"All posts by user" = "last 750 posts by user?"

Apologies if this has been asked and answered. Searching for posts by a particular member yields either the most recent 750 posts, or the most recent 750 threads in which that person has posted, and goes no further. Is there any way around this, if the only identifying search qualifier I can remember is the poster’s username?

There may be a work-around mentioned here.

Thank you, Ice Wolf, for your kind response. That helps, and so, I suppose, would searching forum-by-forum (let’s face it, if I’m playing with toys like the SDMB on the internet, I’m not exactly pressed for time). That gets me to, for example, the 750 posts prior to this date last year by a certain poster in a given forum. Maybe a few or even a lot more if I sort by thread rather than by post, because I’ll get all a user’s posts in any thread counted as one by the search function (I’ll have to read the thread to find them, but that’s not much of a hardship). While not perfect, it’s certainly an improvement. Please don’t take it ill that I ask the next question of the members, because I am extremely grateful for your knowledge and your willingness to take the trouble to share it and your gentle courtesy in doing so. Are there any other strategies for going backwards further and/or faster, keeping username as the basic key for the search? Or is there something incorrect about my understanding of things as I’ve described it?

I need to put all those qualifiers back in the search engine so you can isolate better; I had 'em in and a system upgrade wiped them out.

I know I can’t get to it today, but I’ll make sure it’s on the list.

Thank you very much. I was asking for advice, not for actual improvements in the search engine, but your efforts, whenever they happen, are very much appreciated. I’m afraid I’ll probably be asking you how to use the refinements once they’re available, but I’ll be both patient and grateful. Best regards.
