My dad tells me he can’t put any runes, jewels, or gems into any of his socketed items. I know I’ve seen the solution to this problem somewhere, but danged if I can remember where or what it is. He’s running LOD 1.09d on XPHome, and he uses the latest MapHack/Mousepad hack.

Well I’m not sure because I don’t use the “latest” version of Maphack by Mousepad. But I’m pretty sure there is an option for that version of Maphack that forces no jeweling allowed. This allows for people not to accidentally put say a chipped gem in a Griswold’s Ornate Plate.
Again, I don’t know for sure that the version of Maphack your father uses has this option. I use a 1.09c version of the Maphack that has the bare minimum abilities of seeing the map, changing the colors of the names of higher end runes, charms and gems. So just check out the readme file that is part of the version of maphack you are using and figure out if the jeweling thing is set to don’t jewel a damned thing.
Finally, I don’t have a definite answer but am pretty sure that the problem lies with that version of Mousepad’s Maphack.

it’s the readme… and there is a tiny bit there talking about “Protect socketed items from accidental socketing.”
so you need to disable it to be able to socket things in general.
The configuration Section should be where you should be looking to solve this. and this is for Version 4.7g for Diablo II & Diablo II LOD v1.09d. probably similar configurations for other 4.7 version of MH too. If you don’t trust that site, then load up your maphack and there should be a link on it that’ll direct you to mousepad’s site, which is where I direct you to.

I almost had a Diablo tragedy tonight. I decided to change Magic-find characters and sent my Skullders, Chancies, and all my other mf gear to my old sorc (using a Gull gives 100% more mf). Well I did that and changed equipment around to re-equip my zon. As soon as I did that and started my first mf run, the whole USEast realm went down, I can’t even get to the server to log in.
I guess the sign of a real gaming geek is that I consider that an “almost tragedy”.
(but I can hope that it went down to install the patch even though I know that it didn’t)

Madawc–thanks, I saw the reply. I did figure out it had something to do with MapHack–forgot there was an option for “socket protection”–Dad’s MapHack is all on default settings, so maybe that’s the problem. I’ll tell him how to fix it. Right now I told him to turn MapHack off to do it, but the instruction seems to be confusing him.
Just to let you guys know, I’m playing in USWest realm, with my lvl 70 Amazon (YeticaRexia), lvl 13 Paladin (YeticusRex - I accidentally erased my lvl 75 Paladin:smack: ), and my lvl 13 Barb (YetiPrime). I usually start a game called “Yeti” or “Yeti1”,“Yeti2”, if the previous games are already going. Let me know if your a doper so we debate while we kill!
About that Azurewrath… Seeing as there’s only one unique of each item type (except for rings and amulets), does this mean that they’re removing the Lightsabre?
And they really should pay more attention to continuity, since Azurewrath is supposed to be a runeblade.
Nope, the Lightsabre is staying. The front page of dii.net mentions that. There are a couple set items of the same item type, and Blizzard said they’ll probably do multiple items of some item types in 1.10.
Rune blades are only exceptional items, so the base damage is too low, and the frequency is too high. Plus, a crystal sword is indestructible, something I’d expect from the weapon of an angel.

this shit is semi-legit, i visited www.battle.net and with a lot of patience and refreshing i got into arreat summit I saw a few of these pages and what that website has up, is what I saw at Arreat Summit. This is NOT a lie from me. It can be a prank from the Blizzard employees but not likely.
www.diabloii.net even has a story on this too. Skill changes and the interaction between skills, new runewords, items, and set item boostage. I checked to see if there are other lower lvl items being added but doesn’t seem like it.
Looks like a blend of Eastern Sun mod and Sanctuary Reborn to me. And I’m salivating at the prospect of 1.10.

Anyway, there’s a shitload of 1.10 info up on diabloii.net now including a list of all the new rune words - one of which uses two Zods! - and a bunch of elite uniques. It also seems that possessing certain skills will power up other skills in the same tree.
ED, you use that buriza, and I will hunt you down and kill you. But good job on the drop, especially for the first kill - I can’t imagine you had a lot of MF on.

Other than the sweet skill interaction, I’m afraid I’m unimpressed until the set boosts and unique weapons come out. There are only about 3 rune words that are feasible, and those require runes that are near-impossible to find in Single Player. There’s only one, ONE!, new unique armor item that adds IAS, and it has a Str. Req. of 106. How about pandering at least an item to the speed crowd?
Damn, I hate looking a gift horse in the mouth, but it just doesn’t look like they consulted people who actually play the game when making some of these items. I mean, how many of the rune words for melee weapons actually add Enhanced Damage? About half. That’s ridiculous. I’m not asking that every item have 300% ED, but having some good mid-level damage is a necessity.
There better be an elite Diamond Bow, or I’m a gonna be upset.
I can’t wait for the patch release. My magic finding has sucked recently, so starting a ladder character will get my mind of it.

The real irony is that I’d been pumping Guided Arrow because I was using Ichorsting as a backup to Endlesshail until I could find a Buriza. By the time I was high enough level to use the Buriza (I was lvl37, Str 87 when I found it), I had max GA…
This character’s turned into a positive god for finding stuff; Hellforge Smith dropped a Pul rune - my highest ever rune, I think - and Diablo dropped a near-perfect Manald Heal (7% steal, replenish 6).
There’s more patch news from Blizzard. Most interesting- a new “secret level” that has something to do with selling Stones of Jordan (getting rid of the dupes in the process.) There’s also some kind of superpowered unique set that isn’t even listed as a set- the only way you know it’s a set is if you wear all the items at once. If it ever comes out (after E3 is the latest estimate, Dii.net says May 21st at the soonest,) this shit could be nuts.Here’s the post from the blizzard guy, check out the screenshots.
The common guess on Dii is that it is Tyrael’s set. In which gues My guess is that when you complete the set you appear to have the vorpal cloak that surrounds him in the game. That would be so cool!
