Yeah, i know about the Resist Lightning thing; that’s how my cold resist is 85% (maxed resist cold due to Holy Freeze synergy). I think skill points are too valuble to use like that though, i’ve been putting all my remaining ones in sacrifice to increase the physical damage i do for better leeching. Topazes will probably be the route i take. Plus the topazes won’t really reduce the trade value of the griz helm that much.

On another note, i hit 91 tonight :slight_smile: yay for 5 more points in vit.

If you forgot you can desocket items with HEL rune and a tp scroll so screwing up a socketing job will only cost you a HEL rune. So socket away and if you are dissatisfied with the result you can always desocket.

Magic finding yesterday was a waste. The only keeper item I found was a Carrion-whatever ring. I may end up using it someday if I have need of poison resistance, but I have no use for it now.

punha, bad news on the trading front. The economy is settling and item prices dropping fast against runes. I saw an IK Soul Cage trade for an ist yesterday evening and Tals armor is down a lot also. Shakos (Harlequin Crest) are still trading well, but they never could have brought in a jah or a ber in their highest trading days. There are a lot of items that I have no idea what they would go for since I’ve never even seen them offered in the trading forums.

It looks like what’s going high now is skill charms. Pally charms (esp. combat), Poison and bone, and druid elemental charms are bringing in good runes, as are sounding charms for barbs. I would imagine that jav skill charms would go high too since javazons do well in the newest patch, bow skill charms are cheap.

Yeah, i know all to well that you can desocket – I accidentally managed to stick a Pdiamond in my Trang’s Armor, so i’ve been planning on taking it out with a Hel i have lying around (but not until i have something that i want to replace it with! no sense in accidentally socketing it with something else).

Just in case anyone didn’t know, you can transmute charms with 3 Pgems to reroll the mods on them. I just rolled a pally combat gc last night, and it didn’t take that many tries (about 5 iirc). The hardest part is collecting the pgems, but i’ve been finding a good amount on baal runs.
If +skill GCs rise in value as Who_me? said, this may be a good way to tap into the market rather cheaply and efficiently (doesn’t take much time, since you can do it during normal play, and crappy GCs fall all the time).

I never knew there were charms that gave class-specific skills. Are these listed somewhere?

Also, I don’t know what was going on yesterday, but I was running NM Baal for grins and when I was in Worldstone lvl2, my base AR was 15k and maul was showing 20+k, with my def sitting at 12k or so.

My normal numbers are more like 1800-3500 with def sitting at 9-10.5k (with the kick from my merc) I’m not sure wtf pumped my AR through the roof, but I’d sure like to get some more of that, whatever it was.

Each class of character has three skill trees and there are +skill GCharms for each. For example for druids you have summoning, elemental, and shape shifting and zons have bow/xbow, jav/spear, and passive/magic. There are +skill GCharms for each of the skill trees.

Each charm can also spawn with a second mod such as +life, +attack rating, or a number of other possibilities. If you can get a +skill charm with like 35 life, you can get quite a lot for it.

theckhd, IIRC, you are on West. Trade values are not the same on east and west. You’ll want to check either diabloii.net forums or b.net forums to check what is going for what in your realm.

Or you could just let your fellow Westerners know, and perhaps some of them would be glad to offload some of the durned things. You commented the other day on how my belt always overflows when I die? I’ve got about 8 or 10 pgems sitting in my sorc’s inventory, because I ran out of room for them on my gem mule.

By the way, when transmuting charms, be sure to use ones from high-level areas. The ilvl of the item is fixed when it’s dropped, and isn’t changed in that cube formula, and only high ilvl charms can get +skills.

thinksnow, were there any paladins in your party (or even just folks with act 2 mercs)? The Defiance aura boosts your defense, Blessed Aim boosts AR, Might and Concentration boost damage, and Fanaticism boosts damage and AR. Defiance, Blessed Aim, and Might are all available on mercs, and Concentration and Fanaticism are popular for paladin characters. You can “get some more of that” by hiring the appropriate mercenary, or by running with paladins more often.

I haven’t been able to play much lately. It’s a good thing we got the Tal sorc going so that the MF/rushing efforts can continue when I’m not around. Has she found anything good yet?

Who: That Carrion Wind ring would be VERY useful for a Rabies using Druid, as long as he doesn’t have any points in Poison Creeper. Why, you ask? It’s the same as the “MarrowWalk bug”…If you have an item with charges and you don’t have ANY points in the same skill as the charges, it grants the same synergy bonuses as the skill level of the charges.

Rabies receives an 18% dmg bonus synergy per level of Poison Creeper. Carrion Wind ring has level-21 Poison Creeper charges. If you’re wearing it, don’t have any points in Poison Creeper, and it still has at least one remaining charge, you would receive a 378% damage bonus to Rabies without spending a single skill point for that synergy. Ouch.

I don’t think Blizzard has officially said that this is a bug or that it will ever be fixed, but just don’t count on this to work forever. Though, they’ve known about it (and other significant bugs) for a while and haven’t done anything to correct them. Just think of it as an undocumented feature. A feature that my Bone necro (once he’s leveled and geared up) will be only too happy to exploit while it lasts.

In that case… does anyone have a druid that uses rabies? If not, it may be decent trade bait…

Note that it’s not just skill points; a Druid with +Poison Creeper from an item (if any such thing exists) won’t get the awesome synergy bonus either. I know this because my bonemancer has a fairly nice White wand with +2 Spear, +2 Attract, and +1 Bone Prison that completely negates his Marrowwalks.

Chronos i didn’t realize you had a surplus of gems, i’ll be glad to take some of them off your hands (or conversely i could pick up some GCs from hell baal runs for you to mute with the gems yourself if you’d like).

As for trade differences between East and West: From the time i’ve spent browsing trade channels it seems that pally combat charms and sorc skill charms are in high demand, so i think that they’re worth quite a bit so as it is, though i can’t comment on the increase in rune value. It’s fine by me though, if it means i can get ahold of a Herald of Zakarum more cheaply. It may even make it worth hellforge rushing my mules.

Certainly such things exist… If nothing else, you could have a random druid helm with +poison creeper.

But poison creeper is a prereq for the other two vines, whereas bone prison is the top of its food chain, so to speak. So I would suspect that there are fewer druids without any points in poison creeper than there are necromancers without points in bone prison. But I don’t know the druid builds: Maybe shapeshifters don’t bother with the vines at all.

While I don’t exactly have a +2 Psn Creeper helm stowed away, any Druid skill can spawn with a +skill on a helm; same is true of Barbs. I’d give you a nice long list of other items that can spawn with +individual skills, but that would bore the tears off both of us:D

Right, right, Druid helms. Forgot about those. The point is, I have a reasonably nice White that I can’t use because it interferes with my ability to exploit bugs. Wizardspike is some consolation, but still.

I was playing with only my merc in tow, and yes, he’s an A2. I’ve been getting his def boost, as I mentioned in the last post, but I’d never seent eh AR pumped up before. Thing is, is was only for a little while, and it went away again before I got to the Throne.

Here’s a shot out of left field, thinksnow. Since Enchant increases AR (though not so much, and for so short a time, I think), is it possible that you got Enchant cast on you? Other than a paladin aura, or perhaps a malfunctioning Heart of the Wolverine, I’m at a loss.

I feel almost obligated to report (not bad news), since I so far have done almost all of the play with the Talsorc, that she is up to level 83. There was hellacious lag tonight, due possibly to the fact that I was running with random sorcs who fire early and fire often and don’t get the concept that if something is immune to cold, orbing it into submission does jack (I watched their health bars). I am not yet ready to run Hell Meph with her because A) she does not quite have the skills for it, B) the merc has only 43 psn res in Hell (I need better armor for him, too; he’s using capable rare, but I really need something better) and lvl 79, and C) haven’t done Hell Anya yet, which means my psn res is 44 with Tal’s set and my fire res, though not quite so crucial with Meph runs, is 62.

Obligatory mention of how much pub runs suck:
I was in a 7-player hell Baal run last night, level from mid-70 to 90, mostly in the mid 80’s, so everyone has some juice, right?

We get to Baal, and pretty much from the time he’s below a quarter, I’m the only one hitting him. Everyone else was waiting for the drop. Sure enough, when it came, I have enough time to see that there was a drop before it was all gone. Just gone, no “Hey, anyone want this crappy rare?” or anything.

On the plus side, though, I did lvl to 80, so there is that.

Yes, life in the pub run lane. Whenever I do pub runs, I never worry about drops, not because I’m so unselfish and generous, but because it’s useless to worry about them.

When Baal dies, I’ll try clicking where the body falls a couple of times, and usually end up with nothing. When I hear the click they tells me I got something, I wait until I get to town to see what I got. Usually ends up being a gem, or gold, but sometimes I get an item. If I got nothing, or nothing useful, I repair, restock, quit, and join the next game.

Sometimes you can get in with a good group that shares drops. Usually those games are passworded, but sometimes they don’t to get more players in. Then they password the next game.

I’m putting crap (unique crap, but still crap) on the community mule. Check it out and take if you want. Over the weekend I’m probably going to clean up the mules and start putting things that are worth something on the trading mule. I’m getting plenty of uniques, just not very good ones at the moment. I got a Bloodmoon (?) unique elegant blade yesterday, which was the only worthwhile items I found. I have had good item types drop, 2 magic hydra bows, a socketed and a magic phase blade, a few Colossus blades, a magic sacred armor, and stuff similar, eventually one of these will drop as a unique…

…and then…
RICHES!!!
