OK, so I am a freeloader (and as I recall from what I read at signing on, my membership should have already expired…not that I’m complaining, cut me some slack here, I’m one of the victims of the current economic downturn, and likely an idiot for even bringing it up:rolleyes: Trust me, when I am rolling in it once again, this will be one of my first expenditures)
Normally, my issue is that I get logged off every several minutes, and being the thoughtful (ok, long-winded, often distracted by real life) writer that I am, I end up having to log back in constantly. Drives me NUTS!
But the last few days, I’ve noticed that whenever I come here, I am logged in already and never have to log in to post. Um, handy as all get out, but what’s up?
That’s actually normal behavior. Something got fixed on your end. You’re not actually logged in all the time; the board software automatically logs you out after some preset time interval (not sure what it is, but it seems to be somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes). When you come back and load a page, the vB software reads your SDMB cookie and logs you back in. To you it appears you’ve been logged in all that time, but right now I can see your online indicator is grey, meaning you’re logged out.
Thanks. No biggie, and it’s actually a great improvement, since before, I was getting logged off after something like 2 or 3 minutes of “inactivity” (which included typing) and it was a pain to have to logg back in all the time.
I don’t think I checked the remember me box, since I never do that as a rule.
I just wondered.
