All Diablo2 Talk here.........

The JTD does just shy of 200 poison damage, Punha.

I agree, though, Blackbog’s Sharp is fantastic for a poison Necro. It’s one of the things I really regret losing in my hard drive crash.

Diablo 2…ancient fucking history

It helps if you read the subsequent posts, especially those after the “when will 1.10 be here” and such:)

Well, he’s kinda right. I mean, even Battlefield 1942 is 62 years old. Diablo is ancient compared to that!

Ass hat.

Hey Pun: Vol and I just found a really good 3 socket Pally shield. How rare are KO and MAL runes and do you have 2 KOs and 1 MAL I can mooch off you? I’d like to make Sanctuary until (HA!) I find a really good 4 socket pally shield (with natural resists to make the ultimate shield–EXILE.

If there’s anyone in the world who won’t laugh at me for this, it’s you guys. On Christmas night, when visions of sugarplums were supposed to be filling my head, I was instead dreaming about a new Diablo II easter egg.

I had just somehow managed to kill Nihlathek while he was still in town (don’t ask how), and proceeded to move his corpse (also don’t ask how). As I was doing so, the other players screamed at me “Don’t do that! You’ll screw up his drops!”. But when I had done so, and put his corpse into a coffin (don’t ask about that, either), all of a sudden…

Cecil Walks the Earth!

But after that, it all gets sort of muddled. All I remember clearly past that point is a 7000 point fireball bouncing (literally) off of Cecil’s ankle.

Um.

I have 2 Kos and one Mal.

If I can get another Vex, I can make an Ohm.

That will give me the runes for Call to Arms. I, er, hope the significance is not lost on you;)

+2 To All Skills
+40% Increased Attack Speed
+200-240% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Adds 5-30 Fire Damage
7% Life Stolen Per Hit
+1-6 To Battle Command
+1-3 To Battle Orders
+1-2 To Battle Cry
Prevent Monster Heal
Replenish Life +12
30% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items

If I use that, your paladin will (lvl permitting) be able to use Stormlash, since that is probably what CTA will replace. It does, among other things, %cast static field (which helps with crowd control, I hear;)) and 1-473 ltg dmg. It is also hella fast and has 65 durability.

So. This is something we need to think about. I would personally much rather take advantage of Mal’s Prevent Monster Heal than its dmg redux 7. I would also rather take advantage of Ohm’s vast damage improvement in weapons vs. its +max res in anything else, but then that is a necessary evil from Exile.

We need to do more mule rushing. With the advent of school I will not be spending so many hours between midnight and noon doing countess runs, and beside that, those runs do not generate 1/10 of what forges do. We need to start coordinating our playtime to maximize effort. vol, this may mean cutting into Hell Meph runs, or it may mean trading solid gear for solid runes. I submit to you that after the third Hone Sundin, we can trade them:D

Oh. I forgot to mention the rarity.

I had never possessed a Mal before 1.10 allowed insane rune transmutions on-ladder. I have had several Kos before now. I have probably transmuted more than a dozen.

In 1.09 I had an Ist, Ohm and Sur (I found the Sur by chance; I did not spawn it). I also had probably half a dozen Ums, all from NM forges, and several Puls, mostly from NM and Hell forges. Mal can drop from Hell forge (we’ve gotten Gul from the Hell forge before); I don’t know about it dropping in NM. Mal is decently rare, whereas I have gotten many, many Kos from NM and Hell forge, though almost exclusively in 1.09 (I have not actually done that many forges in 1.10, at least compared to 1.09 where I probably did several hundred).

Yeticus, I’ve been busy playing offline with my wife. I managed to get her to play on a TCP/IP game, but she’s afraid of Battle.Net. Also she always has to remind me to stop running ahead so fast, she’s slower on the hotkeys than I am.

I’ve tried Atma for muling my offline chars, and I’m contemplating creating my own mule program to address some things I think could be done better, plus it would be an interesting exercise. Anyone have any suggestions? I have these so far:

select multiple items for moving
view character items as a list or normal
improve screen layout so windows don’t overlap

Must … resist … urge …

I found a couple of mal’s in 1.09 but they are not common… obviously. As for Hell Forge runes… My sorc still hasn’t done hers and the Barb that was rushed into hell is sitting in act1 at the moment. I also have a druid in act4 of nightmare (forge quest done) that can be rushed into hell for a drop. The barb is level 49, the druid 56, and the sorc 75, so they can help a little with their own rush. According to my schedule, I have a three day weekend coming up. If I can meet you, voltaire, and Fenris over the weekend, it shouldn’t be too hard to get the forge drops for all three in a matter of a couple of hours at most.

As for magic finding, NM cows drops are crap… so far. The best things I’ve found were low runes… 8 or 9 of them in three cow runs. The Pit hasn’t been much better, the only keeper unique I found yesterday was Waterwalk boots.

I socketed the Andy’s Visage on my javazon with a Ral to get rid of the -30% fire resistance. My resistances are now fire 84%, cold 39%, lightning 85%, and poison 85%.

I believe Tenshu (ATMA’s creator) is currently working on some of those (certainly multiple items - moving gems and runes is a bitch, eh?). But if you could handle that, I’d bear your firstborn.

So, this week’s topic is hotkeys. What’s everyone using? I’ve reset everything, and I don’t see how people can use the F1-8 keys for skills. Current setup:

F1-4: Belt
1, 2, 3, 4: Quests, character screen, inventory, skills page
Q, W, E, R: Warcries, passives, seldom-used skills
A, S, D, F: Bread and butter skills, “F” being main attack
Z, X, C: Valk, Decoy, PI secondary skills (usually “C”),
V: Town Portal
G: Show Items
I: Inventory
O: Merc screen
Space: Weapon switch

Quick question. On a lark, I went, SP, to deal with nightmare cows last night. I was very careful not to kill the cow king. When I exited the game and came back, however, the portal was gone. Does it only last for one session in SP?

Daniel

You have to recreate the portal each time. As long as you don’t kill the king in SP, you’re fine.

So I killed Baal in Norm with my Druid last night and he dropped two Aldur’s Rythm, a nice rare gothic plate, Arctic binding, a rare eth Flamberage and some other stuff. Odd to get that heavy of a drop from him I think.

Yeti, I just found a 5-socket, +2 skills Big Momma bow, yours for the taking. Even without any magic, it already has more damage than the Skystrike I think you’re using right now, although it’s slightly slower. Any suggestions for things to put into it, anyone? The Call to Arms mentioned above looks tasty, but I don’t think we have Mal, Ist, or Ohm yet (I certainly don’t, and I’m pretty sure that Yeti doesn’t either). Or we could just try a miscellaneous assortment of runes and jewels (Amn for lifesteal, maybe skulls for life and mana steal, Orts and jewels for lightning damage, etc).

Sturmhauke, what’s your wife afraid of about Battle.net? Granted, there can be jerks online, but that’s only if you’re in public games. The only difference between the SDMB games and TCPIP is the opportunity for more cooperation in the SDMB games.

And while we’re on the subject, if you do make a new muling application, I’d like to try to port a Mac version of it. ATMA doesn’t seem to be open-source, or I would have already tried it.

Fenris has his 6 socket phase blade now. Found nothing really worthwhile tonight. Just posting to see how long this takes. vB 3 seems awfully slow, even compared to what the Dope was…

Pun: I’m sorry, it’s been a long day and I’m feeling kinda dense…if you give me the 2 KOs and 1 MAL it’ll prevent you from making the CALL TO ARMS? If so, never mind! Seriously.

If that’s the case, I can use the 3 socket shield to make an ANCIENT’S PLEDGE–It’ll still give me better resists than the RHYME and it uses common runes. That way you (Punha) can save the good stuff for your CALL TO ARMS especially since I’ll need that Stormlash (2 more Baal runs will push me over the edge to lvl 82).

On the other hand, if you don’t need those runes for your CALL, I could really use 'em. The reason I’m so hyped on getting a better shield is that Vol gave me some great armor (3 socket Griswold’s something) which ups my defenses sky-high. But it has no resists. Yeah, I could socket it with whatever runes have the appropriate resists, but blah. That’s just dull. I’d rather upgrade my shield so that I don’t need to have resists in my armor and then stick 3 IAS gems (if and when I find 'em) in the Griswolds, along with a SHAEL in the Stormlash. I’ll be like a tornado, given how much I’ve already put into Zeal.

The other option would be to do the reverse: socket the appropriate runes of resistance in the armor and wait for a really good four socket Pally shield to come along and eventually make EXILE (which has killer stats, but no resists…but with a good Pally shield, it’ll have some anyway, built in)

Whaddaya think?

Also, Vol proved that we can run a brand new character through Normal in about 15 minutes (including hellforge) if both players are familiar with what to do (“When Duriel shows up, RUN!”). He got me through normal so quickly that I only gained 9 experience points. Nine. Granted, drops are better at high levels, but enough mid level drops and you can upgrade to whatever runes you need.

And someday, if we ever get a surplus of VEXES (ha! :p), I’d love to make SILENCE and just try it out now that I’ve got the 6 socket phase blade.

Fenris

PS: I’ll be playing a lot this weekend. Everyone I know is out of town, busy or working!

One other thing: I’d love to get a complete Griswold’s set. I’ve got the armor, but if anyone finds the other stuff, please hold it for me.

I’m also noticing that I’m pretty much the only one posting wish-lists here (except for Vol’s Cow King Boots and Pun’s eternal quest for runes! ). Is anyone on East looking for anything I can help find?

Yeah yeah yeah… :stuck_out_tongue:

Chronos, I’m attempting to convince her of these things. It takes time and finesse you know.* And if I do decide to write any muling software I will certainly make it open source. Afraid I can’t help you with the Mac programming though.

[sub]*I realize I am creating fodder for puhna’s snickering, but that can’t be helped.[/sub]
