finding items that can help you on your way.

And to comment on the tedium, sure it’s tedious to level up and fight monsters that are deemed weak because you are stronger. However, there are 7 character classes with varying skills to use. You can play all different classes in very different ways and still enjoy the game.

What class are you playing? are you playing in Single Player or online on battle.net?

I can ask many more questions to get a better understanding of your situation. Also, this game isn’t that fun to all people. The people in here are quite the hardcore D2 fans and trying to get us to understand your question to a full extent is quite difficult. You need to shed more light on why you find this game boring because all of us here can not really say that.

Try playing a new character with new skills to fiddle around with. Try playing on battle.net and converse with other people when leveling and questing. Try playing the game until Hell Difficulty (that’s after Nightmare difficulty, where Nightmare Difficulty is after Normal Difficulty). Try playing and less analysing.

ah well, at least I enjoy the game…

Personally, I find that the fun is in seeing what neat toys I can find. Diablo’s system of randomly generating items is pretty good for that.

But to justify this being in the Cafe, I suppose, I have a question about the storyline. Just how much time is supposed to pass between Act IV and Act V?I mean, you kill Diablo. Then, word eventually gets to Marius, who’s hiding out in a monastary somewhere. More time passes, then Baal/Tal Rasha in disguise goes to visit Marius, and gets the Soulstone back. Then, Baal re-assumes his own form, and starts up the Mountain a ferre ignoque, and levels all but one of the barbarian cities guarding it. Then, you arrive in Harrogath, via an instantaneous portal. Huh?

Chronos has definitly found an err in the TIME-line… lol

RE 1.10

everone saw the screenshot of the new item right?

I have a guess as to what the glow is on the barbarian on screen. It appears as though he is wearing Immortal King’s set so I think the graphic is a little eye candy that you get when you complete a set.

Maybe time passes differently in Hell?

Well, we got a little more time before the patch…

Blizzard wanted it out before E3, but now they say it won’t be. A question for everybody to ponder before the patch…

Are you going to immediately start a ladder character when the patch is released? I know I am, the thrill of playing without dupes, hacks, and bugged items is too much to resist. I think the atmosphere will be different for awhile also, no rushing, no “every thread is asking for a trade”, it will be like when the game first came out.

I can see it now, the patch comes out, 15 minutes later you get the idiot asking, “can somebody rush me through normal?”

Real suprise there.

I’m probably going to play regular D2 and not ladder for a while. That is because I’m loaded up with runes and good MF chars there. I want to get some of the new items and enjoy the game a bit. Since I rarely trade because i have most things in the game, ladder doesn’t really affect my gaming. Once I have all the fun of playing to find items, then I will test my D2 kow-how and create new Ladder accounts and chars. I would first try out newly created chars in regular D2 to see how the skills were twinked and then go nuts on the Ladder.

I don’t really care to be the top of the Ladder. It just shows who logged the most time on one character. Usually people with no lives can do that. I might even try Hardcore Ladder, where skills are needed, but again I need to be 100% sure that my connection won’t fail and give me a lag death. I gave up HC cuz of that very reason.

My first probable char in the Ladder would be a magicfinding Barbarian. A sword user most likely, if the 3 chip recipe is still around, or whatever new recipe that’ll allow for me to get a decent attack.

max Whirlwind, max Battle Orders, max a weapon mastery, a few points in natural resistance, a marginal amount of points in Find Item about 10 to 15 depending on the diminishing returns, and all the other prereq’s needed. I’m quite the master at using barbs and I hope they don’t get massively changed in 1.10 then my whole strategy will need to be reworked.

Oh btw do any of you guys actually play on battle.net?

Only person I know that plays online is Who_me? on USEast.

Maybe we can try out ladder together and help each other out as we go along… Or maybe I’ll just get lucky and hope that all my old D2 buddies will come out of the woodwork and play 1.10 with me. Ah well…
