Allegedly hot chicks/studs whose appeal escapes you

Eric Bana. He looks like Fievel from An American Tale to me.

Jessica Alba was really foxy in Idle Hands, since then, she just looks like a humorless bitch, and that makes her ugly to me, nice body be damned.

Eva Longoria. In Texas, I see much prettier hispanic girls every five seconds.

Orlando Bloom. His facial hair looks like pubic hair, and he is just too effiminate for me.

I think Julia Roberts is downright gross. I will not want to watch a movie she is in, occasionally do, like Closer, and as soon as she comes on the screen, I find her so detestable, that Clive Owen better show up real quick to make me continue watching.

Zac Efron was looking like a wax Ken doll, I vastly prefer that type of body over a type that looks like it spends countless hours a day pumping weights, but I am starting to see the appeal. I am very interested in seeing him in Me and Orson Welles, because if Richard Linklater wants to work with him, he might not be as Disney-robot as I think. Although, what happened to that movie anyway??

And from the American Idol threads last year, I don’t see the appeal in David Cook, other than that he’s a humble guy, and seems cool. He looks like he wishes he could have Efron’s hair, and is making those same run of the mill modern rock songs I hear at any popular fratty type bar from any cover band.

I said he looked like an anime character. I was talking about his face. You yourself have admitted that you think he has a nice body, even though this thread is supposed to be about people whose appeal escapes you. His appeal doesn’t escape you, you just think your physique is better than his, or something. You really don’t know what work he’s had to do to look as he does. I highly doubt he does nothing to maintain that body. You don’t know, he might have been the fat kid in elementary school, and has to work his ass off to keep himself looking as he does. I just find your assumptions about him and your criteria for judgment here a bit quixotic and maybe a bit sour grapes. It seems a little too personal for a lighthearted thread like this. I say this as someone who is not a fan of Zac Efron in the slightest.

Ah, Eric Bana. I’ve never been able to see his hotness!

SJP is the synonym for ugly in this house. She’s a few dabs of makeup away from Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister. One of the ugliest “starlets” on the planet. And that has nothing to do with any Family Guy comment.

I’ve never found Cameron Diaz or Julia Roberts attractive, although Julia did look good in some of those Pretty Woman outfits (like the one at the horse track). But that mouth and mega-smile just frighten me.

And there is NOTHING wrong with Jessica Alba. At least from the last time I saw her.

Agree about Sharon Stone. She is one leg-cross away from Hollywood oblivion. She’s a bad actress, and she does nothing for me.

Nicole Kidman is a babe, but will always have the Tom stain on her resume.

Is there a leading man in Hollywood who is over 6 feet tall? Everyone I see is a shorty… 5’5" or so.
PS. All of these people (with the obvious exception of SJP) are better looking that me.

Five foot five? Seriously? What leading man in Hollywood is 5’5"?

Christian Bale is 5’10 and a half according to IMDB. Hugh Jackman is 6’2, as is Gerard Butler.

Hugh Jackman is 6’2’’? I always thought he was shorter, I guess mainly because as Wolverine, the broadness of shoulders kind of brought him down, not sure how to describe that in the right words. By the way, Argent Towers, I responded to something in the other Zac Efron thread towards you, and would love to hear your answer, and please don’t think of this as an attack or anything, I am just so curious.

I never saw Hugh Jackman’s sex appeal, have always loved him as an actor, until that recent movie that did real shitty with Michelle Williams and Ewan McGegror. Deception? He looked like a stone fox. Bad guys are sexy.

As to your question in the other thread, ever since I watched the masterpiece that is Pretty Maids All in a Row, I have made it my sworn duty to plug that movie whenever possible. It’s just an underrated gem of a film, a quirky comedy that for some reason is completely unknown, despite having an all-star cast. To me, that film represents the best kind of “high school movie” ever, so it frustrates me that nobody knows about it, and EVERYBODY knows about Zac Efron.

Eh, that’s just marketing. Stop getting angry at poor Efron, though, you did your part! I looked for that movie, it’s not available on netflix, and we have NOTHING in terms of cool independent video stores in Houston, even here in the “cool” part of Houston I live in. I can buy a copy that is copied off a vhs from Amazon, and will end up just doing that, so thanks for the heads up, because even this minor film buff had never heard of the movie, and is very intrigued. Thanks for answering my question and realizing I wasn’t trying to be a dick, it was just kind of weird. If I didn’t know better, I would think you were him and finally got someone on the streets of Vegas to let Carson use their laptop.

Oh, but you also think things are unkown when they aren’t, like your comment about how most people don’t know the original Jeep Cherokee body. Yes, some do, they just aren’t stepping up, don’t talk down to people, you’d be surprised what they actually do know!

Back to talking about how Brad Pitt is a great character actor, but I will never see the appeal. Too stupid. Give me Gael Garcia Bernal, please.

Cool! You can see the first five minutes of the film on Youtube. The theme song (Chilly Winds) is sung by the Osmonds. It’s a great song (the melody is re-used in numerous motifs throughout the film, in the score, etc - one of those great little touches that movies had in the 70s and never seem to have anymore.)

ETA - about the original Jeep Cherokee body, yeah some people might know about it, but I highly doubt that the majority of current Cherokee owners between 18 and 25 (seemingly the biggest demographic for drivers of said vehicle) do. I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

I love everything from the 70s - movies, music, and cars. I should have been born in the 1950s, really. And God what I wouldn’t give to have those female fashion styles make a comeback!

I saw the first five minutes, I went on a rampage of frustration last week when I found out netflix didn’t have it. Ok, can a mod help me? I wanted to take this to PM so as not to go off subject, and it says that I have pm’s off, so I just paid the fifteen bucks thinking that would change it, and still nothing. I am not a stupid person, but apparently I’m not seeing something right before my eyes. Can someone report me or something, for the right reasons?

ETA: Well I see something, once I paid I am no longer a guest. I need to go read the FAQ’s for the millionth time, what I’m missing, I don’t know.

Yet another vote here for Julia Roberts.

And Sarah Jessica Parker…

Brad Pitt: good looking with long hair (I’m thinking of that boring movie he made with Anthony Hopkins) but with short hair … not so much.

That would be “Legends of the Fall.”

Heather Graham. She has a nice body, as evidenced in Boogie Nights, but she also has those big bug eyes that make her look like something out of Men in Black.

I will do it.

I will be all alone in doing it, but I will still do it.

I will earn the scorn and horror of all my fellow Dopers in doing it, and I will be all alone in doing it, but I will do it.

I will earn the scorn and horror of all my fellow Dopers in doing it, and I will be all alone in doing it, but, nonetheless, honor compels me to do it.

Sarah Jessica Parker is a hottie. I’d be more than happy to have meaningless sex with her.

That…that isn’t right. It isn’t even wrong. Such an appraisal of Heather Graham can only be explained by assuming you come from the anti-matter universe.

I knew you were a bit of a weirdo, but I didn’t think you were some kind of deviant…

Julia Roberts.

On top of what everyone else has said about her here, she walks like a duck as well.

She had a baby about a year ago. She is fantastic. But the blonde hair in FF didn’t work.

Pam Anderson was absolutly beautiful when she first hit. But she is over 40, had a lot of road miles and too much surgery. Try and find some early pictures of her.

Another one who looked great when she first hit. I thought that she was one of the most beautiful women in the world in Total Recall and that Steven Segal movie. I don’t know what happened but her appeal went way down right after that.

She seems to be trying very hard to look as unattractive as possible. Think prison tats. Lots of prison tats.

Have you seen her in the newest season of 24? The prison tats are covered and while she’s not as young as she used to be (she’ll be 45 this year), she looks like an attractive human being again.

A local radio show recently did a hot or not segment on Julia Roberts. The hosts thought it would be a landslide of hot, while the producer thought it would not. As per this thread, it was landslide of not.

Agree with this thread on Jessica Biel and Jennifer Aniston. Great bodies on both, butterfaces too.
