In this thread, you have accused me of violating the Board rules, engaging in jerkiness and (I think) halitosis. I and others have informed you that, if you have a beef with me, you should take it to the Pit. Despite this, you have continued to attack me.
Since you are a newbie, and may not understand how things are done around here, I have decided to help you out. Here is the Pit thread you should have started. Rip me apart, big guy, and please, use small words, I’m kinda slow.

Well I for one don’t want to share billing. And further, I seem to recall that during the race threads I was usually accused of being a crypto-Commie by certain uninformed members.
So I hereby demand that you at least come up with a formula that captures these contradictions.

Perhaps he doesn’t realize the honor he is being given that Sua and Collounsbury have been denied, being invited to the pit while still in double digit (or even triple digit) posts.
You techniques and overall tone in G.D. could be taken as being (on a bad day) as “jerky.” (if you squint and look at it upside down). I think you would have to agree that on occasion, such as in your post to which treis said you were jerky, you have a bit of a condescending tone. Regardless of the veracity of december’s OP, you stated you would “Sit back and await your evasions and half-truths in response.” That comment was not necessarily a statement about the merits of december’s OP, but rather a dismissive comment about december’s ability to EVER post without being evasive and using half-truths. Could be construed as jerky.
I think you people need to be a leetle bit more careful. It’s far from clear whether as designated GD’ers - and thereby falling within the jurisdictional powers of the Debating Debating Society – you are permitted to Tag Bait without reference to an as yet undefined Rule Book.

Your criticism is duly noted and accepted, Hamlet. There certainly was an element of the personal in my response to december. He had always struck me as a fair and honest debater, but he appears to have a hard-on for the Clintons that makes him unable to rise to his usual high standards when they are the topic of discussion. And I was frustrated, and I was making my frustration clear. If someone I didn’t virtually know had started the same OP and written the same things, I would have made the same point, but I would have used different language - something like “your points are devoid of merit” or some such language.
The question is, was my language “jerkiness” as we use the term here? Lord knows that the conduct and reputation of an OPer does affect the tone of the responses (Wildest Bill comes to mind). Is this part of the rules of the game here, or should it be eliminated?
Let me get out my SDMB dictionary for the definition of “jerk.” Nope. It wasn’t trolling, it wasn’t a hit and run, and it wasn’t haranguing. However, your response had a definite smarminess (if that is a word) to it, because you were dismissing december’s ability to argue (whether deservedly so or not), which may be a personal attack. You had given, IMHO a good response to the issues december raised, and then threw in a parting shot at his abilities to debate. To me, it was a simple throw-away comment. It was only a part of your posting style, the flair with which you distinguish yourself. A little jerky, sure, but I personally enjoy reading posts with those kind of little digs. I personally wouldn’t classify it as a violation of the Don’t be a Jerk rule, but then again, I’m not a mod, so what do I know.
Definately. That’s why I personally have a rule against “feeding the trolls” Lolo, wildestbill, and others don’t care about debate and really have nothing of interest to say, so I don’t respond. However, when there are responses to these kinds of posters, they should have a thick enough skin to deal with it.

Sua, I was glad to see your most recent post here. Your actions in your recent assault on december have struck me as being a distinct departure from your usual standards, which are quite high. I hoped these were a temporary abberation, and your acknowledgement to hamlet gives me reason to believe that they are.
