Alright, everyone just use a condom and shut the fuck up

I’m simply going to reference them to that post.

Maybe you could all use it as your Sig?

Know ye this for all time: I (think about) sleeping around, and I always (on the rare occassion that I actually score) use a condom and practice safe sex - and I remain 100% STD-free, as I have for the duration of my sexual life.

Your concern is duly noted. And now that we all know The Truth™, I expect to never again be lectured on this topic on the SDMB. (Likewise, any moral aspersions cast against those whose sex lives differ from your own will not be tolerated.)

Thank you.

Know this for all time: I don’t sleep around, and I still (would) use a condom and practice safe sex if I got any- and I remain 100% STD-free, as I have for the duration of my sexual life (or lack thereof).

Your concern is duly noted. And now that we all know The Truth™ I hope to be lectured on this topic on the SDMB, 'cause that’d mean that not only I had sex, but also felt secure enough in my SDMBness to post it here. (As always, any moral aspersions cast against those whose sex lives are like mine are pretty much ignored. All Hail the Big C Club!)

[size=1]Yeah, Homebrew got it first, sosumi.
Isn’t ‘ye’ old english for ‘the’, thus ‘know ye this’ would be ‘know the this’?

I don’t sleep around, and have been fixed, and thus, don’t use a condom.

Spider Woman, and I like it that way.

Know ye this for all time: I have slept around in the past, I don’t sleep around now, though I still use a condom and practice safe sex (it’s common sense people) - and I remain 100% STD-free, as I have for the duration of my sexual life.

Your concern is duly noted. And now that we all know The Truth™, I expect to never again be lectured on this topic on the SDMB. (Likewise, any moral aspersions cast against those whose sex lives differ from your own will not be tolerated.)

Thank you.

Mangetout**, the most common story of HIV-transmission I’ve heard isn’t:

“I had sex with 20 guys the night before in a bathouse.”

It’s:

“My boyfriend was at a party, and I guess he was really, really drunk. Anyway, he was too scared to tell me – he thought I’d break up with him. He didn’t really think he had it…”

My boyf and I are in a monogamous relationship. Safe sex is expected between us – never been an issue. Any human being is capable of making a stupid mistake, and anyone so insecure that they think using a condom indicates a lack of commitment is in for a rude awakening.

Uh, we’re talking about prevention of STD’s, not pregnancy.

Pregnancy is still a big deal-of course, not for you MALES!!!

Humph!

Just KIDDING!!!

That’s it, Pearl. I’m using my Interrossiter™ on you!

I added the fixed part because I don’t sleep around, and thus it would be very difficult to aquire an STD, and I didn’t want anybody chiming in about pregnancy.

Not every person needs to use a condom every time they have sex without fail. I’m pretty sure that my grandparents have not bought condoms in the last forty years or so, and I’m equally sure that neither of them has caught an STD in that time. For my 87-year-old grandmother to whip one out at this point “just in case” would be an insult indicating lack of commitment. Even though she has been married for 64 years.

Personally, I trust my husband (i) not to sleep around, and (ii) if temptation got to be too much for him, to tell me about it and then take appropriate precautions.

It’s like the oft-quoted statistic that if you’re going to be murdered, it’s most likely to be by a member of your family. It doesn’t keep people from trusting family members, because the risk is still small enough to be acceptable, compared with the costs of eliminating it. For some people, in some situations, the risk of sex without condoms is small enough to be acceptable. For others, it’s not. Preaching about what might happen to those who have knowingly and intelligently assessed the risks of their own personal situations is just insulting, in my opinion.
